The "Meet the Senior Bachelor Tour" Kicks Off!
Hello Ladies, It’s confirmed! September 1 and 2, Thursday and Friday, will be the first stop of the Meet The Senior Bachelor Tour, in Manhattan Beach, California! Manhattan Beach is located 10 miles southwest of Los Angeles and about 10 minutes south of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The meeting place is the nearby Ayres Hotel right off the 405 Freeway at Rosecrans (14400 Hindry Avenue, Hawthorne, CA 90250, 1-800-675-3550). The owners and management of this superior Italian-style Hotel have been gracious enough to make us all feel at home and give us great rates for their terrific rooms- $109 for a double. Please see www .ayresmanhattanbeach.com for all information and directions. However, for reservations please call their toll-free number 1-800-675-3550 or (310-536- 0400) and ask for Group Code GRPSEN for the special Senior Bachelor Weekend rate. We will kickoff at 2 PM Thursday afternoon, September 1 and conclude at 9 PM Friday evening, September 2. More details below.
If my schedule allows, I will try to visit other cities and Canada. I am in the process of trying to finalize a visit to Chicago, tentatively slated for September 8, 9, and 10-Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I will let you know shortly if this will occur. I dearly would like to visit other cities, in particular New York City, Atlanta, and a city in Texas, as well as a visit to Canada. Please allow me to extend my sincerest thanks to our wonderful neighbors to the north. I have received so many wonderful videotapes and letters from many great Canadian women- thank you. Also, there have been many wonderful videotapes and letters from lovely southern belles-in particular from Georgia and Texas. Please understand that I will do my best to visit these cities, because I really want to. I just don’t know if my schedule will permit me the time for these opportunities I hope you will understand if I cannot make it.
Accommodations and Services with Special Senior Bachelorette Rates
The Ayres Hotel is offering a special Senior Bachelor rate of $109 for a double room which includes a full breakfast. Junior Suites are at a special rate of $149 and the Executive Suites go for $189 (These rates are $20 off their regular discounted weekend rates.) Call toll free 1-800-675-3550. The Ayres Hotel provides a free minivan shuttle to any location within 3 miles of the hotel—that’s close enough to my beloved beach! If you need to rent a car you can do that at the airport or, the Ayres Hotel has an arrangement with Enterprise Rent-a-Car next door for great car rental rates starting at about $30 a day. You can call RC at Enterprise at 310-536-3010 and ask for his special Senior Bachelor rate. And nearby is a fantastic day spa, Murad. The dress all year around in Manhattan Beach is “beach casual.” If you would like to dress up a little more feel free to do so.
On Thursday, September 1, from 2:00-7:00 pm I will meet with as many women as possible. Whether this will take the form of group meetings, or small “round table” meetings, or one-on-one meetings, is unknown at this time. That depends on how many of you lovely ladies show up. Seeing as this is brand new to me, I simply have no idea if there will be ten people or 200. I will promise to do the best I can, and priority for meetings will ALWAYS be given to the women who have taken the time to send in videotapes and biographies. Continuing on Thursday evening, there will be a Cocktail Party in the outdoor atrium from 7:00PM until 9:00PM with a no-host bar. The Ayres Hotel is planning a reasonably priced buffet dinner to serve starting from 6:00PM in the Atrium. (The photo is taken in the Ayres' Biblioteca Room.)
The schedule on Friday, September 2 will have an earlier start at 9:00AM and will also go to 6:00PM for meetings with the same buffet starting at 6:00PM and the Cocktail Party starting at 7:00PM in the outdoor atrium until 9:00PM.
Please understand there is NO invitation list. Quite the opposite in fact. Please bring friends- male and female. Kindly keep in mind the over-arching theme of the Senior Bachelor endeavor- To Promote Romance and Adventure For People Of All Ages. And to have fun- so the more the merrier. I hope this to be a party, and a darned good, fun one at that! And the idea that some women will make new friends or meet the women from the Senior Bachelor Blog is a wonderful thought! I have said from the beginning if there was a way to meet you ladies and have you meet me before the deadline, I would try to do so.
Information on the Meet the Senior Bachelor Tour was posted on the Senior Bachelor Blog a few days ago and here are a few of the questions raised. “Do you have a ‘no way’ list of potential travel partners who have sent in the requested materials?” No, I do not. I have no plans to encourage, nor discourage, anybody from attending. Only you can and should make that decision. I would like to add that not attending any of these meetings will NOT decrease you chances of being on the Journey. I understand that if you are from out of town, this is an expensive and time- consuming thing to do, and I am, and will, continue to be sensitive to that. Some have asked if the media will be there. The media will be informed; however I cannot say for sure whether or not they will show up. I would be pleased if the media covered this meeting, as this would promote our collective cause.
September 1 and 2 are the days leading up to Labor Day weekend. I can think of few better places to be than in the incredible beach community of Manhattan Beach, a city of 37,000 residents in an area two miles by two miles. The beaches are extremely clean, the water temperature is perfect, the beaches are very long, wide and uncrowded, and there are 100 beach volleyball courts! This is the home and center for beach volleyball in the world. In fact, this coming weekend, August 20 and 21, the AVP Professional Beach Volleyball Tournament will be in Manhattan Beach, and televised on NBC. They call it the Wimbledon of Beach Volleyball. (The photo is of the famous Manhattan Beach Pier.)
The Ayres Hotel is a five-minute ride to the beach. The owners spend a lot of time in Italy and it is furnished beautifully in an old world European theme. A full breakfast is provided with your room and the restaurant serves a fantastic lunch and dinner at the Matisse Restaurant (http://www.matisserestaurant.net/). The hotel provides a free shuttle van to anywhere within three miles- so you may not even need a car if you fly in. Beverly Hills and Rodeo drive are 30 minutes away, the world class Getty Art Museum is 30 minutes, as are; the Long Beach aquarium, Disneyland, Universal Studios, Hollywood, downtown LA featuring the new Disney Hall and the Staples Center and the Queen Mary in Long Beach. San Diego is two hours south and Santa Barbara one and one-half hours north (where you can go wine tasting in the region made famous by that hilarious movie “Sideways”!) If you travel east for one and one-half hours, you are in the lakes and mountains. Within easy walking distance of the Ayres Hotel are numerous restaurants, shops and movie theaters. If you decide to come, stay the weekend and consider it a mini-vacation!!
It is VERY IMPORTANT that if you decide to attend these meetings, whether you are within driving distance, or staying at the hotel, that you inform me so that I can have some idea of how many people will be here. Please send me an email at Richard@seniorbachelor.com and put SB Tour RSVP in the subject line.
If you have any questions about this event, please review the current blogs at www.seniorbachelor.com/blog for questions, answers and comments. You can post questions there or you can e-mail me at Richard@seniorbachelor.com. In the subject bar please put SB Tour Question.
Thanks and very best wishes to all. I look forward to seeing many of you in a few weeks! Be sure to keep a close eye on the next Senior Bachelor Newsletters for more information about the Meet the Senior Bachelor Tour and the Search. Pass the Newsletter on to friends and encourage them to subscribe so they can share the excitement with you!
WOW, the response to the idea of taking cruises together was beyond a smash!! For new readers, in response to suggestions by readers of the Newsletters and blogs, I said that I was considering going on a cruise to Alaska next summer, and maybe that would be a good way for all of us who like to go on cruises to spend some time with each other. As I love to go on cruises, we could also go to any other places in the world on other cruises as well.
The response was so overwhelming, that I have decided to set up a separate Newsletter for all of the interested people. It should be noted that I will be doing everything in my power to have as many single men come on these cruises as well. A Senior Love Boat, if you will!! This idea (thank you readers) fits perfectly with my mission of Promoting Romance and Adventure For People Of All Ages. How much fun will these cruises be!!!!! Please keep next summer open for the initial Senior Bachelor Love Boat Cruise!
I hope to get the first Senior Bachelor Newsletter to you early next week. To sign up for the special Senior Bachelor Cruise Newsletter, please take a minute to read these instructions before you proceed:
Thanks, everyone. Hope to see you soon!!!
