    Hi Folks,

In last week's Newsletter I discussed how "Senior Bachelor" took on parallel missions. Not only was I seeking my soul mate, I also realized I could really help others in their search for a soul mate as well, and I could help in other ways. The total surprise to me was that the meetings in Manhattan Beach and Chicago resulted in over 500 women meeting kindred spirits!! All single, all around the same age, and all with a sense of adventure and a shared love of travel!!! It was wonderful to see total strangers become instant friends. These new friendships have already resulted in many women meeting in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Chicago and other locations. Also, so many women have developed e-mail pals and friends from the blog.

Another benefit was that after I was diagnosed with cancer, I pushed people via my weekly Newsletter to get physicals-men and women. I know of two men that would not have gone in right then for physicals, they did, and have discovered they have prostate cancer. If they had not discovered this now, they would be in very bad shape soon. I know many women were also prompted to have physicals.

We have all heard the expression, in one form or another that "Man plans and God laughs." My personal quest is "on hold" pending my medical situation, but in the meantime the other missions live on.

You all are aware of the upcoming cruises which will lead to even way more new relationships being formed. The cruises are about 80% filled now, and if you are interested, please read the information below and then contact me and we can get your spot reserved. Remember, the cruises will be mostly singles, but we do have some married couples, some children, and mother-daughters. All are welcome!!!

I hope this makes clear the goals and objectives (as of today!!) of the Senior Bachelor endeavor.

As you know, Umberto is back in Italy, but will be on the cruises to take lots of photographs. He also will photgraph and videotape the spectacular sights. For the benefit of new readers, if you would like to see Umberto's photos from the Senior Bachelor Journey- click here! Enjoy.

    Here's one of Umberto:

    Best regards!

A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting with her Mother. As they talked about life, about marriage, about the responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance upon her daughter.

"Don't forget your Sisters," she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. "They'll be more important as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going to need Sisters.

Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them.

"Remember that 'Sisters' means ALL the women... your girlfriends, your daughters, and all your other women relatives too.

"You'll need other women. Women always do."

'What a funny piece of advice!' the young woman thought.' Haven't I just gotten married? Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup! Surely my husband and the family we may start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!'

But she listened to her Mother. She kept contact with her Sisters and made more women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her Mom really knew what she was talking about. As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman, Sisters are the mainstays of her life.

After more than 60 years of living in this world, here is what I've learned:

    Time passes

    Life happens.

    Distance separates.

    Children grow up.

    Jobs come and go.

    Love waxes and wanes.

Men don't always do what they're supposed to do.

    Hearts break.

    Parents die.

    Colleagues forget favors.

    Careers end.

Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you.

A girl friend is never farther away than needing her can reach.

When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end.

Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you. Or come in and carry you out. Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-l aw, Mothers, Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended family, all bless our life!

The world wouldn't be the same without women, and neither would I. When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other. Every day, we need each other still.

    The Widow Woman

Jack decided to go skiing with his buddy, Bob So they loaded up Jack's mini van and headed north. After driving for a few hours, they got caught in a terrible blizzard.

So they pulled into a nearby farm and asked the attractive lady who answered the door if they could spend the night.

"I realize it's terrible weather out there and I have this huge house all to myself, but I'm recently widowed," she explained. "I'm afraid the neighbors will talk if I let you stay in my house."

"Don't worry," Jack said. "We'll be happy to sleep in the barn. And if the weather breaks, we'll be gone at first light." The lady agreed, and the two men found their way to the barn and settled in for the night. Come morning, the weather had cleared, and ! they got on their way.

They enjoyed a great weekend of skiing. But about nine months later, Jack got an unexpected letter from an attorney. It took him a few minutes to figure it out, but he finally determined that it was from the attorney of that attractive widow he had met on the ski weekend. He dropped in on his friend Bob and asked, "Bob, do you remember that good-looking widow from the farm we stayed at on our ski holiday up North about 9 months ago?"

    "Yes, I do." said Bob.

Did you, happen to get up in the middle of the night, go up to the house and pay her a visit?" "Well, um, yes," Bob said, a little embarrassed about being found out. "I have to admit that I did." "And did you happen to use my name instead of telling her your name! ?" Bob's face turned beet red and he said, "Yeah, look, I'm sorry, buddy. I'm afraid I did...why do you ask?"

"She just died and left me everything."

(And you thought the ending would be different, didn't you?)

    1. A murderer is condemned to death. He has to choose between three rooms. The first is full of raging fires, the second is full of assassins with loaded guns and the third is full of lions that haven't eaten in 3 years. Which room is safest for him?

    2. A woman shoots her husband. Then she holds him under water for over 5 minutes. Finally, she hangs him. But 5 minutes later they both go out together and enjoy a wonderful dinner together. How can this be?

    3. What is black when you buy it, red when you use it, and gray when you throw it away?

    4. Can you name three consecutive days without using the words Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday?

    5. This is an unusual paragraph. I'm curious how quickly you can find out what is so unusual about it. It looks so plain you would think nothing was wrong with it. In fact, nothing is wrong with it! It is unusual though. Study it, and think about it, but you still may not find anything odd. But if you work at it a bit, you might find out. Try to do so without any coaching!

    ANSWERS BELOW... DON'T PEEK... !!!!!

    1. The third -- Lions that haven't eaten in three years are dead.

    2. The woman is a photographer. She shot a picture of her husband, developed it, and hung it up to dry.

    3. Charcoal.

    4. Sure you can: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow!

    5. The letter "e" -- the most common letter in the English language -- is missing from the entire paragraph!

I love hearing from you about your experiences with PerfectMatch! I share them only with the writer's permission- usually given enthusiastically because they are excited to share their success. Fits nicely with our New Year's Resolution theme:

    From Marti- "Richard,

Want to tell you about my success with Perfect Match. I joined at the same time I started planning my trip to Chicago to meet you. David and I emailed a few times, then started two-hour phone calls each night for a couple of weeks, then met in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan immediately after Chicago (my Chicago "tour" included a leaf-peeking week in UP). Since then we have been almost inseparable - almost four months! Incredible! So, yes, I think Perfect Match works, and I have recommended it to a couple of friends. I had tried eHarmony at my sister's insistence for a month, with no luck, and David had tried three other sites at different times over the last couple of years and actually had met a few women. We both think we got lucky on PerfectMatch!

    Good luck!
