Oprah and The Senior Bachelor, Thursday, August 25!

Hello Ladies (and a growing number of) Gentlemen, This coming Thursday, August 25, the Senior Bachelor segment on The Oprah Winfrey Show will be re-run. Quite frankly, I am not overly excited about receiving new tapes, etc., but I am VERY PLEASED about the exposure for our common Mission. For the benefit of new readers, the Mission is to Promote Romance and Adventure for People of All Ages- but I really mean 40 and over and especially 50 and over!! And I'm learning first hand what amazing women you are! And your families, too. Do you know that I got an overwhelming number of emails from daughters wanting me to know about their Moms and how much they deserved a trip like this for all their hard work and sacrifice raising them. Truly touching.

What started out as One Man's Search for Romance and Adventure, has spawned a parallel Mission. What was a rather self-serving goal, my search for my soul mate, has touched so many people in so many ways. I had no idea how many people over 40 are seeking their soul mate- and how darn difficult this is!!

I would like Senior Bachelor to be the stimulus to shake things up- to give Hope and Inspiration to all of us 40 and over single folks. This is the main reason why I am so darn happy that Oprah and her Producers (who are amazingly good) "get it." I am eternally grateful to my friends in Chicago for providing a launching pad for the Senior Bachelor endeavor. We are going to be making some extremely positive and long overdue changes on the road to Romance and Adventure!!!!

People our age are not in the "coveted" 18-39 year old demographic so loved by the advertising agencies on Madison Avenue, and consequently ignored by the television and film studios. This is some more narrow- minded thinking we want to see changed. And collectively, we can make changes!! This is why I am always talking about signing up for the Newsletters, and having friends, male and female, of all ages, sign up.

YOU CAN HELP- this Thursday- by clicking here to Oprah's site, and letting her know that WE want more shows (like Senior Bachelor) that speak to us. There are some 80 million Americans 50 and over and we control 70% of the wealth!! How the heck have advertisers from Madison Avenue missed this???? Let’s get a dating show for people our age. How about a Senior Amazing Race, or a Senior Survivor?? Why not???

Now there's a Senior Bachelor, and I greatly appreciate, and need, your help to make this successful. Maybe we'll be looking back five years from now, and realize we all had a hand in changing the thinking towards people our age. Wouldn't that be an amazing thing!

Thank you for support, and please remember on Thursday to send your thoughts to Oprah. Click here to email her after the show.

Meet the Senior Bachelor Tour- September 1 & 2, Manhattan Beach
    Richard at Ayres Hotel

Wow, what a response so far! This is going to be one heck of a party. Here is the tentative schedule. I'll have several of my friends there to help out (I'm trying to round up my older, single buddies!!) On Thursday, September 1, from 2:00-7:00 pm I will meet with as many women as possible. Whether this will take the form of group meetings, or small “round table” meetings, or one-on-one meetings, is unknown at this time. That depends on how many of you lovely ladies show up. I will promise to do the best I can, and priority for meetings will ALWAYS be given to the women who have taken the time to send in videotapes and biographies. Continuing on Thursday evening, there will be a Cocktail Party in the outdoor atrium from 7:00PM until 9:00PM with a no-host bar. To complement our surroundings, The Ayres Hotel is planning a fantastic buffet dinner for $19.95 that they are calling "A Taste of Tuscany"! It will start at 6:00PM in the Atrium. (The photo is taken in the Ayres' Biblioteca Room.)

The schedule on Friday, September 2 will have an earlier start at 9:00AM and will also go to 6:00PM for meetings with the buffet starting at 6:00PM and the Cocktail Party starting at 7:00PM in the outdoor atrium until 9:00PM.

Please understand there is NO invitation list. Quite the opposite in fact. Please bring friends- male and female. Kindly keep in mind the over-arching theme of the Senior Bachelor endeavor- To Promote Romance and Adventure For People Of All Ages. And to have fun- so the more the merrier! I hope this to be a party, and a darned good, fun one at that! And the idea that women involved with the Senior Bachelor Search and Journey will make new friends or meet the women from the Senior Bachelor Blog is a wonderful thought! I have said from the beginning if there was a way to meet you ladies and have you meet me before the deadline, I would try to do so.

Hotel Reservations- Call Soon! The Ayres Hotel is offering a special Senior Bachelor rate of $109 for a double room which includes a full breakfast. (This is $20 off their regular discounted weekend rate.) Call toll free 1-800-675-3550. The Ayres Hotel provides a free minivan shuttle to any location within 3 miles of the hotel- that's close enough to my beloved beach! If you need to rent a car you can do that at the airport or, the Ayres Hotel has an arrangement with Enterprise Rent-a-Car next door for great car rental rates starting at about $30 a day. You can call RC at Enterprise at 310-536- 3010 and ask for his special Senior Bachelor rate. And nearby is a fantastic day spa, Murad. You can call them at 310-726-0470 or visit them at www.murad.com.

What to do in Manhattan Beach- A Tour Guide
    Middle Eastern Children

September 1 and 2 are the days leading up to Labor Day weekend. I can think of few better places to be than in the incredible beach community of Manhattan Beach and the surrounding area. The beaches are extremely clean, the water temperature is perfect, the beaches are very long, wide and uncrowded, and there are 100 beach volleyball courts! (The photo is of the famous Manhattan Beach Pier.)

The Ayres Hotel is a five-minute ride to the beach (approximately 3 miles) and they provide a complimentary shuttle van anywhere within 3 miles of the hotel.

I'm putting together a tour guide of what to do in Manhattan Beach. It will be passed out to you when you sign in at the Ayres Hotel. I'll include tips on where to go and will try to provide as much information as possible including telephone numbers and web addresses. If I have it finished before the event, I will try to post it on the website.

If you have any questions about this event, please review the current blogs at www.seniorbachelor.com/blog for questions, answers and comments. You can post questions there or you can e-mail me at Richard@seniorbachelor.com. In the subject bar please put SB Tour Question.

Thanks and very best wishes to all. I look forward to seeing many of you the end of next week! Be sure to keep a close eye on the next Senior Bachelor Newsletters for more information about the Meet the Senior Bachelor Tour and the Search. Pass the Newsletter on to friends and encourage them to subscribe so they can share the excitement with you!

    Senior Bachelor "Love Boat" Cruises!

The response to the idea of taking cruises continues to grow!! For new readers, in response to suggestions by readers of the Newsletters and blogs, I said that I was considering going on a cruise to Alaska next summer, and maybe that would be a good way for all of us who like to go on cruises to spend some time with each other. As I love to go on cruises, we could also go to any other places in the world on other cruises as well.

The response was so overwhelming, that I have decided to set up a new page on the website (look for it soon) and a separate Newsletter for everyone interested in cruising together-- A Senior Love Boat, if you will!! I will be doing everything in my power to have as many single men come on these cruises as well- that's why exposure on The Oprah Winfrey Show and the newsletters are so important. We need to show those older gentlemen what they are missing by getting to know how many fantastic, mature women there are out there. This idea (thank you readers) fits perfectly with my mission of Promoting Romance and Adventure For People Of All Ages. How much fun will these cruises be!!!!! Please keep next summer open for the initial Senior Bachelor Love Boat Cruise!
