Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
I write to you today from my "home away from
home," Lerici, located on the Northwestern part of
Italy right below the Cinque Terre. For the lucky folks
who have traveled in this wonderfully historic
country, you know how very diverse the areas are.
In a few minutes or so you can pass into another
very distinct area.
In the North are the wonderful Alps and Dolomite
mountains, and the glorious Lake District and
Venice. Below this area and above Rome, is
Tuscany, Liguria, and Umbria. Of course there is the
Eternal City of Rome, one of the greatest places on
earth, in my opinion. And in the South the Amalfi
Coast, Capri, and much more, and of course Sicily.
The Sicilians do not consider themselves Italian and
they have their own dialects which even Umberto
could not understand one word!
The first tour, from October 15-28, had 10 in the
group, also Umberto and myself, and the second
tour, from October 28-November 12, 7 , including my
sister, Connie, and Umberto and me. I fell in love with
Italy all over again, and I am currently looking for a
place to live here next year from April to the Roman
Empire cruise embarking from Rome September 25.
Here are some fantastic photos taken by Umberto
and the group.
I plan on returning to the US in early December. I
will visit with my doctor and after I know results of
some tests, will come up with plans for 2007. As I
have written many times, my Journey, my quest, is
on hold pending many factors. As soon as I have a
clear direction, I will share that immediately with
everybody.
The Panama Canal cruise on Crystal Cruises is filling
up quickly. We had a great meeting in Manhattan
Beach on November 9th to learn more about Crystal
and to meet up with some Senior Bachelor "alumni"
and meet new folks. Unfortunately, as a result of
that meeting, only two of the Category "E" cabins at
the very special Senior Bachelor price are available.
There
are still a few cabins left in other categories- all with
special Senior Bachelor prices. This cruise will sell out
at these prices so please, if you don't want to miss
out on this great opportunity, contact us now.
The Roman Empire cruise with Holland America Lines
will sell out months in advance of sailing. Not only is
it a fantastic cruise, but I will show you Rome and
parts of Italy before we set sail. If you
reserve your spot now, you have more than 7
months to cancel and receive a 100% refund.
Please click here for details for both
cruises.
At the November 9th Senior Bachelor meeting Joe
reports of another Perfectmatch success story! Ann
was one of the original applicants for the Senior
Bachelor Search last year. She told Joe that as a
result of the experience of applying and examining
where she was in life, she "stepped out of the box!"
That's when she met Bob on Perfectmatch- and they
are engaged to be married soon! Now that's what I'm
talking about!! Best wishes to you Ann. Click here to
learn more about Perfectmatch.
Thank you for your continuing support for our
collective goal of Promoting Romance and Adventure.
Here are more wonderful photos from the Ladies in
our recent tour of Italy. Great job, Ladies!
We'll post more of these on the website on the Photo
Page shortly. Ciao for now, Richard Roe Senior Bachelor (To forward this email to a friend, click here.)
Some computers have a problem opening the photos from the Senior Bachelor Newsletter. If so, wait a few days and go to www.seniorbachelor.com and click on the most recent Newsletter and you'll probably be able to see them there.
Joe Here-
Having served as emcee of the Senior Bachelor
Reunion Dinner I can say it was a great success! The
Ayres Hotel and Matisse Restaurant did a superb job
with the wonderful Italian themed buffet dinner
hosted by Crystal Cruises. The audience was half
alumni and half newcomers to Senior Bachelor.
Thanks to the local newspapers running the
announcement more folks came to learn about all the
fun everyone has been having.
Bill Smith, Senior Vice President for Crystal Cruises
stopped by to talk to us about their wonderful ships
and services. I learned some new things about them
during the presentation. For one, they will have four
male hosts on the Panama Cruise to make sure
everyone has a fun time on the dance floor. And the
value- while just a few more dollars per day in cost,
Crystal proves to be a great value as you don't have
to pay for so many of the little extras. I know the
folks who attended snapped up the first tier cabins
so sign up soon to get your best deal.
Jay and Leah were there from Coastline Travel and
met all the folks and answered a lot of questions
about the cruises. They are a terrific resource for our
group and were responsible for negotiating the
special Senior Bachelor rates and other amenities.
Yours truly had a rookie moment and forgot my digital
camera. So I went across the street and bought a
disposable digital camera at Staples. So I took some
photos of the event but am waiting for the
processing. I'll post them in a later newsletter.
It was great to see many familiar faces and hear so
many stories of friendship and travel. Two Senior
Bachelor Alaska Cruise alum were there, Karen and
Linda, and shared their story of the great friendship
they made and plans for future travel together.
Several people were exchanging phone numbers and
emails so I think some sparks were flying.
So I'm glad to report that the Senior Bachelor
phenomena is alive and well and a there is a
unanimous call for more meetings and get togethers.
There are more and more people interested in getting
together with other singles aged 45 and older.
Richard and I will be planning more meetings
in 2007 so stay tuned!
