After some introspect, though, I realized that I was actually very happy where I am, nestled near family and close friends. April 19, 2006, UPDATED VERSION

UPDATE: NEW HOTEL IN SEATTLE - I just found out that the Silver Cloud Hotel is 1.3 miles from Pike Market Place and the other downtown attractions. I was told that it was 5 blocks away and very near the downtown area. This turns out not to be the case, and I believe this is too far to be shuttling back and forth. I apologize for the misleading information.    More >>

April 4, 2006 - SISTERS - In last week's Newsletter I discussed how "Senior Bachelor" took on parallel missions. Not only was I seeking my soul mate, I also realized I could really help others in their search for a soul mate as well, and I could help in other ways. The total surprise to me was that the meetings in Manhattan Beach and Chicago resulted in over 500 women meeting kindred spirits!! All single, all around the same age, and all with a sense of adventure and a shared love of travel!!! It was wonderful to see total strangers become instant friends. These new friendships have already resulted in many women meeting in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Chicago and other locations. Also, so many women have developed e-mail pals and friends from the blog. February 28, 2006 - Brazil & Chile Summary and Surgery Update - As I had to quickly vamoose out of South America, I never gave a summary of Brazil and Chile. Quite a few readers have asked questions about those countries, including is it safe for women to travel there. The countries are vastly different, mostly in terms of temperament. Brazilians at birth seem to be doing the samba and one only works the minimum to have more time to party. Brazilians are the most fun loving group of people I have ever encountered. They also have an extra dose of the Latino blood and can be hot-tempered. As you know a large part of the incredible Amazon Jungle is located in Brazil, and that was one of the highlights of all my travels. For the benefit of new readers we stayed at The Ariau Amazon Towers, an superb treetop resort absolutely in the heart of the jungle.    More >>

February 21, 2006 - In Your Words- New Orleans Today - Each week I would like to have a section called "In Your Own Words." Any interesting story that you would like to share- please keep to no more than 750 words or so- please e-mail them to me at For example, a woman just sent me an e-mail from Uganda, and she is doing volunteer work there. Boy, I'd like to hear about that!! Another reader went to New Orleans to help out immediately after Katrina. Or if you live in New Orleans, tell us what it is like today. Tell us about great places to travel to, and perhaps travel hazards to avoid. And, as we have discovered on our Journey together many of you have had your own "re- awakening" at this new stage of your life. All great stories we should share.

February 7, 2006 - To Catch a Thief - To Catch A Thief was shot in and around Monaco in 1955 and was directed by Alfred Hitchcock, starring Grace Kelly and Cary Grant. We milled round the Hotel until 4 o'clock and then walked around lovely downtown Manhattan Beach until 5:30, and then took off our shoes and walked along the water's edge for 30 minutes watching the sunset.

September 6, 2005 - MANHATTAN BEACH SOIREE-WOW!!! - I must admit to some anxiety about what turned into a four-day event in Manhattan Beach last week. After all, there wasn't a "baseline," and I was not sure what to expect. What I never dreamed might happen was the INCREDIBLE BONDING, which occurred with most of the women. True kindred spirits. And that was THE STORY, and it was just so delightful to watch it unfold.    More >>

August 29, 2005 - First "Meet the Senior Bachelor Event" Shaping Up! - As I wrote on my blog this weekend: "Manhattan Beach is shaping up to be quite a fun event. At least I hope so. We all are in new territory with this endeavor, and that adds a lot of mystery, Romance, and Adventure. On the one hand I am nervous, and the other hand excited." The "nervous" is an excited kind of nervous not unlike when you are planning a big party...    More >>

For the benefit of new readers, the Mission is to Promote Romance and Adventure for People of All Ages- but I really mean 40 and over and especially 50 and over!! And I'm learning first hand what amazing women you are! And your families, too. August 3, 2005 - SENIOR BACHELOR AND THE MEDIA - One of the major goals of the Senior Bachelor Search and Journey is to Promote Romance and Adventure For People Of All Ages. In fact this “tagline” is on the heading of all of the Newsletters as well as on all of my correspondences. This is a nicer way of saying that this is for Seniors, or Mature People, but I really mean people 40 and over and especially 50 and over. We know it doesn’t get any easier as we get up in years!!    More >>

July 26, 2005 - I hope everything is going well for all of you. I loved reading the responses on the Senior Bachelor blog about traveling during full moons and the professional volleyball tournaments. If you haven't joined in the blog, please do so. I don't have time to respond all the time but I do make an effort to read it regularly. This week I've got some time constraints so I am going to share some quotes I've been collecting and continue the SouthEast Asia travelog.    More >>

There is now a Senior Bachelor Online Shop! And much more so let's get to it.    More >>

July 12, 2005 - Hi Folks, I thought I would do something a little different for this week's Newsletter. I took a trip to S.E. Asia starting December 1, of last year. It was meant to be a four month trip starting in Thailand, and then really exploring Cambodia, Laos, and Burma (Myanmar) and Southern India. One of the main reasons for this trip was to prepare for the Senior Bachelor Journey, which will include two months in this area, so I wanted to do some research. I sent some e-mails back to friends, and I thought I would share them with you.    More >>

July 7, 2005 - To all of my fellow Americans, I trust you had a Happy 4th of July. And to the readers from other nations, welcome aboard. Each day the Newsletter list grows as The Oprah Winfrey Show is broadcast at different times in approximately 120 countries. For example, last week the Senior Bachelor segment was aired in Australia and New Zealand, two of my absolute favorite countries in the world, and also part of the upcoming Senior Bachelor Journey. I must say I am getting quite anxious to travel again, especially under these new circumstances!!   More >>

June 28, 2005 - WELCOME PEOPLE READERS AND OPRAH VIEWERS! - This will not be my normal Newsletter because I am dealing with a pinched nerve in my neck. The pinched nerve has come about from spending many more hours than my neck is used to on the computer!! You may wonder what is a "typical" day for me. Each day, due to the influx of videotapes, letters, biographies, etc., I spend at least three hours sorting, reading and filing. I have just come to the point of having the time to start to review all of the materials. I have never had a website before, and I had no idea the enormous amount of attention that is needed, also every day. This is at least two more hours. And then there is a myriad of little details, all of which add up to yet another three hours or so.    More >>

June 21, 2005 - The Senior Bachelor-One of People Magazine's "50 Hottest Bachelors" - While I feel this is undeserved, in the current People Magazine, dated June 27, and available on newsstands through Thursday, June 23, with Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, and Matthew McConaughey on the cover, they chose yours truly as one of the "50 Hottest Bachelors." I must admit, for a variety of reasons, not the least that I am 64, that I was surprised to be selected. You might be curious as to how something like this happens.   More >>

I am extremely honored and flattered that you have shared such incredible emotions and stories via the letters, e-mails, videotapes, and biographies I have received. Many Newsletter readers have asked if it is my "staff" or yours truly that reads and sees the materials sent in. Thus far I have been the "staff" and when I reply to e-mails (if and when time permits) it is me, as I read and see everything that is sent in.   More >>
