A Beautiful California Blonde!!

Joe here:

WOW!! I went to Richard's this morning and found him with this beautiful California blonde! "Richard," I exclaimed, "Have you made your first selection?!"

"I think so," he said calmly. "She is FUN, FIT and FREE. I just love her beautiful brown eyes. She is so affectionate and we've had great walks along the strand. I have to struggle to keep up. I think I have my hands full!"

I'm having trouble loading the photo of them together. Please bear with me... I think all you have to do is click on this link:

Hi Richard and Joe, I wonder what the possibility is for booking Compu.bus training time? I know there are a few of us that live here on the west coast that would like to attend a training day with the bus. I don't have anything like it in my neighborhood. It would be so fun to see some of the SB ladies and oh yeah training too. If we fill the bus will they come north to say the middle of the state?

Geee!! I'm glad you go for the blond hair and brown eyes!!

I had a hard time finding this photo, but it was worth it. Looks like it was a beautiful morning out on the West Coast! Today is the 8th day straight of pouring rain here in New York and the New England seaboard. We're waterlogged and getting moldy from waiting for the end. But, the end is near!! Isn't it?!!

Richard, I hope the fact that you look relaxed means that you've finished your arduous work! Hmm?!

We're all looking forward to the newsletter, or any kind of news. Please let this be over soon!

Hugs to all!!

Patty --Consider that you are here as Richard's guest with his friends Joe and Umberto and BlondieDog. Richard once said to consider this a converstaion in his "living room".

I did not read your words so do not know why they were deleted but must say some consider this an "open forum" with the right to say anything just like you have the "right" to say anything in any public place to anyone in "listening" range. I suppose this difference here is that the owner of the blog /any blog/ has the right to make calls about his/her tolerance for what appears there. Apparently what you said did not sit well with our host.

And he is our host.

Nice picture Richard......I/we once had a yellow lab. Sasha was her name. But she liked the water too much and one hot evening she tried to crossing the levee to the river for a swim and that is where she met her demise. A hit and run on the levee road. Crushed our entire family.

Swore off getting another dog. That lasted about one month.

Next pick was a beagle, Max. He is still with us (12 years young), but I don't have doggie custody. Miss that little bugger.

Nice to know you like blondes *grin*

The Final Countdown
The Grand Meltdown
One Step Closer
Towards Your Goal
To be reunited with THE Female Soul
Itz time for a celebration
And that's no exhageration
It is 'written' in the Stars
For Venus to realign with Mars;)
Whoever you choose
There's only WIN ...NO LOSE
So onward and upward towards the

Hi there everyone,
I finally had to put my two cents worth in. After reading the postings of the last few days, I found my mood changing from cheerfully plugged in and loving every minute, to complete and utter astonishment at the break down in communications that seems to be going on. I met a lot of fine people in Chicago, and I know a lot of the people blogging were from the MB get together, and they and I have never met, but if I were someone newly checking out the site, there is no way I could ever think that we women met for such an adventurous common cause, made such great new friends, and now it appears we have our own version of 'as the world turns'. People, please try to relax, and let's get back to the fun of waiting to see if a very handsome man has picked me, or you, or you,to continue on this exciting adventure with him. I myself have been quietly waiting on pins and needles for Saturday to arrive. I had been enjoying reading the blog, and hearing your stories, and inspirational materials, and just tuning into the joy and excitement this adventure has brought to me and I'm sure to others. Let's all go back to happily waiting to celebrate the ones chosen, and sharing good feelings. Enough said.

JOE- you have been a sweetheart through the past couple of weeks.

As I'm new to this blogging and new to the site, I wanted to say hi to Richard, Joe, and Umberto, and also to CathyinCarolina, and Jeanette and Rachel and Carol and Joyce and Barbara, and all those other great gals I met in Chicago.

Richard, or Joe
Just need a little clarification. The following was written at the end of the previous blog:
“I plan on sending out the "agonizing" letter Saturday, October 15. I plan on announcing the ladies who will be going forward in the Search in next week's Newsletter.”

When is the next Newsletter coming out where we find out who will be “going forward in the Search”? All the previous ones came out on different dates:
Oct. 11 – Tues.
Oct. 4 - Tues.
Sept. 28 – Wed.
Sept. 19 – Mon.
Sept. 14 – Wed.
Sept. 6 – Tues.

And so on …
Does this mean we’ll have to wait an agonizing 3, possibly 5, days?

Just wondering.
Thanks.

Hello Ladies,

How about that beautiful blonde? (oh, yeah, and who's that guy in the photo?) Couldn't resist. You know I've been working with all the photos and I forgot I took this one this past August.

The young Lady is "Soleil"- my sister's dog. If you remember she was in a kennel as my sister was traveling to Russia with her Sweet Adelaine (sp?) group/troupe. There was a severe outbreak of "kennel cough" and it was Uncle Joe and family to the rescue. My sister rescued her about four years ago. We think she is a Lab/Chow mix. A real sweetheart. (When I call my sister and get her answering machine I'll call to Soleil and whistle. My sister tells me Soleil's ears perk up and she looks for me when she hears it.)

I have turned into a certified cat person as our 16 pound, 8 year old male "adopted" us about 6 years ago. I was never a cat person but "Traveler" behaves so much like a dog that I've turned around on that. I've actually taught him to sit and roll over on command! He belonged to a neighbor behind us who moved about two miles away and he "traveled" back to his familiar haunts- twice! The second time we had him stay- his first name was "Jack."

The true definition of detente is what was happening in our happy home by the eighth (and final) day of Soleil's visit. I caught them sleeping on the living room carpet with about six inches separating their noses. Soleil went with me to a meeting with Richard that day because, well, you can't leave dogs behind like you can cats. You can, but not if you value your leather sofas and don't want them turned into chewey toys.

How about that for a poll question-- cat or dog lover or both (thanks Leslie for that suggestion earlier with the beard question!)

Erika, the poll is on the new "SB Photos" page on the SB website. There are some great shots of you and Richard at the Crazy Hat Party.

Sorry, Suzanne, but like Richard, we Franklins are teasers as well.

He's working hard, Ladies.

Oh gosh, this is all making me so homesick for Peaches. I had her 12 and a half years and she got low thyroid and her beautiful white hair started falling out and she got a bad stomach condition and possibly had a stroke and I had said I won't let her go thru what I did my last 2 that I kept until they died on their own so I had her put to sleep on April 29th. I miss her sooooo much. She won the cutest dog in the strut your mut parade 2 years and we got 2nd place for look alikes another year. We dressed like clowns and they ran our pictures in the paper. She was an ARF dog but she looked like full blood Samoyed. Anyway, she really was a sweetheart and she will be burried with me. She was cremated and I have her in an ern with Peaches was the joy of my life written on it. My kids said I took better care of her than I did them. She had her hair groomed at least once a month all her life. Since I live in a condo now if I get another pet I'll probably get a kitten. Have you all ever been to the website called Rainbows Bridge?. It's where pets go when they die to wait for their masters. It's really sweet. Val the gal would like it because of the poetry. You do really good poetry val. Well, thanks for listening to my goings on. This just made me miss her sooo much and I needed to talk about her to my sisterhood. You are all awsome. Hey Joe! Thanks for the cute pics of the doggy and kitty! And, of course, of Richard. (ha ha) Loved your stories about them too. Hope you are hanging in there! : )

Oh No ... JanieGirl! No pink slip for me! Please!!??!! I've just been busy at work ... and trying to get a bunch of paperwork done. As I am in a creative field ... doing all of the 'budgety' type work is very hard for me. It's not fun ... and it is difficult for me to get 'into'. So ... have been trying to concentrate and get it all completed. Has been a tedius work week. And then Blog Hopping when I get home (so many Blogs ... so little time)! So ... sorry I haven't been posting much. But I have been reading ... and ... I have been 'praying for peace'. And ... 'World Peace'. : )
Hope you will take back the pink slip ... as I think Joe is doing a great job of 'keeping the peace' here. Don't you think?

Karen JW - Welcome! I so agree with what you said! I always look at posting on any Blog as a reflection of who I am ... and often wonder what people who 'drop in' think - when things start to get nasty or unreasonable. And ... we know that there are guys out there (the ones that we call 'the strong, silent types) ... because they have written from time to time. But why would they want to stay ... if they have to come and read such negative stuff, from the 'Nergatives'? And ... I often think ... would Richard really want to travel with anyone who was so nasty and mean on the Blogs? Just my thinking - but I'd say 'No'. : ) Anyway ... I appreciated your comments. And Paula, yours too! As I've said before ... 'Life is too short'!

Speaking of life being too short ... I just went to my Oncologist the week before we went to Chicago - and got a clean bill of health ... and don't have to go back for 8 months! I've been going every 6 months ... and I can't tell you how that extension of two more months makes me feel! So, so cool! And ... four months until my five year mark! Sigh! : )

Hellllooooo Richard! Hope you and Umberto are having Fun!! : )

We'll Everyone ... I'm waiting patiently ... for all of you! : )

Peace,

Brenda

Hi everyone! just checking in after work. Stayed until 5 so I'm all ready for the next 2 weeks. Kids can be so rotten! Today I had to deal with a boy who thought it was funny to add a "ck" sound in Music when singing Do, Ra, Mi, Fa ("ck") So, La, Ti, Do. Oh boy! was the music teacher MAD! The kid had to write a letter to his parents telling them what he'd said, why it was wrong, and how he was going to improve his behaviour. Then, he had to write a letter of apology to the music teacher and THEN had an interview with...da dada da...THE PRINCIPAL. Also, the parents were phoned and had to come in to see me. Have to nip it in the bud! These are the "not so nice" moments of teaching.

Aneeeway...LOVE THE DOG. I also have a blonde one...check him out on my blog. He looks sort of like Fabio (remember him?) or the dog/dragon in the movie The Neverending Story.

Metalxmonkey just called from work and said she's treating me for dinner...again! What a doll! Might check in again later. Caio!

Hi Joe
Thanks for letting us know the name of your sisters dog "Soleil". She does look a lot like my grandpuppy "Madison". She will be 2 in December. I just posted a picture of her on my blog and also my grandkitty "Jasmine" in Denver...among some other new pics...I now have 2 pages of pictures.

I love animals but am happy to share others pets...I can take them out for walks, love them and feed them goodies anytime I want.
I don't feel that I have the time for a full time pet right now.

I talk to Madison on the phone often and she gets all excited and starts looking for me...

Merry Mary
I used to have a yellow lab/collie mix with a pink nose. I'll post a picture of her in a few minutes. She was 17 years old and we had to put her to sleep because of her failing health. It was the hardest thing I have ever done. I was afraid that one day I would come home and find her gone and I didn't want her to die alone. I wanted to be with her. My vet was wonderful and so caring...
The day we arranged to have this done, I took off from work and my son took the day off from school...(this was about 3 years ago)we spent the whole day with "Samantha at the park and bought her some plain hamburgers at McDonald's and a cup of water with no ice (her favorite treat). We brushed her and loved her all day long. At the end of the day we took her to our vet and she explained the whole process and let us spend as long as we needed with her. I cried for days as I was so attached to her. A very good friend sent me "Rainbow Bridge" and I share it now with friends who have lost pets. It's a beautiful poem.

I will check back later tonight...

Very creative as usual...I also like dogs...I'm allergic to some cats but not all. My neighbors have a minx? (a cat with no tail) and it just loves me...it comes over and lays by my feet and rolls over like a puppy...so cute and I've found that I'm not allergic to this one...

Gotta go now, later everyone...

I am waiting for my daughter to pick me up so....I thought I would look up "Rainbow Bridge" and share it with all of you...thanks Merry Mary for suggesting it...

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I remember looking in several stores before finding a card to send to my son when he had to put his dog to sleep.

And thank YOU, MerryMary, for your kind words yesterday!

RICHARD, JOE and LADIES: THIS IS AN URGENT MESSAGE TO ANYONE WHO MAY HAVE GIVEN 'GEEZER' YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION..IN MY OPINION, THIS MAN IS DANGEROUS...

After receiving an E-mail from one of our orignial NNBBSH ladies I did some research on this 'geezer'....I am posting both of his sites, and I encourage ANYONE who has dealt with him or given ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION TO HIM to look on these sites...THIS MAN NOT ONLY 'HATES WOMEN', but in my opinion HE COULD BE DANGEROUS!
Here are the two sites:
http://malibujon.blogspot.com/...
In this his second site, Geezer responds to someone named Kelly, when he says:
Malibu Jon said...
Kelly, Kelly, Kelly..

The travel and bauble story seems like ages ago. Met my match and I am traveling with her. I bought tons of baubles because I can (I can't take it with me) and she was testing to see if I would. What a pair we are. We sold several of those baubles and helped a couple of 9th ward families in New Orleans.

As for my age, lets just say I am old and there are days when I feel that way. I am older than 50, younger than 64 and I in no way want to strig you ladies along. I just thought it would be - wait was the word joeinmb likes - fun - to start a blog where we could discuss real geezer issues and who knows, maybe we'll get some intelligent men here too. I can go away too. This isn''t my entire life, but it is a "fun" way to connect with other peopl.

The email I'll give is:

old_rich_geezer@yahoo.com

I answer sometimes, but I am thinking about changing it. You wouldn't believe the weird email I get.

4:59 PM

The above comment is a DIRECT REFERENCE TO COMMENTS HE MADE EARLIER ON THE SB SITE PRIOR TO MB...

This is HIS OTHER SITE:
http://thespinmeister.blogspot.com/
AND ALSO, http://www.blogger.com/profile/7082494

JOE, PLEASE DO NOT DELETE THE ABOVE POSTING TO KELLY as 'geezer' can delete this....

In my opinion this man is DANGEROUS!

Richard and Joe: How are you going to protect the ladies from
this kind of thing....

here is something that i cut out of the newspaper quite a few years ago! - i think y'all will like it...

OUR BEST FRIEND

It's never too late to teach an old human new tricks. Fiorenze Albert-Howard of West Vancouver sent along this little something he saw on the Internet, called "Things We Can Learn From a Dog."

* Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
* Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstacy.
* When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
* When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.
* Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
* Take naps and stretch before rising.
* Run, romp and play daily.
* Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.
* Be loyal.
* Never pretend to be something you're not.
* If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

my two favorites -
***
* When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle him or her gently.

* Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
***

* On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
* Bond with your pack.
* Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

and there you have it!

Willemina--thanks for the rainbow bridge story--it is wonderful. Having had so many dogs, it is always so painful when one leaves you. I have always loved this quote, and it makes me tearful when I think of all my wonderful departed dogs. But I guess I always think of them playing with other friends who are no longer with us. I remember I lost a puppy about the same time as the horror in Oklahoma City where so many children were killed, and I assumed my puppy left to join the little children who needed puppies. Silly I know, but warm fuzzies for me. Here's the quote:

"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of his devotion."

I had them put "Pray for World Peace" up above it, so that every time I sign a check, it is an affirmation, towards the thought of world peace.

Good Luck tomorrow for everyone!

CJ- I think a way long time ago I cautioned the Ladies about this guy. What "red flags" went up for all of you? No photos. No direct name of anyone he contacted and supposedly met. Anyone ever get a phone number? His rudeness towards Richard and his comments about women.

You have to take responsibility to protect yourself on the internet. Each of you should have at least one "alias" email account that you use when setting up a blog account, for example. Use that for all public areas. You can usually set it up to automatically forward to your actual primary email account so you don't have to check two or more places. NEVER give out your personal information especially last names, addresses and phone numbers. My son plays an online game called Runescape. I noticed there was a chat bar and he was "chatting" with someone on it. We talked about him not giving out any personal information. So if you ever hear of Edwina from Iowa City that's my boy...

So far with everything that has gone on the blog here, the only one who has shown his face online and in flesh has been Richard. And you met him with over 100 "sisters" who had your back! That's pretty safe. Just make sure you take the same kind of precautions with anyone else you "meet" online.

Now look how "CoopMan" came aboard. Personally endorsed by a fellow Senior Bachelorette or two. That's a pretty good system. Hey, Suzanne, how about doing a little investigating on the geez?! Actually, Ladies, just let him be. He will get bored and go away.

Good early morning Ladies,

I cleared out the "re-postings" CJ put up because, well, I gave my advice on how to treat this situation- ignore them. CJ, your heart, as always, is in the right place but I've always deleted that garbage from this blog. I left the postings that offer solid advice on how to protect oneself online including the protection provided by your internet service providers and online email providers. They don't want bad stuff happening with their services either and they will help you. It may be difficult to get through to them to get the help but it is there. I would ask for help on this blog- there are many savvy and experienced women here. I'll share some more advice. This is an appropriate topic.

I know a little something about "predators" with work I continue to do in town with protecting our children from such deviants. Universally, these predators prey on the weakest people. If you offer resistance of any kind, they give up and scamper away on their way to find an easier victim to exploit. It is because, fundamentally, they are cowards.

I actually have a folder in which I keep info on safety issues and I have some good info now on online safety (remember I mentioned my own children are online. It scares me what some other parents allow their children to do with their computers. You want a shocker, look over the shoulder of a teenager these days when they are instant messaging. My strong suggestion- develop backbones as parents and get rid of it despite the protests of "but everyone is doing it.")

Here is some good advice attributed to PerfectMatch:

Tips for older online daters

Have a healthy skepticism: Don't automatically assume people you meet online are honest. Use your common sense and critical-analysis skills.

Guard your privacy: In your personal profile, reveal only what's appropriate, never giving out your real name, address or phone number. Use a moniker and a special e-mail address you use just for dating.

Talk first by phone: Before meeting face to face, get an over-the-phone feel for a person's social and communication skills.

Meet in public: If you decide to meet, always do so at a public place. Tell someone else where you're going and when you'll be back. Keep the first date short, meeting for coffee or lunch.

Don't rush it: If the relationship progresses, take it as slow as you like.

Dear Karen, I bawl everytime I go there (Rainbow Bridge)....This is my poem for Peaches....
I wasn't in the market for another dog.
Missy, our dog of 16 years we had just lost.
I was shopping at Southroads Mall
When this white ball of fur I saw.

I went to the ARF booth and picked her up.
I had never seen a prettier pup.
It was love at first sight.
I knew she was right.
Peaches was already her name.
We left it the same.
Bill would come home of an evening and say...
What did Peaches chew up today?
I was glad when she grew out of that stage.
When she ruined the creepy crawler her dad was in a rage.
She thought it was fun.
When Bill would try to catch her she'd run.
She always had a lick and a smile.
Being happy was her style.
She had been with me the past 12 years.
Thinking about her my eyes fill with tears.
I loved Bill and Peaches from the start.
They will always remain in my heart.
Peaches has gone to be with her Daddy Bill...
I will join them when it is God's will.

Bill and I were married 23 years and I lost him to cancer in 1999. He is really irreplaceable. Have a good sat. down in Texas. MM

Good morning Ladies,

Before we open a new blog I would like to thank "Lady Base Camp" for those wonderful sentiments. She is so very right about "get your passports ready". It reminded me of why most of us probably came here in the first place-- the travel! Richard and his companions are going to be going to fantastic places and we are all going to go along. You got a good sample of his travel writing with the Asia stories in the Newsletters. I, for one, have not been to many places on the itinerary and now I am going to learn so much about those places through the eyes and ears of three people who I now know. We are all going to learn so much more about those places than reading travel books.

While the Search has turned into fun for me (at so many times it seemed like a second job, believe me!) it is the Journey that I am looking forward to!
