Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, Happy Valentines Day to everyone!!
I would like to thank all of you who have been
faithfully following this Adventure, and also welcome
many new readers to the Newsletters. Amazingly, the
Oprah segment on Senior Bachelor continues to play
around the world, recently in many countries in
Southeast Asia.
A frequent question e-mailed to me is: Will your
Search for a life partner continue?? The short answer
is....yes. The longer answer is.....yes, but probably
not in the same fashion as I had originally planned,
I'm sad to say.
For the benefit of new readers, the Senior Bachelor
endeavor was launched on The Oprah Winfrey Show
and People Magazine in 2005. This does not mean
that either Oprah or People magazine was involved in
any way business-wise, rather to let viewers and
readers know of my quest. For that I am deeply
thankful to both Oprah and to People Magazine.
To my utter astonishment, more than 6,000,000 (6
million) unique viewers have visited the Senior
Bachelor website. During 2005, some 2,200 very
courageous women had the fortitude to send in a
video and a biography. I know how hard that must
have been, and I sincerely thank each and every one
who did so. I am so gratified that so many found this
experience to be a major life change in their lives and
we have all shared in many happy stories.
From the 2,200 entries, there were 22
Fabulous Finalists, all of whom visited Manhattan
Beach for 4 days in October of 2005. I assure you it
was mighty difficult to choose 5 women from this
group. Mind you it was difficult to choose 5 women
from the 2,200 who had sent in their information!!
I remain deeply grateful to each and every person
who has been involved in any way in this quest.
The Senior Bachelor Around The World Journey
started in November of 2005. Five courageous and
wonderful women decided they would take a chance
and travel with me for up to one month as I circled
the globe.
Vicki, from Atlanta, took the first plunge (which was
perfect as Vicki is a champion 10 meter diver and had
also appeared on another Oprah show in 2005). We
toured Brazil and Argentina for almost one month,
highlighted by our stay at the Ariau Towers in the
heart of the Amazon jungle. This was the same place
where Survivor Amazon was filmed, and we had the
exact same guides as we spent days in the Amazon
jungle.Vicki was great. (If you would like to see
photos of the Amazon Jungle trek click
here.)
In January, Gael, who lives on Cape Cod, visited and
we toured Chile, highlighted by our time in the
Atacama Desert. Gael was also
super! Click here for photos of Gael and Chile.
Two weeks into our time together, I
found out that I had prostate cancer.
Umberto, my right hand man, expert linguist, guide,
driver, and great traveler, was along on the Around
The World Journey videotaping everything. Umberto
went back to Italy, Gael to Cape Cod, and me to
Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, where I had the
damn cancer cut out.
In one of the next Newsletters I will let all of the
readers know if the Journey will continue. Again, my
sincere thanks for being along on this journey, with
all of its twists and turns.
Italy-2007
Past Newsletter readers know that I am moving to
Italy as of March 1. Not permanently, but at least
until November of this year. I will be conducting two
fabulous tours in Italy, one starting March 23, the
other October 5. The two tours have very few places
left. If you are interested, please e-mail me
immediately.
In between the two tours, from May to September, I
will be living in Lerici, right below the Cinque Terre,
and I will be conducting day tours in this wonderful
area. I have rented a house directly on the
Mediterranean Sea, which is available for rent, or to
stay, while I lead tours. Please click
here to read further information.
Also, there is a FABULOUS 10 day "Roman Empire"
cruise embarking from Rome on September 25, with
the best itinerary I have ever seen. Pl
ease click here to read the details.
Bye for now, Richard Roe Richard Roe Senior Bachelor (To forward this email to a friend, click here.)
Some computers have a problem opening the photos from the Senior Bachelor Newsletter. If so, wait a few days and go to www.seniorbachelor.com and click on the most recent Newsletter and you'll probably be able to see them there.
