Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is with the deepest sadness and regret that I
inform you of the passing of Wendy Steele, one of
the 22 Fabulous Finalists. Wendy was 64, looked 44,
and had the most wonderful and warm spirit and
smile.
Wendy lived in Montecito, California, and is survived
by
two loving daughters, Hope and Nicole. Wendy
embodied the true spirit and purpose of the Senior
Bachelor endeavor and we are all sad at her passing.
She made great friends among those in her group and
was even planning to host a reunion in her beloved
Montecito.
Please remember her and her family in
your thoughts and prayers.
It is very difficult, to say the least, to discuss happy
subjects given the tragic news about Wendy, so out
of respect, I will keep this very short.
I also wanted to inform you that one of the six
Ladies
planning on traveling with me, Corinne Jean, has
decided she will not be participating due to personal
reasons.
IGUASSA FALLS!
For three magnificent days we stayed right across
the Brazilian border in Argentina at the Iguassa Grand
Hotel Resort and Casino. Click here to
see their website.
Folks this is a true FIVE star Hotel and Resort and I
highly encourage you to click on the link and check it
out. The spa is magnificent. Also, just as Jill Siegel
was the Brazil specialist, Sandra Borello is a highly
recommended specialist for travel in Argentina.
Sandra's email is info@borellotravel.com.
On December 20, Vicki will be returning to Atlanta.
We were together for more than three
weeks and I feel that, at the minimum, I have made
a great new friend. In fact, we had a blast and I was
honored to spend so much time with her! She has
some great comments to share with you below about
this latest leg on our trip.
I will have more to say in the future, but that's it for
this week.
Happy Holidays. Richard Roe Senior Bachelor Vicki Umberto Click here to see more photos from our Journey!
Salvador was fabulous! Now I know what Richard
means about taking a few days here and there to
just relax and recuperate. The Amazon was fast and
furious with little "break time" and Salvador was quite
the opposite.
Mornings were spent relaxing by the Oceanside pool,
walking on the beach, catching up on e-mails,
shopping, working out or just doing whatever "floats
your boat." Just like a real vacation!!!!
In the afternoons we always regrouped and took a
taxi together to the Pelourinho, a unique, quaint
historic center where we did our sightseeing and
window shopping. There were magnificent churches
everywhere.
All were completely different from one another and
over the top gorgeous! The local art was also
amazing (of course I bought some) as were the
crafts and sexy little Brazilian clothes. The women
wearing them weren't bad either and really know how
to "strut their stuff!" I am happy to report that
my "two men" have been GREAT about not gawking
at the "local attractions" when I am in their
presence. True gentlemen! I bought a cute little
mini wrap skirt (just to blend in of course!!) It shows
about a millimeter of midriff but that's all it took for
Umberto to start calling me "the naked lady!" Richard
on the other hand complimented me on my break
from "tomboy" attire. However, I didn't count on
that wind blowing it up over my face the entire
night!!!! Just can't stop stepping out of that box!!
Every night we went to our favorite restaurant in the
district and sat outside with all the action. The food
was fabulous and my wrap skirt continued to expand
nicely with every bite!! We ordered capoeiras, a
popular local drink which also appears to be the ONLY
alcoholic beverage that doesn't give Richard and me
a headache-- so, we indulged every night!
By the way, Umberto now speaks Portuguese too.
That makes a total of 6, yes, SIX languages! Took
him only about 3 ½ days to learn that one!! Like me,
Richard's not fluent in any language but it's amazing
how he can carry on a whole conversation with
someone who does NOT speak a word of English. So,
I let him do all the talking-- or should I say hand
gesturing!!
The entire trip has been truly incredible!! I keep
pinching myself to make sure it's really me being
treated like a princess. RR and I are on the same
page now with everything and have our routines
down pat. The relationship actually feels
very "comfortable" and "easy." I can honestly say
we are really good friends and there are no more
awkward moments.
To the FFF's (Fabulous Five to Follow): You're going
to have a BLAST! No worries! I've done my job well
as the "pioneer!!" RR now knows what to expect
from all rest of the "crazy" ladies that he's selected.
I have assured him, however, that I'm the SANEST,
the most FUN, the most NORMAL, the BEST traveler
and the most ADAPTABLE of the entire group. Oh, I
also have the biggest hair!!! Soooo, you're all now
on your own!!!!! Be sure to pack light and leave
room for your entire set of encyclopedias since most
of the computers over here are from the Stone Age
and "google" is often not available. You'll need
reference materials to keep up with the wealth of
information that "waterfalls" from Richard's brain!!
Speaking of waterfalls-- we're off today to Iguassu
Falls for some more fun. Can't wait! I'll probably be
ready to do some more "dangling" there for sure so
be ready!! At least this time it will hopefully be over
water!!
Thanks for following along,
Vicki
Wow! One of the finalists really knows how to party! She is bringing along no fewer than 12 of her friends on the cruise this summer! I exchanged emails with Shawn, our Personal Cruise Consultant, and she wants me to remind you that these two cruises are in the "peak" of the Alaska cruising season. They are very popular in their own right- much less with the added attraction of having us party-ers on board! So please start checking your travel calendar and, if you think there is a chance you want to go, contact her ASAP. Your deposit goes directly to Holland America Lines and is completely refundable up to 75 days before the cruise.
For information about the Senior Bachelor Cruise, click here! Remember to send me an email at Richard@seniorbachelor.com if you need a cruise cabin mate to save the single supplement. We've already matched up a whole bunch of people and I will be able to help you even while on the Journey. From Peggy: "To the rest of the SB hopefuls-I joined Perfect Match about 10 days ago, and am overwhelmed-I have had two dates with the same man, a brunch date this Sunday, and so many e-mails, I am having trouble keeping track-it does wonderful things for the ego! So.....if you haven't joined, you might give it a try!" Ladies and Gentlemen, many of you have taken the free PerfectMatch Compatibility Profile to learn more about themselves to get better prepared to meet and date. You should try it out, too. One of the criteria for the 22 Finalists was to take the Free Compatibility Profile and I used the results in making my decisions. I did take the Free PerfectMatch Compatibility Profile, and it described me to a "T." It was simple and took less than 15 minutes. Of course, the proof is in the pudding, and only time will tell how this service works for you. My recommendation is to take the Free Compatibility Profile (click here to try it), and if you like what you see with the Profile results, and your budget can afford it, give it a try, and then later tell me your feelings. Good luck. We all are looking for our Perfect Match!!! Many people have asked about our association with PerfectMatch. After seeing Duane Dahl, the founder of PerfectMatch on Dr. Phil this past June, and doing some research, we felt this was a company we would like to start an association with to see what kind of results they might provide. I know from working with the Oprah folks how careful they are to research their guests, as does Dr. Phil, and this encouraged me. (Photo courtesy of "Merry Mary".) From Linda- "You asked for feedback regarding PerfectMatch. I have subscribed to several online relationship sites with varying amounts of success. However, I believe PerfectMatch has combined the most succinct and efficient program available for those of us with the mature status. Not only is help readily available if needed, the site navigation is seamless. I believe the questionnaires are very well done and if participants answer truthfully, the potential for finding the "perfect match" is excellent." From a reader in Georgia- "I never desired nor felt the need to join a dating service. On a lark, I decided to try the free personality profile with PerfectMatch. I was floored and amazed how right on they were on about me."
