Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Hi Everybody, I am getting through (most) of the Italian
red tape and starting to enjoy this great part of the
world.
The "mission" of Senior Bachelor seems to continue
to evolve into one of providing hope and
inspiration and a reawakening
to many readers. Others enjoy the travel parts. And
others who do not need hope, inspiration and a
reawakening, and do not care about the travel part,
like information about cruises, get-togethers and other
information pertinent to our age group. This is what
your e-mails to me indicate.
I will continue to do what I am doing as long as the
readers of the Newsletter would like me to, and if this
also is meaningful to me. When I receive letters
such as the one below, this inspires me to keep
things going, albeit not in the way the Senior
Bachelor mission originated!!!
Bobbe, is from Canada, and just sent me the
following e-mail. Bobbe will also join me and a group
from April 10-20 in Lerici.
To Richard from Bobbe,
As I mentioned yesterday, I am spending three
months in Italy indirectly because of you. My first visit to
Italy was in 2000, and I fell in love. I have since visited
here three more times.
Asking me to pick my favorite spot in Italy would be like
asking me to pick my favorite child - it can't be done. I
love many places and aspects of this country.
I don't recall exactly when I read your bio, but when I
saw that you had spent a year in Italy, I thought "what a
lucky guy, how great would that be." The thought was
then planted in my sub-conscience.
One month after his 50th birthday, my husband
passed away after battling cancer for 4 years. Shortly
after than my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's,
which she battled for 5 years. So better than anyone I
realized how quickly life can throw you a curve ball.
The thought that was planted after reading your bio,
grew to a plan. And my philosophy is DO IT NOW.
Fortunately for me, the planets were aligned, and my
plan is now being experienced - living la dolce vita in
Italy for three months. And I haven't taken the smile
off my face since I arrived.
I encourage everyone in our age group to DO IT NOW!
Life does not give us a do-over, and I hope everyone
could spend their final days thinking, "I am so glad I
did .........", rather than "I wish I would have...."
Richard, I hope you will continue to encourage others
to GO FOR IT!!
Hope you are having another great day in Lerici. It is
definitely "bel tempo" in Venezia.
Take care.
Bobbe
Good going, Bobbe!!!!!!!!!
