Chicago- Crazy Hat Party!- More Fun!!- Photos VI
As promised- more Crazy Hat Photos!
It's our plan to develop new pages for posting photos starting with ones Umberto and I took from the Crazy Hat Party. I'm working with the web folks right now to do it. We had to go through several different options and find the right one. Because we were in Chicago, we're behind on getting this done. We should have it done soon. And then we'll ask for the photos from everyone else- both digitial and printed (which I will scan and post). Thanks for your patience-- I'm pedaling as fast as I can!! Also, it was very technically challenging to get the earlier Chicago photos up on the blog. I'll spare you the details but that is the reason there were so few captions on the earlier photo groups. Plus, I had limited time. -joe
Chandra knows what she wants! Note Carol's "City of Chicago Skyline" hat. Amazing!

Angie's hat had flashing lights!

Merry Mary's Mistletoe-- say that three times fast! Ask Mary what the sign read- LOL!

Erika from Lake Arrowhead (Is that See's Candy in your hand?!)

Georgette. She graciously donated some wonderful skin care products for the drawing.

Jennette- a beautiful Belle from Mississippi.

Yvonne from Hawaii- Along with Corrine from Hawaii, she won the "Furthest Traveled" Contest. Fellow Blogette Cathy from Carolina cheering her on!

Many enterprising Ladies used materials from the Hotel- note the lampshade!

Items purchased across the street at a CVS Drugstore! I think the expression is "The woman makes the clothes!"

Karen continues the "around the world" theme with postcards and souvenirs.

It's "I'm Connie-Pick me!"

These Ladies "unpacked" Richard from a suitcase to show they can travel light...

Richard the Second graciously dances with the Ladies. (almost too real!)

Richard the First dances also!

Hmmmmmm....

Hmmmmm....again!

Umberto gets a warm homecoming from the Franklin kids!

Ladies, more photos to come. I'm going to update the "Meet the Senior Bachelor Page" on the website with more photos sometime this week. Stay tuned for a very important Newsletter coming out tomorrow! Thanks.
-joe
PS- I just realized that is Nancy peeking from below the welcome home poster. If you would like to read the "Roe"st she did for Richard in Manhattan Beach (and read more of her writings) go to her website at www.mirthquakes.com. Oh, and from there you can write her a note and tell her I behaved myself (sort of!)

Hey Joe (and Umberto)! These are great pics! What fun we had!!
I'm definitely going to write to Nancy ... and tell her what a gentleman you are ... and how much we all appreciate your kindness to us! Thanks for your patience with all of us 'crazy ladies' ... and for all that you did to make the Chicago event such a great success! Sooooo glad that I was able to be a part of it all! Thanks much!!
Warm regards,
Brenda
Hey Cathy!
Are they still having computer problems there at The Palmer? Maybe the person who designed their Elevator system also designed their Internet set up. Know what I mean? (ha ha ha ha)
Jackie said that you were staying on a few days in Chicago! Have lots and lots of fun! Was so great meeting you! I posted a note to you on your Blog! Great pics there as well! We all 'done good'! : )
Warm regards,
Brenda
The skit with the fake Richard was so funny! It should be done on Oprah! Hilarious!
I just want to post one more time here and explain why, I was as frustrated about connectivity, as the folks back home were.
We had a Heck of time, posting anything at all. Connection in our room would not upload pics.
My laptop wouldn't go wireless at the Hotel. I am at least getting an in and out signal today, but still want to "cuss like a sailor" I have to connect every 1 or 2 minutes.
If Flowerchild and I had not used our "Southerly Charms" at the Business Center and got some free access to their computers on a couple of brief occasions, I am afraid you would have had a "linching mob" ready for us when we showed our faces back here.
Anyway!!!!! We tried our darn-est!!
You did not want to hear and see what was going on, more than we wanted to Brag about our Terrific time!!!!!!
Please go back to previous blog and read my sunrise blog that I have been trying to post all morning, I would hate to think that I "sweated blood" over this effort, this morning, for nothing.
I am right now sitting in a Beautiful Condo right on Lake Michigan, looking down on the exact spot that DesertFlower posted for me on my Bog!!!!
Saying that I was coming to Chicago to meet the Infamous Roe, little did I know that I would be positioned here with little other desire in my heart today than to process what we experienced and write to everyone about.
Some said we get to do this again next year, Richard, is that true?????
I vote for Chicago!!!!!!
Did anyone get a way to contact Sunny from Lexington, Ky???Let me know and I will get my e-mail address to you rather than post personal info here, Thanks!!!
I am in Love!!!!I am in Love!!!!
...........with Life and all the Wonderful Hopes and Dreams I am taking home from our experience Here!!!!!!!
I'm going to go to my Blog now and run my mouth endlessly about the Incredible time we have had here!!!
Ya'll Come Now, ya here!!!!!
PS
(While we wait for more UPDATES)
Thanks ELLA for
"AFTER AWHILE", the last comment on the prior Blog.
I have copied, pasted it into my teaching file and then printed it to use as a Hand Out at work. In my smaller groups, I will ask eash person to pick a topic they want to comment about. I wonder which will get the most attention?
I must repeat myself in saying, "One never knows who they might be helping."
We are all so, SO lucky to be in the segment able to be enjoying this SB adventure!!!!!
In last night's Group at work, I asked each who are not so Blessed what was the best thing that had happened to them during their day. Half way around the room, after her long hesitation, a lady said that the best thing she could come up with was eating 2 good oranges. A lady in the back came to attention on her chair. After the group was over, I went back to her and asked why she had seemed touched. She replied that she had given that lady the oranges and never figured that would/could have been the "Best Thing" in someones day.
I just had to share that bit of real life.
Mary Rose
O M G!!! too right CATHYINCAROLINA, but it don't think its just Chicago, i have been having trouble here in Vanc. too. I could not even access my own site...soooo.
these current photos are spectacular, i'm trying to see if i can guess who the lucky 12 will be...haven't come up with a one YET!
i'm looking forward to a reunion, i'm sure one is very likely, given all the enthusiasium i see on all the blogs.
CHEERS,
pj
Joe Fantabulous job of keeping us in the loop! Say, in addition to all this...don't you also have a real job to deal with? Ha ha. Richard What a great idea you came up with on the spur of moment to do the crazy hat thingie. What wild succulent women!!
Hey! That's me in the pig ears! I'm still looking for my kermie!
Could it be you Richard?
I'm glad everyone had a great time in my hometown. I am so proud of Chicago. Look me up when you return for the reunion!
YEH, I now know how to BLOG thanks to Chandra who told me to click on Comments!
Promise I am out of here to my Blog!!!
But wanted to say that I will post our lyrics (on my blog) to:
"Traveling is A Girl's Favorite Thing" and the origination of that, if some of the other Show's at the HAT PARTY will recap the productions for those folks who were not there.
I guess we do not have audio/visual of those wild and crazy antics that we could share on line do we Joe and Umberto??
Scratch that, I don't think I want to see my self wiggling my Butt at the audience while singing:
"Men grow cold as girls grow old
And we all lose our charms in the end
But square-cut or pear-shaped
These Rears will lose their shape
Yet,Richard's still our new Best Friend!!!!!!!
But I, on the other hand, am dying to hear the words again that you guys came up with to introduce the Blow-up Richard Roe.
Hey you ladies better get a
patten(?sp) on this thing, you think they made money on the Cabbage Patch Kids!!!
The World Ain't seen Nothing Yet!!!!!!
I agree with Clickgirl on Joe, Nancy, you have one heck of a guy there!!!!!
He was so funny thinking that he had a chance resisting, as we dragged the only other "male representation of the human race that we had" out to dance with circles of women around him!!!
Even Poor Umberto had to run for cover, every chance he had, to keep from being yanked onto the dance floor by these over 40, 50 and 60 year old adolesences!!!!
I think he and Richard have the idea now, that it is time for re-enforcements!!!!!!
(please ignore my spelling....as this "still on location reporter" does not know how to use spell check in connection with this blog and not a dictionary in site.)
Oh wow is me!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am still booting up every 3 or 4 minutes, someone said you can get wireless in the Park,
I think I will go outside and enjoy
this continuing beautiful weather!!
This is CathyinChicago signing off here
... as we try to sort through the Insanity of what happen here and keep for posterity those incredible memories that we feel we could not live without!!!
YEH! I now can blog thanks to Chandra telling me to click on comments..What great pictures! Cathy, your spirit is contageous and great! What wonderful memories from this weekend. Jennette from Miss. gave me a worn card she has carried for years and names of books for me to read after hearing about my life - watching Richard dance with Josie (Slovania woman from Wis) Richard was having such a great time, they danced the entire song instead of our 15-30 seconds and everyone loved it...Having a cab driver stop at a drive through to pick up Chicago hot dogs for us on my way back to southside to my daughters at 1:30 AM. Thanks to Bette/Mpls for letting me sleep in her room the night of the cruise (Richard said I had the Walk of Shame because I showed up in my same clothes from the night before)walking back from the cruise and having our pictures taken sitting on a statue of a man! and Mass. sailor (carmen maranda) talking of our lives...Marlyn from Houston carting us around Chicago to clubs-Chicago ROCKS! many more but Carol Lee/Denver giving me her cd is another story. She had only two left, gave me one and a beautiful woman next to me the other. The woman would not accept it because it had the world GOD on it and even when Carol Lee said it was just spiritual she would not accept it. We stood there stunned, but a lovely woman standing there said "don't worry, now you have one left for someone who needs it and will enjoy it." What amazing women!....Thanks for the memories. Karen
Hello Ladies,
Please let me know if you see yourself in a photo and you want me to identify you. I'll go back and post your name- or blog name.
I know I was a poor second to the main man but you all made me feel so appreciated and I want to thank you for that. It's not unlike an actual marathon. You spend weeks mostly by yourself training and training. Then, finally, it's race day and you get to run this tremendous event with so many other people. Lot's of great energy and it was a pleasure meeting you all. I had a ball (er, uh-- Nancy, it was work, work, work--- really.)
Cathy, would it be possible to share the lyrics of "Travel is a girl's best friend" here on the blog? Thanks.
And can somebody please provide me the names of the Ladies responsible for "Blow Up Richard the Second". Too much!
Yes, I do have another job and I better get to it!
-joe
Hi to AnitainChicago and
HustonKaren welcome to Blogsville!!!
Former Bloggetts, we have invited everyone we met to join here and told them that we ourselves, don't know a darn thing about even putting our own Pics here, but that you techie ladies would help them, so if anyone is inspired to do so, we might better write something up on posting a picture for your blog, I guess Linda's stuff is still there, huh??
Anita I am still here, if you want to talk click on my outdated picture here and come over to my blog.
Oh, just start deleting me
I can't shut up!!!!!
CathyinChicago
Hey Ladies,Joe Richard and Umberto,
I am in Miami until Wednesday night but wanted to say hello and check in. I love the new pictures. My what wonderful memories we made in Chicago. I am still smiling.
PAM- I am glad you finally made it home - you get the prize for the longest travel home.
RICHARD- Happy to hear you got home safely also. Have you rested up yet for the next adventure?
Nancy - your Joe is a sweetheart! He was a complete gentleman and always had the best attitude.
Umberto - Thanks for the great pictures and helping with the fun.
Take care all and have a great evening..
RR - Sweet Dreams
OOPS - meant to say hello to Cathy in Carolina - very insightful thoughts from Chicago - enjoyed reading them. It was so fun to meet you and you are a doll.
Linda - thanks for posting the pictures.
Brenda/clickgirl - great great pictures - thanks you are a wonderful lady.
So many fabulous women that I enjoyed meeting - hello to all.
Nighty nite
Hi all,
Hey lady, welcome "Houston Karen" I knew you could do it! I can't believe that me (who is technically challenged) got you on the blog. Please email me with my address on the business card I gave you. Thanks.
I am still on a high - don't know about any of the rest of you? I just went and worked out after 5 days and spending 3 days eating See's chocolates and having fun. Now we have to pay the piper.
Such a blast that it's going to be hard to live up to but I am ready to do it again!
I feel that we have formed a group of powerful and dynamic women who should at least put together a newsletter of our own just to share in the networking to see if we can't be of help to each other. I formed a newsletter from my high school class called Connections that is sent out by mail every 4 months or so. That way we are able to stay with the changing addresses at the post office. Many classmates donate to the cause and we stay in touch with what everyone is doing and have a ball when we get together.
That's all for now and I am still reeling from the fun we all had. Thanks to Joe and Umberto - we can enjoy the fun afterward too.
Hugs,
Chandra
I was feeling left out, so I thought I'd put my crazy hat on for awhile! Ha ha. Richard check in and tell us what your day looked like today!
Hello All! I was just about to post this message - right after Cathy’s noonish message on the last SB Blog – when my internet service went out (turned out to be a six hour outage – from a severed cable – and it affected most of the state of Florida).
Anyway … just wanted to say - Thanks Suzan ... and to the others who have made such positive comments on these last few Blogs!
And Cathy ... how amazing you are!!!! I am so glad that we had the chance to meet! You are one beautiful woman (and I echo what someone else said - your pics don't do you justice!) ... you are beautiful - inside and out! Not to mention ... a 'Party Animal'. Ha Ha What energy!!
Seriously - I posted my comment before reading yours ... and have just now finished reading the SB Blog (still haven’t caught up yet - on all the Blogs) ... but your comments from the last Blog definitely speak for me … and what I saw and experienced. It seemed - from the moment we all gathered together we were 'friends'. I was in Chicago on Biz as well - so didn't attend a lot of the day functions ... but I was just so amazed - even on Thursday night - how so many people who had never met seemed to have instantly bonded ... and there was just this really warm and fun spirit throughout the entire event. And Saturday - Oh My Gosh! What a night! For anyone who thought Richard couldn't dance (Thursday night he was saying he wasn't very good) ... well ... all I have to say is - Richard is a great dancer ... and danced with nearly every woman there! What a gracious host!
I'll have more comments on my Blog (Part III of my Chicago Journal) - and will probably have that ready later tonight - but I just had to say a big 'Ditto' to what Cathy posted! Let there be Peace AND Love!! Thanks Cathy!!
Peace & Love,
Brenda
You guys and gals are wonderful!!
Richard, Joe, and Umberto...love your fun spirit and great attitudes as you work day and night to support the cause of promoting romance and adventure...!!!
Thank you all for making the weekend a time we'll cherish, remember, and hopefully revive for years to come.
The feeling of excitement that "something's coming, something good" continues to encircle my head. Does anyone else have that feeling?
CathyinChicago/carolina....you said it all so well at the end of the last blog...thank you!
I'm still blog-challenged and haven't been able to post my picture even with the help of Linda in Tucson's instructions...help!
Hugs to all and especially my fantastic roomies-Addie and LindaP.
Connie
Hi, I'm Bea. Joe just came in to have his teeth cleaned in our dental office. Good thing he doesn't look like Richard's fake bucktooth smile.
Joe fell asleep in our chair. What are you ladies doing to him!
Saw the photos. Spectacular show! Good luck to all!
Bea
i'm connie-pick me! I gotta tell you, I thought your beauty pageant name banner was the most clever thing ever! Add to it the peacock balloons...you win!
I think it's great when we can all put a face to the names when we blog in...so if you'd like, you can e-mail your pic and your blogger password and I'll put yours on for you. I have only been known to play one "funny" with someones password...and that was to put a pic of Mae West on Paula's profile...I promise I won't do that but you can always change your password right afterwards.
Bea You are cracking me up! What are you going to do with poor Joe while he is asleep in the chair???
What will Bea do while Joe is sleeping? Too funny Linda!
Linda I'll send what photos I have, unfortuately my camera had a mind of its own that night. (One second it flashed then the other not)
***A hearty thank you to Richard for being a gentleman, Joe for being a gentleman, and Umberto for being a gentleman. Did I tell you they were gentlemen?! They are always naughty in my dreams!
All the ladies that I met in Chicago and Manhattan Beach and anyone else that wants to spend some time next November(2006) at "The Nutty Mermaid" on the beach in Abaco, Bahamas, keep in touch. It sleeps 10 max unless we get some blow-ups :) This will be on me as far as the house goes, you will have to pay your airfare and chip in for food and drinks. My e-mail is mbahr5@aol.com
It was a pure pleasure to meet everyone! New friendships were made and fun was had by all. I still have the globe if you need to make a quick trip around the world with Richard.
Keep smiling, time is precious, and always make it a great day!! MIchelle
Aloha ROEmeo...jOE ...UmbertO...Posse and Blogettes!
LINDAINTUCSON: go ahead...make my day! Nice to catch a glimpse of the veil again ;)
SKYWATCHER 'ELLA': thank you for the info. on the eclipse this day!
Interesting as tonight is Rosh Hashanah and I have decided to do it 'my way' this year in that I am keeping a low profile and communing with Nature more than ever before! Tomorow I am going to cast bread into the flowing river a short walk from where I live. The ritual is called Tashlich, the bread/sins must be cast into the river before Sunset, a very powerful ritual that I have never done before and feel for whatever reason compelled to doing it for the very first time!
Interesting timing with your message....thank you once again!
I am by no means religious whatsoever but connect to Mother Earth Energy and the Cosmic Energy too of course for I am a StarChild;)I came in on the Pink Ray, so I've been told! (LOVE)
Here's to ROEMANce AND ADVENTURE
Senior Bachelorette:)
Val The Gal
Michelle you Nutty Mermaid Flying Massage Therapist OK I just got your boatload of pictures and you qualify for your own page on NNBBSH. Stay tuned!
P.S. to Val the gal I put the veil on just for you, ha ha
(aka Nancy in Ohio)
Hi Everyone! Welcome new bloggettes, especially those we told about blogging in Chicago! I shared a cab to O'Hare with Lynn from Sacramento, so I was early for my plane, and then it was delayed another 3 hours or more - they never really said why - defects in radar or something.... I finally got home at almost 2:00AM this morning.
Thanks to Richard, Joe, and Umberto for planning the activities, and thanks to all the wonderful women for being so friendly and nice. What a whirlwind of activity! It's difficult to get back to normal. I'm anxious to see what plans will be coming in the future. It's good to know that it's not all over with.
Thanks, too, for those of you who are posting all the interesting pictures.
Nancy
Great job with the pictures keep them coming.
Richard: You were great
Joe: Your the life of the party
Umberto: Your just plain adorable
Ladies: You were all wonderful

Good to see you back on the Blog

Hi Everyone,
Fortunately Chandra got on line last night before I tried and couldn't and she really said it all! It was a perfectly wonderful, fabulous weekend! My only regret was that there were so many great gals I never even got a chance to speak with. And even though I tried, I missed getting some of the email addresses of those I did meet. Hopefully that list will be forthcoming SOON. (Pam -in RI-, I'd love to keep in touch, so if we don't get the list let me know how I can reach you.)
Saturday night was so terrific that I couldn't sleep when I got back to my girlfriend's place. Ended up just getting out of bed and taking pictures of the sunrise on the lake.
Anyway, I still haven't come down from my high. Thanks to Joe, Richard, and Umberto for throwing a great party and thanks to all of you who came and made it such a special time!
Carol
Ladies,
Please feel free to share your Chicago photos with me and I'll post them on the blog!!
-joe
Please send them to joe@seniorbachelor.com
And, it's true, I did fall asleep at the dentist's while they were doing my semi-annual teeth cleaning!
-joe
Ladies one and all.Such a marvelously diverse group. I am so happy to have met a great many of you. I know that I did not get to meet everyone.
This is one of my favorite sayings. I think it applies here.
" Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting....holy shit....what a ride!!!"
Linda in Tucson...
Thank you for your offer to help and your kind words. The banner and balloons turned out to be great fun and a good conversation starter-not to mention how good they looked on Joe!!!
I need to learn how to post the pictures, but no need to take up blog space...how can I reach you?
Sweet dreams everyone...
Connie
Hello I'm Connie Pick Me
It's so nice to put a face with the blogger. Your banner and balloons were so cute and such beautiful colors too! It was a real attention getter and that you did!
Cathy
Thanks for your sunrise blog...very insightful. I love your pics...I'm looking forward to reading the lyrics to "Traveling Is A Girls Favorite Thing". I also hope someone posts the remarks made by the bloggettes who came up with the "Richard in the Suitcase Dummy!!! I'm sure you were all in stitches when they pulled him out!
Mary r
Thank you for sharing the story about the oranges. An excellent message for all of us. Sometimes the most simple things we do for others are the most important and the most meaningful.
Ella AKA Skywatcher
Thank you for sharing "After Awhile". It's a keeper too.
Anita in Chicago AKA Miss PiggyThanks for pointing out for us which bachelorette you are. Miss Piggy, cute idea...also welcome...
Houston Karen
I thank Chandra for bringing you to our blog. I look forward to hearing more from you... and welcome...
Joe
Thank you so much for putting names with the faces in the pictures. I realize you don't have them all but you sure did a great job with those you did have! I hope others will let you know their names also.
I think I'll retire early for a change (probably wake up at 3 am!) Oh well, I'll take that chance.
Good Nite Richard, Joe, Umberto, and wonderful ladies...
Peace and Love To All
WOW - more fantastic pictures and names too; thanks Joe and Umberto. That is so great, thanks to all of you and especially Umberto as I know you must have been really busy with your camera for sure....looks like it was a Crazy Hat Parade how fun! I just loved it. Made me feel like I was there too.
Welcome all the new bloggers; I have been so busy and haven't had a chance to do much blogging, but I have been reading some and love all the postings and being kept in the loop. Thanks ladies you are wonderful to wonderful for words.
It is so nice to see Chandra in her awesome hat too and put a face to the name and emails we have shared. How exciting! And oh so many new faces and great ladies now too yippee! What a thrill the reunion and cruise next year will be. Best of luck to you all in these last days; Congratulations too to those lucky 12.
Richard I wish you all the best in finding great traveling partners and ultimately your soulmate. You deserve it after putting forth such an abundant amount of positive high energy and renewing and energizing the spirits of us all. You have exuded living life to the fullest by going for it and doing just that. Sharing your dream and vision with each and every one of us since April 27th of this year.
I wish you easy, lucky karmic decision making this next week or so. I pray it all works out beyond your wildest plans and dreams.
Again many thanks for the motivation and reassurance you gave me as one of the many ladies who saw, met and has enjoyed all of the wild, fun trip its been so far.
Giant kudos once again to Joe (Nancy and the kids too), Umberto, Richard's Rangers and all who helped with all the website, newsletters, events and all...and of course all the ladies without whom none of it would've been possible....you ROCK!
Love, HUGS, and all good things daily, GOD BLESS~
Ann (aka ladejag :)

Cathincarolina You are a real hoot of a person. The pictures that have been presented by you Clickgirl, Paula, and MerryMary are the greatest. All of you were so great together and it just felt like I was there with all of you. The smiles were obvious that you all were having so much fun and I can hear the music playing and feel the rhythm in my feet bouncing up and down when I'm viewing the pictures.
Richard, Joe and Umberto It looks like you really did it in Chicago, pulled off a fantastic party and everyone looked like they were having so much fun. TERRIFIC!
Clickgril I hope you got to talk to Richard about your films, because your description of the events were excellent. You are a true writer and with every written word brought me to the edge of my chair just visualizing the events that were unfolding. Thank you so much for taking the time to give us such a detailed representation of the Chicago Adventure.
Now for the next leg of this event is Richard's choices. But Brenda you said it so well it explaining what Richard is trying to do and I fell if we all stand together Richard is correct in the fact that we will become noticed.
Hugs Suzanne aka Desertfox by Richard
Just skip over the misspelled words - it's late and I'm tired. I think you get the message.
Hugs Suzanne aka desertfox by Richard
Well,
CathyinChicago is still here and may have to wait until I get back home to post lyrics.
I am going to try to get some rest(since it is almost 2:00 AM), and I want to catch the Sunrise in the Morning.
I know sleeping in the Moonlight always energizes me, but now we have something going here about Sunrises.
We had someone on Duty for Sunrise, Sunday AM here on Lake Michigan, and I definitely was asigned this AM and have not slept since, despite my body's obvious exhaustion the inspiration of what is happening here has kept me going.
And if I awake at dawn in the morning I will know it is meant to be since, I should be totally exhausted.
Joe your sleeping in the DDS chair was great!!!!!
I think you were an example of all of us!!!
These two extra days resting and writing here on my perch above Lake Michigan may well keep me from dying and I sure do not want to check out now, I'm having too much fun.
You know suddenly it does not matter "Who said What", for we all seem to be in agreement about what is happening here!!!!
It is Awesome!!!!
It is something about Life and Love, and I am glad that it is coming from everyone 'cause that's the way it is supposed to be.
Goodnite!!!!!!From Chicago!!!!!
CathyinCarolina aka CathyinChicago
As mentioned by Desertfox, EVERYONE (including our intrepid SB crew) should go to Clickgirl's blog for a great wrap-up of the Chi event. Many thanks, Brenda. You are fabulous! I loved seeing and hearing about all the fun! Connie AKA dancingirl
Joe,
Here are the names of the wonderful ladies in the Richard II in the suitcase skit:
Patty Crow(IL) (She made & brought the blow up Richard II)
Sharon Bramer(KY) & Peggy Rondeau(MA) –danced with Richard II
Angie Blalock(LA), Jini Lester(IL) & Jane Papagiannis(IL) –were the backup singers plus Karen Tribble(KY) (suggested the song, which was a Richard Roe rendition of Hayley Mills' 'Johnny Jingo')
Hi Cathyincarolina & Joe.
I'll send Joe my disk of photos, including the sunrise Sunday morning. It was certainly symbolic for me - and perhaps for many of us. Glad you're following up on it, Cathy. The challenge will be to keep the momentum going!
Carol

Good Morning Everyone,
Yeah For Click Girl, Brenda,
your continued work and talents have been wonderful! I think Richard should pick you.
Cathy in C, you turned my "Say something KEY" when you mentioned "Sunrises".
Again, the other morning at work, I was on the 5th floor getting to see the most beautiful sunrise coming over the mountains. A group of 5 STAFF came by. I said "WHOW, LOOK AT THIS AWSOME SUNRISE!" Only 3 out of the 5 took a second to turn their heads an inch to see. That sunrise will never be repeated. We can only wish them (and ourselves) more opportunities, and the insite to SEE and "Go for them."
The first call I recieved this AM canceled a dinner tonight because my friend's granddaughter got hit by a car while riding her bike to school this AM. She is in the hospital but will be OK. One of her first comments was "When can she ride my big white horse again?"
There are so many "Parts" in this "Awsome" world.
May we each do
Ours well.
Thanks Richard for getting us together.
Mary Rose
Good morning Ladies,
First off, thanks for sharing such wonderful and heartfelt thoughts. I think there was definitely something fantastic in the air. I can't quite grasp how to describe it (and I'm probably not the one to try!!).
Let me try to describe what I saw and heard and then you can help put it into words. To me the best example of what happened was what I observed at breakfast time. On Friday morning, even though many had met at dinner at La Cantina the night before, the breakfast area was somewhat quiet and reserved. But then, after a day of meetings in both the large and small groups and the dinner cruise that night, breakfast on Saturday morning was absolutely "electric". Our corner of the restaurant was literally "buzzing" with excitement!
Now if you can explain what happened in those 24 hours we will capture the essence of the Senior Bachelor endeavor!!
Also, I want to talk about the event at Manhattan Beach and the one at Chicago. One was not better than the other-- they were just a little different. I think everyone was a little nervous and had trepidations about Manhattan Beach. Certainly we were! We had no idea how it was going to turn out- both from a logistical and an emotional viewpoint. And yet, it was very magical, energetic and fantastic beyond all of our expectations. So many women in Chicago said they never would have come to Chicago if they had not read the comments from the women who went to Manhattan Beach. The terrific experience in Manhattan Beach probably help set the stage for a more relaxed atmosphere in Chicago.
I know Richard was more relaxed going to Chicago and maybe that helped in coming up with the idea for the Crazy Hat Party, for example. By feeling more comfortable, he was able to let more of himself come out- heck, he even put on his buckteeth! (Brenda "Click Girl" said five women dropped out of the running because they thought they were real- LOL!)
So both Events were different and yet very similar. There was a transformation that took place for many women that, on the whole, was very good and positive. We owe a debt of thanks to the women of Manhattan Beach for being the pioneers in this endeavor and helping pave the way for others to follow just as each subsequent group will make it easier and more fun for future groups. And then you are all connected.
-joe
Joe, I think you just said it so well, I was thinking the same thing, Look How Far We Have Come in just a few months. Every new endeavor takes a while to iron out the 'bugs' and things can only get BETTER!!!!! Thank you to all of the Super Women that have stayed positive and open to all the wonderful possibilities Richard has offered us.
Joe Thanks so much for your comments comparing and contrasting the MB event to the Chicago one. I think you're right on the mark about some nerves in MB. But, speaking for myself, I'm more of a "beach" than "big city" girl, so am very glad I took the chance to be a "pioneer," as you so aptly put it. Through the Chicago photos, we could see an even more relaxed and fun-loving Richard.
Richard I can just see you riding along the Strand, stopping to toss a volleyball around wherever you find a game, and popping in for a meal at the RockNFish. As the weather cools off here and the trees change from green to various shades of reds, oranges, yellows, and browns, my heart (and brrrrr body) yearn to return to the beautiful and warm sandy shores of MB. Thanks again for a "fantabulous" time.
Shalom and Happy New Year to ALL...ROEmeo...jOE...UmbertO, Posse and Gals on the blog! Jewish or not, the energy of this powerful COSMIC WINDOW today and tomorow is for all Humankind to 'tap in to' POSITIVE ENERGY!
SKYWATCHER 'ELLA':
I woke up this morning from an interesting dream! I was with my daughter and we visited Richard sitting behind a glass counter where he kept all his travel keepsakes from around the world. What I distinctly remember in particular was Malachite, which is one of my favourite stones, the deep emerald greens! Richard seemed to like that stone and had keepsakes in Malachite in addition to Wood and other materials....cloth etc. He sat in his chair across from the glass counter which seemed to be in a special room/office kinda place! My daughter stepped out of the room and closed the door so that Richard and I were able to talk!
There is more to the dream but if I don't write the details down right away, it slowly dissipates.

JOE: Oh m'goodness how sad that 5 gals dropped outta sight so to speak because of Richard's 'buck teef' LOL...oooh my stomach muscles are achin'...I cannot afford to miss the next event, hopefully this bl------y Settlement comes through soon. Things are moovin' but with this kinda stuff...snails pace, who knows! At this rate looks like I've gotta wait for the Alaskan Cruise next Summer! Oh why did I go and invest all m' $$$$$$'s on the Stockmarket in 1997!!!!! Well I have burnt m' fingers once, never again, and I aint a 'dumb blonde' in spite of it being 100% natural hair! OY VEY as they say;)
So, onward and upward we climb together through sunshine and stormy weather! Here's to ROEMANCE AND ADVENTURE, the show must go on!

I did not sleep through Sunrise and I had a wonderful Blog that I have been working on all morning, lucky for you that a cyber monster ate it!!!!!
Has this ever happened to anyone but me??????
So, I guess it must have been just for me, but if I find where it disappeared to, I am going to publish it to the Blog anyway, just in case someone else needs to hear it to.
Country Bumpkin is going Home!!!
But I promise you I am coming back, I cannot believe that it took me this long. I ate dinner with folks last night that i have loved for 36 years and seen only a handful of times.
I have my photo in front of a Building that I worked in at that time for a man named C.O. Finley,(Charlie Finley that owned the Oakland A's ).
This Building was on the next block from Palmer House , and when we were just strolling along there it was, like a blast from the past, I certainly did not remember the address, it was a visual thing !!!!!!
So, CathyinChicago is a bout to become CathyinCarolina again!!!
Love to all!!!!!!This is all about Love!!!!!!!
PS
And I have even done PS before.
As I was going out ot feed my "Team" of horses, remembering how I have promised to always keep them together, Even though they appear so different, one being solid black and the other solid white, each having such different personalities and natural talents, (I close Midnight's stall door every morning just so I can watch him open it and give it that one extra nudge so it won't tap him on the butt as he walks through for his feed).(Casper keeps nudging ME for attention before he even thinks about food)
But together they are the CLOSEST FRIENDS and when hitched to drive or even anywhere out together, they look to each other for reassurance.
Anyway, back to what I was thinking: With time and info
women share so willingly
the early morning breakfast group, or initial bloggers, or staffs, etc. etc., showed their talents and develeped into a team =
Teamwork
Back to Webster: Teamwork=
"The work of a number of persons acting together esp. with reference to coordination of effort and collective efficiency.
Our maturing ages have given us more time to develope and BLOOM. And to be Tried and Tested.
As we look at our youngsters, we know we have survived what they still have to go through.
Richard, What/Who do you want on your next team?

Good Day to all the wonderful ladies from Chicago and MB.
As Joe said earlier and is what I woke thinking was , thanks for the pioneers that went to MB I’m sure it made for a more organized, comfortable and fun event.
To Goldie AKA jenny…and Marilyn yes I got home fine just haven’t had time to return any calls yet. I got very lucky at the airport my first flight was delayed so I arrived 10 minutes late for my next flight. .but I took a chance and sprinted to the gate and they were about to close the door. Whew!!!! Was I glad I made it . I passed out in my seat with some guy asking me questions…when I awoke he commented that I must have really been tired and I said yes but it was a god kind of tired. I didn’t explain though , just left him to wonder.
My daughter asked when I arrived if I had known how it would turn out would I have done it…I said absolutely!!!!
I met some of the most beautiful, intelligent, and talented women. We all bonded , it was truly like a sisterhood. The events were even more fun than I had expected.
I had taken a chance on my roommate and she is quite the Hoot! Our room was like it had a swinging door
With constant chatter and rehearsal for the Marilyn Monroe act at the hat party. At one time I just had to go sit in the bar with a friend to have quiet time. But it was all good!! Cathy, you are the best roommate ever.
And sooooo much more attractive than her picture …l told her that we are gonna fix that girl! Got some good ones of her.
I was so glad to put the names with the faces of the bloggettes when I got there. I just wish all the MB girls could have been there too.
Oh! I cannot end without saying that Richard is a class act (even with his billy bob teeth) Joe and umberto as well. They all worked feverishly to ensure us a great party.
We graciously thank you for the warm and friendly hospitality.
Rachel AKA flowergirl
Oh! Willimina I forgot to put in the last post that I did tell Richard the kiss on the cheek was from you, However the camera did not flash the first time...so you got two kisses in. I'll do the dirty work anytime.(:-)

JOE -
I'm sure it hasn't escaped you two that you, Joe, are invariably the first non-Blogette (male, that is!) being addressed here! Is Richard feeling slighted (is he even aware?!!)?
Best!

Dragonflyfilly ! HI!!
Thanks for your visit at my site! And thanks for your nice comments!
The Blogs are addictive, aren't they?!
Did you go to Chicago, too? Which "hat" were you?? Keep in touch!
Hugs!

Cathyincarolina, sounds like you had a great morning. I am going to get the pic cd done tonight and send to you. I would like a copy of yours also if you don't mind..the floppy will be fine.
DARN! I keep meaning to ask, and now it looks like I'm "posturing" (I'm not!) ... but,
Does anyone have an idea how many women were there for the Chicago shindig? Guestimate??
Thanks, and
Hugs!
Suzan
it seemed like a thousand but in reality I would guesstimate about 200
Ladies,
It was a pleasure to meet all of you in Chicago! What energy! I did not get a photo of myself with Richard but someone with a disposable camera was kind enough to take one. I hope somewhere along the way, I will spot it on someone's blog!
JOE--
Thank you for being so helpful with the event. When you took us to Richard's suite for our interviews one group was still there and the next arriving. I am curious how you kept notes for Richard on who he might be interested in selecting or not selecting...who he would want to pull their biography and tape to review it again when he returned home. After awhile didn't the names and faces all just start to run together? Did you and Richard have secret signals? :)
In the spirit of things, I'm going to keep my silly hat on here for a bit more:)
Richard interesting
newsletter! In your words:
We all have different criteria; they may be too tall, or too short, too thin or too heavy, "GU" (geographically undesirable), have political and/or religious beliefs in sharp contrast from yours, etc. etc. etc.
How very true! I think that is what makes dating even more difficult as we get older. So many things we didn't take into consideration on our first go around.
Just a teeny question here: You also said:
Either in a Newsletter later this week, or the following week, the names of the women attending the October 29-November 5 week will be announced.
What are your plans around checking things out with these women (as far as whether they are still interested in being "in")prior to the announcement?
Details, heh heh..we want details!

How exciting the 12(interesting number) will be chosen soon, what an adventure ahead! When the chemistry is there(that elusive elixir) that flows between the two, then geographical location is irrelevant(there is no such place as far away) When I met my ex-husband, he lived in Johannesburg South Africa and I lived in Cape Town, I packed m' things and moved to him as I knew in my heart that there was potential, and sure enough there was...amazing potential at the time! We met December 1976 and married September 1977 and arrived in Canada January 1978! When that MAGIC happens everything falls perfectly into place for it is BESHERT/DESTINY!

Lady Base Camp -- you're writing is phenom!!
I just wrote a pretty long post, and it didn't make it here, who knows.
I wish I had your flair for writing, I wish the very colorful adjectives were floating around my brain when I needed them!!
I just read your post on Max for the first time. I say the first time, because I plan to re-read it. Again, your writing is fantastic, along with where you live! I could honestly see each and every location you described -- from the house parties to the waters edge, etc. Please keep writing!!
Richard, Joe, Umberto, Ladies (Women) of the Blog and ALL of my new friends from the Chicago event - now I can truely say My Kind of Town.
What an awesome group all of us are - I sort of thought that we were all quite special before I went to Chicago but meeting everyone convinced me that this is a very unique group with a very unique mission. Aside from the desire to travel with Richard we now have a greater mission to set into motion.
I understood the concept of marginalization throughout my career as a social worker - I just never used that term. I have seen what happens to individuals when they are victims of being marginalized by systems, family members, and opportunistic individuals. I worked in the Adult Protective Services Program and with systems that acted to protect individuals. I think that - for one - the advertising industry exploits all of us - I could go on - but I think most of you - put into Richards terms "get it".
Chicago was fun fun fun but beyond that the experience was empowering - so many dynamic women in one setting - just wish that I could have spent more time with all of you.
I did not leave until Monday - on Sunday afternoon when I was returning to hotel there was a man riding on a white horse - he was following a group of mostly men who were dancing, chanting, and drumming. It was a Hindu wedding procession - the man on the white horse was the groom who also happened to be a soap opera star and also played on Scrubs (I watch neither so I did not have a clue who he was-still do not.) The procession led the groom - minus the horse - into hotel where the bride was waiting - I did not see her but was told she was there. It was all quite exciting.
So Richard where was your white horse?
Until we all meet again -
Melanie
Great comments, Ladies, and questions. "Cathy in Carolina" I think you accounted for a good number of Richard's goosebumps when he wrote about the "re-awakening" in the newsletter. Thanks for sharing you thoughts.
"Mary R" I never got to swap my horse wrangling stories with you when you were in MB. I worked at a western riding camp for kids in Sasabe, Arizona (south on the border and west of Nogales)the summers of my late high school years. Horses and the great outdoors can teach us a lot about life. I envy your "horsey" lifestyle.
"bestest friend" thanks for the info. My sides are still aching from seeing "Richard the II" come out of that suitcase! Well done, Ladies.
"flowergirl" Isn't that the best kind of nap you can take on a plane?! They had to shake me to get me up from the dentist chair. Glad you made the flight.
"Suzan" I truly think Richard is grateful for the help on the blog. He is so busy with the videos, biograhies and everything else. He feels badly he cannot spend more time on it. I hope you all don't mind when I speak for him or answer some of the questions but I've heard him at just about every general meeting and a few of the smaller group meetings. I only answer for him if I feel confident I know the answer.
"barbara" Sorry, no special hand signals! Remember Richard said he did two crossword puzzles on Sunday- the NY Times and the LA Times. That takes a lot of concentration and a good memory- I can barely get through the LA Times Sunday crossword. And I'm sure he does them while watching some political show. I think he just has good concentration and good recall. And when he sees your video and photo he will recall your meeting.
Sorry, "linda from Tucson" he is on his own with the details of selecting. I purposely stay out of it because I am posting photos to the blog and putting them in the newsletter and blog so I don't want to know who he is thinking about.
And I second the motion for Click Girl's accolades. Thanks for giving another perspective to the happenings. And it was great to meet you.
Football practice carpool is calling. Back to my reality!

Joe in MB I'm so glad you mentioned that there was a small difference in the MB party vs Chicago. I felt terribly nervous while at MB and I think alot of the women did as well, and it reflected over to Richard and may have made him a little restrained in his ability to show his true silly nature. The night that we had the pink pants offer to RR by Connie truly showed how much fun RR could be and I was glad for it. All in all, we had a great time and meeting so many wonderful ladies was a beginning to some long time relationships. Mary Olive and Operawench were also the reason that night was such a kick.
Do you like my new picture?

Hello Everyone!
A special Welcome to all of the new 'Bloggettes'! And Thanks to all of you who have made so many very kind comments about my Blogs and meeting me! I can tell you - it was truly, truly an honor! And, Joe, Ditto! Was so great to meet you ... and I felt like we had known each other for ages! I can't thank you enough ... for all that you did for us!
Lady Base Camp - loved your description of Richard making his announcement. How cool that was! I was cracking up!
Lady Jayne - Janie Girl - thanks so much! You are too kind: )
Thanks for the vote - Mary R! But I'm not in 'the running' - as I didn't send in a vid/bio ... but I have a lot of Sisters who I am rooting for! : )
Hey Linda! I still love seeing you in that veil! And that definitely had to be the inspiration for so many 'wedding hats' in Chicago. Ha Ha! Glad to see you are still posting that! It's my favorite. : )
Hi Suzanne! Thanks so much for your kind comments! Much appreciated - especially that you 'get it'! : ) And ... you know ... you started a lot of it - with 'the Sisterhood'! : ) Also - I actually didn't talk to Richard about the doc stuff ... because the timing just didn't feel right - and I didn't want to take his attention and focus from what he was so excited about. I felt that I would have an opportunity at some other time - and you know, they say 'timing is everything' - and it just didn't feel right. And I also thought that I needed to be sensitive to all of the women who had paid money to come and get to know Richard - and if I took time that they deserved, I would have felt guilty. So ... I feel that my time will come - at some later time. Know what I mean?
Hey Cathy ... I had the same thing happen - with losing stuff while trying to post on my Blog! The night (morning) that I got home - and stayed up until 5 a.m. posting the photos - was because I lost one of the last Blogs three times (and it was the one with Richard and his teeth - so I HAD to have that in - ha ha) ... and another one - I lost twice! Was so frustrating - but I was determined not to go to bed until I finished. : ) So - I know the feeling!! : )
Hi Connie! Thanks to you - for your kind words! And, actually, Joe told me that Richard and him did check out my Chicago Blogs - because I told them there were photos they had to see! And I even made the Newsletter (with Paula and Cathy) which is such an honor! : )
To All of the Wonderful Bloggettes: I am still trying to recover from all of the fun and late nights in Chi-Town (or maybe I should say, early mornings - ha ha) ... but I wanted to take a quick moment to say that I am glad that there has been mention of MB - in relation to Chicago - though I don't think we need to 'compare' - and I really appreciate Joe's explanations about both events.
I think of Chicago as an extension of MB - and that we just were 'carrying on' for what our 'Sisters' started out at MB. And, certainly, the pink pants in MB were the inspiration for many of the skits that happened in Chicago. And MB set the stage for what was to come. So ... in my eyes ... we are all truly linked ... even those who were not able to attend. I wouldn't have stayed up until the wee hours - if I didn't feel so connected to all of you ... and if I didn't want to bring back to you what we were experiencing. I have so much more bubbling inside of me (like Cathy) - but really need to get a good nights rest tonight (I have an edit tomorrow - so need to be 'awake' - ha ha) ... so will be sharing more over the next few days. But just wanted to mention that - because I don't want people to feel that we think Chicago was 'better' ... or anything like that. It wouldn't have been as good ... had it not been for MB! And - there were a lot of differences.
At MB - the deadline had not passed yet - so there were many people there trying to check things out and considering submitting vids - and, it sounded like a lot of curious 'locals' were dropping in. In Chicago - all of that was behind everyone - and I'd venture to say that I was one of the few who had not submitted a tape - so most of the people there were 'in the running' - and just wanting to show Richard the best they had to offer. So - from that perspective - I think Chicago was very different.
At any rate - I am SO glad that
we can celebrate ALL OF IT!! We are ALL truly blessed! : )
I'm off now ... because I really should get some sleep. My best to all of you! And thanks for allowing me to be part of 'the journey'!
And thanks again ... to Richard, Joe and Umberto!! You guys are GREAT ... and know how to throw a great 'Party'!!
Peace,
Brenda
....After sleep deprivation in Chicago, I'm having a relaxing evening at home & wanted to share my thoughts with you Richard, Joe, Umberto and everyone connected with this awesome endeavor especially the ladies and the Bachelorettes from Manhattan Beach and Chicago. I was back in Chicago after 30 years and didn't recognize the place! My roomate Pat from MN & I saw Millenium Park, The Museum of Contemporary Art, and watched the sun set with a spectacular view for miles from the John Hancock Bldg and learned to use the L train and blue-line with the help of College student Ben that I've known since birth, a photography & film major studing in the windy city, we took him to lunch at: "Orange with A Peel" a
local student hangout, good food (I'm the run-on-sentence-Queen).
The Photos from the Odyssey, Crazy Hat, breakfasts, capture the essence of fun & enjoyment. The band was Just GREAT, the dance floor moved doing the "electric slide"! Imagine what fun the Alaska cruise will be this summer. Thank you Richard, Joe and Umberto, your efforts are so much appreciated.

From all kinds of flowers,
Seek teachings everywhere...
Like a deer who finds
A quiet place to graze,
Seek seclusion to digest
All that you have gathered...
And like a mad one beyond all limits,
Go where you please
And live like a lion,
Completely free of all fear...

Hello fellow bacheloretts, Joe, Umberto and Richard
The pictures are fantastic! It has been a pleasure to meet you all.
Our last evening in Chicago was a taxi ride downtown with our crazy hats waving and dancing through the streets and clubs. We told everyone to watch for all us ladies on the senior bachelor.com.
Hugs ans Kisses,
Elizabeth from Nova Scotia
