YOU ALL ARE FANTASTIC!!!!
I knew 5 months ago, when all of the tapes and biographies were coming in, that I was working with an extraordinary group of women. And the responses I have received from the difficult letter that went out yesterday, put an exclamation point to these feelings. What a show of great manners, class and taste. An A+ in deportment!!!! Joe, Umberto and I, remain hard at work on the the website, and the Newsletter announcing the Finalists. I hope to have the Newsletter out by Tuesday-at least that is our goal-there is still much to be done. Joe has put together a wonderful way for you to get to know the Finalists. Well, back to work.
I played volleyball this morning with 2 of my sons, Chris (the "Me" in Pop&Me) and Gabby. I love all my boys and 7 grandchildren, that's for sure. They treat "POP-POP" very well, indeed. Ciao for now, RR

We all LOVE 2 TRAVEL...that's why we're here right?!
I have just been pointed to what looks like a great travel insurance company for those traveling abroad, and thought that it would be helpful to those who want coverage in case of illness or any other emergency. Since most of you are on this site and it's about travel....I thought I would pass it on. Might be good to have when you get to some of those countries without the best medical facilities. It's called Medex and the website is:

THE MOON IS IN FULL SWING!!
May everyone have the opportunity to enjoy it :)
I'm headed to Louisianna tonight and driving to the airport was watching the rise of the moon, this is my favorite time of the month. Flying is stupendous when the moon lights the world down below :)
Best Wishes to All! Michelle
Wow Val...I am more and more impressed by your poetry. Are you saving these???? You should publish a book. They have a lot of deep thought in them. I love them. You are very talented. I went to Wal Mart and looked for Mary Chaffin Carpenter and couldn't find anything by her. Down At The Twist and Shout was probably in the 80's but I'm going to look at a bigger music store then when we all meet in New Orleans I'll bring it and play it at out pajama party and Wanda and I will dance so she can get rid of the broomstick...Well ,maybe we can fin Errand Nevel and a few of his friends to dosy-doe with us. Still no word from Paula??????? And also...Linda from Az. Is she still out of pocket????? That may be 2 of the 24??????????????? If so we've blogged with those 2. I'm just curious?????? MM
Hey Richard, Well you got me a date. I had told someone about my trip to Chicago and he said he had a brother going thru a very painful divorse and I said maybe he'd be interested in Richard's blog and he said right now he probably wouldn't be but he gave him my number and he just called and invited me to lunch Wed. so I get first dibs but if we don't seem each other's type then I'll see about the blog. Ok?????
Jane...I used to have a small antique shop and used to hunt arrow heads and old bottles. It was sooo fun....That was with husband #2. Let me know when your book gets published and I'll buy one. Speaking of Oprah...Tue' the show I went to will be aired....about living a lie....sad. I am on an end seat the second row on second level in bright pink. MM
MERRY MARY, I am going to try and see you on the Oprah show. Is it this Tuesday? I just wrote a long memo re: a Czech bottle I found and some other stuff and hit the wrong thing. Poof, it's gone and so am I!! I'm going to limit my time on the blog. It's 8:20 pm here and I want to see who's on Larry King.
Have a Nice Evening. Jayne
Awesome Richard!! Part of the journey has ended and another begins!!
Got my letter!! Now, 24 finalists.....hummmmm.....
lets see....
Seems mighty..hard to choose one, two....looks like a month with each of 12 might work!!! Ha
Then, after the travels, will you be in a pickle then!!! Gotta choose only one!!!
Wish all us ladies out here in blog land had that problem...wouldn't it be a hoot, ladies to have loads of men wanting just the one of us!!
what a problem to have!!!
hope all is well!!!
Can't wait to see the list!!!
hugs, Linda

Hello there, Merry mary-
I wanted to tell you that the correct name of the person whose CD you are trying to find is Mary Chapin Carpenter. She is what is now considered 'old school' country singer. I would probably remember the song if I heard it again! Your karaoke friend,
Karen JW
Saw In her shoes, WONDERFUL
Elizabethtown, Cute
CB- we're off to play in other fields. The pitcher has picked his team. I think mostly we will play on other blogs now.
Merry Mary
Here is your song:
Artist/Band: Carpenter Mary Chapin
Lyrics for Song: Down At The Twist And Shout
Lyrics for Album: Shooting Straight in the Dark
Saturday night and the moon is out
I wanna head on over to the Twist and Shout
Find a two-step partner and a Cajun beat
When it lifts me up I'm gonna find my feet
Out in the middle of a big dance floor
When I hear that fiddle wanna beg for more
Gonna dance to a band from a-Lou'sian' tonight
Well I never have wandered down to New Orleans
Never have drifted down a bayou stream
But I heard that music on the radio
And I swore some day I was gonna go
Down Highway 10 past Lafayette
To Baton Rouge and I won't forget
To send you a card with my regrets
'Cause I'm never gonna come back home
Saturday night and the moon is out
I wanna head on over to the Twist and Shout
Find a two-step partner and a Cajun beat
When it lifts me up I'm gonna find my feet
Out in the middle of a big dance floor
When I hear that fiddle wanna beg for more
Gonna dance to a band from a-Lou'sian' tonight
They got a alligator stew and a crawfish pie
A golf storm blowin' into town tonight
Livin on the delta's quite a show
They got hurricane parties every time it blows
And here up north it's a cold cold rain
And there ain't no cure for my blues today
Except when the paper says: Beausoleil is coming into town
Baby let's go down
Saturday night and the moon is out
I wanna head on over to the Twist and Shout
Find a two-step partner and a Cajun beat
When it lifts me up I'm gonna find my feet
Out in the middle of a big dance floor
When I hear that fiddle wanna beg for more
Gonna dance to a band from a-Lou'sian' tonight
Bring your mama, bring your papa, bring your sister too
They got lots of music and lots of room
When they play you a waltz from 1910
You gonna feel a little bit young again
Well you learned to dance with your rock'n'roll
You learned to swing with a do-si-do
But you learn to love at the fais-so-do
When you hear a little Jolie Blon
Saturday night and the moon is out
I wanna head on over to the Twist and Shout
Find a two-step partner and a Cajun beat
When it lifts me up I'm gonna find my feet
Out in the middle of a big dance floor
When I hear that fiddle wanna beg for more
Gonna dance to a band from a-Lou'sian' tonight
You can order it at Amazon.com
Sweetpme,
Hey girlfriend....never forget those outfielders..............they play a very important/significant role!! Right??
Actually I know squat about baseball, but it did sound good, n'est pas??
Whatever....just wanna LIVE have fun and liven things up a notch!
La belle xox
CB, I think 'ball in in your court' is a Tennis term, lets stick to baseball hee hee, we still need a team though, two people can't play alone. Who's game??????
I haven't seen any movies lately but I would sure like to talk jewelry with you. Do you get the stones on your travels or do you go to gem shows?
Just finished watching a wonderful Irish film, 'The Run of the Country', with Albert Finney. Romantic but tragic film which of course will grab your heart! Get out your handkerchiefs! The brogue is a bit thick at times but worth it. It is set on the border between North and South Ireland and of course the scenery is breathtaking.
Hugs!
Hi Callmelin!!!
As afr as I know we can play ball with a minimum of 2 players!! Yah...it is all good.
Actually if you check out my Blog (Queen of Choices) you will get a brief history of my bead purchasing via my travels last year to Thailand. Also if you go to my archives you get an overview of the rest of my trip. I spent a total of 2 months in Australia and 5 weeks in Thailand. I refer to this trip as my Odyssey as it was a solo venture that I shall never forget!!
I took silver smithing classes for 2 years and do alot of my own silver pendants, beads etc but when I was I Thailand I bought some fabulous pieces from the Hill Tribe peoples who live in the mountains north of Chiang Mai. It was a once ina life time trip that changed my life forever, I knwo am afflicted with a very severe case of wanderlust!!
How bout you....do you travel much?

Love 2 Travel, you have me wanting to go to Joyland here in Bradenton FL and do some boot scootin boogie! Havn't done that in a long time, just may be ready now! :~)
CB: I played on the ladies league for over 10 years and ya know, Although the team has been picked, you always need backers! :~)) Or pinch hitters sound better here! Never throw in the towel! I played 3rd base and pitched. Our team was called the Hustlers! We came in first place one year against the Playgirls who were the best! At our awards banquet my team had picked me to do a little skit. It was to the strip tease song. I was dressed in my uniform and I had a bathing suit underneath and on the back of the bottoms in glitter it said Boo Playgirls! I had to strut around the room throwing all my articles of clothes in every direction! Then shake my tail feathers from behind! Everyone was in tears! It has been so long ago! I still have the articles and the glittered suit! Great Memories as these will be as well!
Well I am Back...

CB, I read your site months ago but I will go back and read it again. I have not traveled as much as you but hope to in the future. My father and I always loved to pick up stones of all kinds when I was a kid. I used to get into trouble when mom washed my clothes and you could hear the rocks banging around in the dryer. I still pick up at least one rock everytime I go to the beach. I have a collection of carved stone hearts.
Lady Base Camp, thanks for joining us, I haven't had the opportunity to talk with you but that is about to change. I worked in the EMS system for the last 21 years. I know what you go thru and I applaud you, it is sometimes very tough work.
Yes, the moon is beautiful tonight.
WISPERER: Apparently you must not have a life or you wouldn't be here reading all our conversations! Hummm Interesting!

Simple abundance, could you be the team captain? The White Sox just won is about the only thing I know about what is going on in the world of baseball.
Lady Base Camp: Yes the moon is awesome tonight. I went down to the beach this evening to watch the beautiful sunset, walk and shake off my letter as well! :~( One direction was a huge orange ball slowly dissapearinging on the horizon over the Gulf and behind me was the beautiful Bright Full moon. A couple had gotten married on the beach and they were all together getting pictures with the moon behind them. What a great photo! I am a camera nut myself. Also every Sunday night they have many many drummers come out and form a huge circle and play and light a fire in the middle. People dancing all over! There must have been 200 people gathered there. It was so beautiful tonight, although it was dark the moon glistened on the water, lighting the darkness! I love this place!
CallmeLin,
Absolutely, I love taking the lead :~) This used to be where The White Socks HOme field was! Then it was the Red Socks! I loved going and watching during spring training. Man love those guys in tight uniforms! Almost got myself in trouble with "Steve Lyons" they called him "psycho" man what a looker. Married of course! Went to watch him 2 weeks straight! He actually has since been in the movies. If you watch For the Love of the Game with Kevin Costner he is actually one of the game announcers! Obviously, I bought the movie! :~))
SO WE ARE ROLLING NOW.........Lets keep up the good vibe.
Red TBIRD, can't wait for you to get that darn computer fixed...three words at a time....geeez it must be so frustrating.
Well ladies for some reason I didn't sleep well last night (wonder why) and I am beat, going to take one more look at the moon and then close my eyes and sleep like a baby.
If you are from Boston...
Hey batta batta, hey batta batta

Okay ... so I want to be part of the team too!
Speaking of teams ... 'my team' - the Tampa Bay Bucs beat Miami Dolphins today! They are 3-0 now! We've had a couple of disappointing years - after our huge SuperBowl victory ... so I am glad to see them doing well again. Though - I hate seeing the Dolphins lose - being a Miami Girl and all. : )
Well ... I'm off for the night. Thanks for the little uplift tonight! I needed it. : )
Peace,
Brenda

OK, THAT IS ENOUGH-TIME TO PLAN NEXT YEARS PARTY.
If you check out clickgirls blog you will read my suggestion. It will take us a year to plan and save for this.
So everyone up and let's get this ball rolling.
Hi, Everyone,
Yes, I know, I HAVE been noticeably absent from the blog this weekend…but I promise it wasn’t on purpose. I have been with my students at Cal State Long Beach at a Speech and Debate Tournament (at which my team won many individual trophies, AND captured the 3rd place overall Sweepstakes Award).
All weekend my heart was with you, but I had no access to a computer. Tonight after the Awards ceremony, I raced back to my office to get “caught up” with all of you. I couldn’t wait to get back to my FRIENDS on the blog. I really feel compelled to let you all “in” on how this “adventure” played out for me last week. I had also received many Emails asking me if I was one of Richard’s “chosen” 24.
And before I received the call from Richard, I, too, had been anxiously waiting to see how all this would play out. If I had never gotten his call, I would have very much appreciated hearing from one of you what it was like and how it all “came down”. At first, I was asked to keep the fact that we were talking a secret, and I agreed. During our last conversation on Friday, I advised him that I would be going on the blog to talk to my friends. He did not encourage or discourage me from doing so, so now I am ready to tell you the exciting end of MY portion of the adventure:
Last Tuesday evening, Richard called me. After personal conversations during the week, I had subconsciously, maybe even more consciously than I would care to admit, made the decision to go ahead and go on the 4 day retreat, knowing that I would not be going with Richard on the month-long trip…I knew in my heart of hearts that our personalities were not a “match”. I really respect Richard, and can see him as one of my close personal friends, but could not visualize us as soul mates. I am not proud of the fact that I was thinking this way. The reason I am sharing it with you, is to let you know that I believe it is a “normal” thought, but I was ignoring what I, me, myself, REALLY wanted, in deference to the excitement of the adventure before me!
After a few days of contemplation, I woke up to what I was really doing, and knew I needed to make a decision…a decision that would be right for ALL the parties involved and me, not JUST me! It wouldn’t be right to go on his 4 day retreat knowing that I would be denying a more worthy lady the opportunity. So, I called Richard to ask him a few more questions to help validate my decision. He was wonderfully honest (he called it “brutally honest”, but I disagree) and I think he had doubts about me, too. So, I took the heat off of him and told him I was going to have to drop out of the running. He was lovely about it and we bid a fond farewell, with a promise to remain friends…a friendship I will treasure.
I made this decision all by myself (very difficult for me to do), under the cloak of secrecy. But as soon as I got off the phone with Richard on Friday morning, I called my good friend danapointlois to get her endorsement in arrears of what I had done...frankly it was a call for help: “Help, save, me from myself!!”.....and she did! Thank God for a good friend who can see more about you than you can see of yourself. To the 24: “BEST WISHES” and to the final 6: “BON VOYAGE”. Lois and I will be enjoying your journey vicariously from the sidelines. I still believe it is a wonderful adventure that Richard has embarked upon and send him off with “God Speed”.
lots of love to you all, sharon
Hi Ladies...
Making a new true friend is one of lifes greatest rewards.....From the first time we met on the SB blog, chatted online and the phone and to that late thurs. arrival of hers at MB, "coach" Sharon and I have bonded a fantastic new friendship....Girlfriends Rule....
It was Sept.1st..my birhtday..
I thought it might be a 'lucky" day for me and perhaps fate would have it that I may meet my soulmate in RR...well that didn't happen, but there is no love lost here....sur I am dissapointed, but also very fortunate to have a new best friend...Enough about me...
I am blogging tonight in support of Sharon....You have read her story and I want to tell you all how much i admire her honesty, integrety and loyalty for sharing her reasons for such a serious decition she has made....Yes, it started as some might say a contest, and we all would like to be winners, but in the end we must follow our hearts as to what we believe is best for ourselves and our patner to be happy...Sharon has put a lot of thought into her decition and as her friend I believe she has made the right choice...after living this wonderful adventure....RR is not her future....
We have all had a lot of fun here on this blog and following "the adventure"...I am looking forward to watching it til the end with hops that all still involved with Richard will have a fantastic journey and perhaps within their travels "connect" and find true love....I wish you all the best....Sincerely...LOIS
Coach Sharon, Thank you for your honesty and I wish you the very best. There are many who didn't receive a letter and they are still in hopes of getting a letter saying they are one of the 24. I got two letter, one on top of the other and so did Lynn. Maybe, since Coach Sharon got a call, we got someones email....Time will tell.
Honestgal..One of my friends said my story is in White Oleander, I have not seen it. Sometimes, things are too painful to watch. I will do my story to help others and appreciate the fact that I need to register the name...
Love to travel - I send you was sooo nice.... thank you.
Mary, mary, I don't think there is a strawberry patch in Houston....Hope to see you on Oprah...
Janiegirl, Cjinsocial, thank you for your thoughts....
LaBelle, I agree women should shed not tears, only joy for what we have achieved...
I loved March of the Penguins...They touch noses when in love and travel 70 miles by foot in blizzard conditions to find their mate...The men carry the eggs on their feet while the woman go 70 miles back and find food and then return to find their mate and baby....I remember having my first baby at 19 with noone allowed to be with me. It was so terrifying. When I talk of my life, I am always reminded of the fact that you can complain because you have no shoes until you see someone with no feet....I love my life and I thank God everyday for my blessings....Karen
Good Morning ladies
I know that I have also been absent from the blog and I want to apologize to all of you because some may think this is a sign that I was chosen...It's not and I havn't...I too got my letter.
It's been a busy weekend for me and I will talk more about that later but for now I want to give all of you a great big hug and tell you that I think this has been an amazing adventure for all of us. We certainly have learned a lot havn't we? And I think we have learned a lot more about ourselves in theis process.
I read Sharon's letter and have to say that she is a first class lady! I met her in MB and right away thought to myself, I think she will be one of the ladies chosen...well, she was!
I admire her for her honesty in telling Richard that she didn't think they were a match and she didn't want to waste his time or hers...
I have to leave for work right now but I'll check in again tonight...
To all of my sisters here, hugs and blessings...let's all have a great day!
Good morning RR,Joe, Umbreto and beautiful Chickadees....I want ton be on LaBell's team too. I might just be a cheerleader. Our old brokers in real estate did a fund raiser for RPAC (lobbiest for real estate) and these older men played a team of women that you have to be 70 and over to be on their team. It was basketball and what a hoot. Anyway, I was a cheerleader and we had a ball. Thank You Love 2 Travel....That's the song.Doesn't it just make you feel good???? I wish we could meet next year in New Orleans when Clear Water Channels does their Carnival Cruise out of New Orleans and dedicates it to the 1960's. They always get a group from Tulsa through KOOL radio. I'll check on it and see if they are going to do it. It would be a year away. Seems like they do it in Nov. LaBell are you into pewter too? I went to a great shop in San Diego called Pewter by Rickner and bought some great nautical poieces and some angel pieces. Seems he does works for the white house for Christmas ornaments. Wow, Sharon, you really are considerate. I'm sure RR appreciates your honesty because in my group mtg. he kept saying how important it is to be honest and have integrity. Wanda, I had noticed that picture of you is not your pretty self too. It's fuzzy or something. You are a beautiful girl. I'm glad you checked in Willimena...I missed you. Everyone I hope you have a happy Monday. Go team go. MM
COACH Your an amazing women :)
Aloha Ladies:
Sharon ..Thank you for sharing your story with all of us. You have to be true to yourself. That takes courage. I am so proud to have met so many wonderful ladies..who have been very supported.. and we all sisters.. I too got the letter..and hope to one day find that special person..but..for now I have found many new great friends.
To the Lucky lady that Richard will choose..I am sure he will find his soulmate..I wish him only the best..

CHICK_GIRL Great Blog. Loved the picture of the Bloggettes w/Umberto could you send a copy to my blog?
Nancy
CORRECTION CLICK_GIRL but Chick girl sounds ok to.
Good Morning Ladies,
At this time all the Search finalists have been notified by Richard by phone and email and he and all the finalists have been communicating back and forth on the logistics of the upcoming meetings.
If you have not received an email from Richard we have to sincerely apologize. We made every effort to keep track of email address changes and to update our list with all the names from the Ladies who have submitted materials for the Search. As you may have read on the blog, several of Richard's emails were routed to filtered boxes and the like. We, of course, have no control over that, and, again, we apologize if you have not received Richard's email in a timely manner.
I’d like to repost a comment I made towards the bottom of the “California Blonde” blog in response to one of Lady Base Camp's writings (at 10:47AM) about moving forward:
Lady Base Camp wrote:
“Get your passports girls because you don’t have to go through a tunnel at all. You can ride in your own balloon, buoyant and magnificently floating, a celestial toast to the twelve and the one. . . for they have made you brave.”
I responded:
Before we open a new blog I would like to thank "Lady Base Camp" for those wonderful sentiments. She is so very right about "get your passports ready". It reminded me of why most of us probably came here in the first place-- the travel! Richard and his companions are going to be going to fantastic places and we are all going to go along. You got a good sample of his travel writing with the Asia stories in the Newsletters. I, for one, have not been to many places on the itinerary and now I am going to learn so much about those places through the eyes and ears of three people who I now know. We are all going to learn so much more about those places than reading travel books.
While the Search has turned into fun for me (at so many times it seemed like a second job, believe me!) it is the Journey that I am looking forward to!

Hi to all!!!!!
I have missed our little conversations here, but I talk this stuff, night and day!!!
I know my friends, here at home, think I am a little obssesive about this thing, but it is like a light bulb was turned on inside me about this and the possibilities, and for all you ladies that are getting disappointed, the light was not so much about Richard as it was about all of us that have connected on this site.
I really have not gotten to know Richard well enough to have any hopes or dreams about him, but I am very, very excited about the connection of all these brilliant, articulate, lovingly supportive people who have met through what he has done here. I just see Richard as being a catalyst for this happening.
I think we either read his mind about what he wanted to do with this thing, or we have all been a very critical part of this evolving thing!!!And personally I feel that it is the latter.
Look up!!!!!
There is a full moon!!!!
And I was lying outside last night on the boat dock, all bundled up in a big jacket and just staring at that Beautifull (another Freudian typo) Beautifull full mOOn and so thankful to be connected out there with all of you and Love!!!!!Love in my heart for all of us!!!!!You guys make me love myself more, and God knows we need to do that!!!Tears, tears of Joy, Tears of Joy and Love!!!!!
Hi ClickGirl, Brenda. Do you know if Selena's is still in existance at Hyde Park in Tampa, and do you know if they still cater to the Tampa Bay Buck's boxes at the Buck's football stadium? I lived in Tampa for three years and I was just wondering. Thanks, Jayne

Good stuff to know 'cuz there are wild strains of polio floating about in Africa now.
Hugs to all.
Hi Honest Gal,
I did go take a normal flu shot 'cause I didn't last year but the bird flu sounds horrible. My family's glad I wasn't a choosen one due to going out of the country and getting exposed to odd things. I still want to try to go to Rome, Italy. Celia and I are dreaming of maybe taking a trip there. I sent to have my passport updated as it just expired. I just went into Brenda's (Click Girls) blog and read her commentary on Chicago. It's great. I think I'll run it off. MM
Dear Coach - Sharon
You are truly and sincerely an inspiration. I wonder just how many of us would have had the integrity you had in thinking yourself through the really important ramifications of accepting, even the first part, of this Journey? You are truly an inspirational woman and I feel it would be any man's loss not to have you in his life. I am confident that Richard will esteem your offer of continued friendship, and I am proud to be one of the ladies to have exchanged correspondence and have met you in Manhattan Beach. And I would consider it a great privilege if we can continue corresponding.
To Richard, I thank you for being so "nice" on the blog to all of us women who have invested so much time and emotions in your Journey. I do hope you will reap all of the happiness and success you deserve. And as Joe has pointed out, how would we have made all these new friendships if it were not for this endeavor? I believe we are all greatly in your debt!
Good luck and great travels to all!
and
Hugs!
to all my new-found friends!!

I would like to speak up for one of the most long-suffering women in this venture and that is Joe's wife, Nancy (and no I do not know her personally or have contact with her).
Joe, pay attention here. Go back to your honey-do's and even your honey-didn't ask-me-to do, but -it-would-be-so nice-if-I-did-do's.
Your kids and wife need you more than we do and Richard, as charming and fun as he is, should not IMO be your priority.
Please take this advice from one who knows how it feels to be long-suffering.
We are fine. Take that blogging time you spend and put it where it counts more than you will ever know.... on time that you never get back. We have had the priviliage of your care and attention and now you should get back to your #1 loved ones.
Please forgive me if I have been presumptuous or out of line, but as you know, we women look out for each other and I could just see that lovely Mrs. Franklin tapping her toe.
Good Morning, Chickadees...
If you are able to see Oprah today, please do... She featured some "great women" and it reminded me of all of YOU...US... :)
It also reminded me of something I read in an old favorite, recently, which I hope you won't mind me sharing here...
"While it is true that Oprah has tremendous power & influence, I realize now that every woman can be an Oprah to someone. Imagine what the world would be like if every woman showed support to at least one other woman, standing behind her in some way on the ladder of success [enlightenment] ... Oprah seems to have the desire to share with others what she has received, & I would imagine this consciousness is part of her huge success. What she demonstrates is the power of SISTERHOOD, where a woman helps another woman & others are helped in the process…"

Hello Richard, Joe, Umberto and Wonderful Ladies,
I also do not post often on the blog but do read it religiously. I so admire what Coach did and wanted to share my personal thoughts...
First - you ladies are truly all amazing and I am blessed to have
been and still be in your presence. There is a camaraderie here that I believe we all needed, in what we thought was a lone journey, and this we have Richard to thank for providing this forum or love and support.
I was not one of the chosen 24 but I can tell you that Richard has
been a gentlemen and a man of fairness and integrity, maybe almost to his own determent. Without a doubt those of us who received the letter were teary eyed and slumped for awhile, as was evident on the blog last night.
The realization is that we are all looking for a person who exemplifies the characteristics
that Richard has displayed...a fair gentlemen, fun, and a man who is willing to commit, how rare is that! We ladies are romantics and these offerings are magic to any woman's ears. Richard represents the personification attributes and qualities of the life-partner we
are searching for. He had the guts to do search in this way and as a side act as a catalyst to reawaken hope and motivattion in all of us. He is only one guy who has stepped forward in this way with whom we may or may not have chemistry.
I think realistically it was not just the trip but the possibility of finding our soul mate that was so enticing and magical about this whole journey. I say this for myself and all of us as well.
To Richard and everyone, I wish you all the best. So ladies do not be hurt or disappointed but see this as a sign in the road of where life will lead us.
Like Coach I hope and think that Richard and I will be life friends.
To the 24, have a great time, we're with ya all the way !!!!
Richard....thank you for enriching our lives.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news...but someone brought up passports...I've been told it takes several months to get a passport...so if any of the ones chosen don't have one, I think it should open up the way for some more ladies that thought about that far enough in advance! Just an idea!
Sharon(aka:COACH)
"HE WHO KNOWS OTHERS IS WISE,HE WHO KNOWS HIMSELF,IS ENLIGHTENED".
It took a great deal of soul seaching, and truely knowing yourself-to come to your decision..it shows a great deal of integrity, and an ethical base from which you make your decisions..
I thank you for sharing your decision.(I remember seeing the photo of Richard and you& was not surprised in reading that Richard had been in touch with you-but surprised in your decision..a very brave thing to do-"something lost something gained"-&I'm sure Richard will maintain a friendship, one can never have enough friends...
I recieved my "letter".
So pleased to "blog"with you :)
Take Care&Enjoy,Sybil
Hi Joe, You certainly do have a way with words. Like my recently rediscovered author Harry Golden, I want to quote another gentleman and his inspiring words. "And if you ever wonder, ladies, why we, those fortunate enough to have the resources to own a computer to read this and post here, are put on this great, green earth, you need not read further. It is to care for each other, to feel, to share, to love and to laugh. Your ability to inspire knows no bonds for me. Sweet dreams and good night". END OF QUOTE
I am so happy that you, Joe, and other great writers like Lady Base and so many others have gotten so many messages across, from being on Richard's blog. This has all been quite profound!! "All the Best", Jayne aka/Janie Girl and Lady Jayne
Hi Everyone......
Is that you, callmelin, we spoke on the phone yesterday??.
I haven't written because you talented writers are putting in to words, much better than I can ever could, (thank you for the writing lessons) my thoughts and yes "feelings". Better yet, you are keeping this event in perspective and have an amazing positive attitude and good wishes for all.
I must be on this planet to serve! A nurse since '88, nursing becomes a life style. Walked with a sea of people for the "Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation yesterday in Temecula. CAncer of any type has touched each & every one of us. Let's all give for research.
Stay healthy and LIVEstrong.
ps...I too, received my letter, and will continue to travel the path, where ever that road leads.
HUGS,
Erika
Hello All again,
Just in case you are wondering who I am...it's Angie from New Orleans. Clicked the send button too quickly!
One other thing I would like to say is the reason I can tell you first hand that Richard is a man of integrity is because, as he stated in a previous blog, we did some work together around Diversity and POP&ME. Let me assure you that Richard did not show favortism in any way. You may think that this work together would have enhanced my chances of being selected, however, to the contrary, I knew the opposite would be true. I realized going in the risk I was taking but also knew that that the messages of Diversity and POP&ME are far more important than just one person's quest, so it was a chance I had to take. Sometimes we have to lose to gain.
No regrets.....
P.S. The full moon last night was brilliant!

Re; Passports, Correct me if I'm wrong. A passport can be expedited if you personally apply and pay an extra fee, but it still takes time...
thanks WANDA, check your Blog, i left a post there for you,
cheers,

hi SKYWATCHER... i love that song: "i'll be looking at the Moon and seeing you" is it Nat King Cole who sings that?

Words of wisdom from me to all.
Know where you're going in life...
Mexican Village
A boat docked in a tiny Mexican village. An American tourist complimented the Mexican fisherman on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took him to catch them.
"Not very long," answered the Mexican.
"But then, why didn't you stay out longer and catch more?" asked the
American.
The Mexican explained that his small catch was sufficient to meet his needs and those of his family.
The American asked, "But what do you do with the rest of your time?"
I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, and take a siesta with my wife. In the evenings, I go into the village to see my friends, have a few drinks, play the guitar, and sing a few songs . I have a full life."
The American interrupted, "I have an MBA from Harvard and I can help you!
You should start by fishing longer every day. You can then sell the extra fish you catch. With the extra revenue, you can buy a bigger boat."
And after that?" asked the Mexican.
With the extra money the larger boat will bring, you can buy a second one and a third one and so on until you have an entire fleet of trawlers.
Instead of selling your fish to a middle man, you can then negotiate
directly with the processing plants and maybe even open your own plant. You
can then
leave this little village and move to Mexico City, Los Angeles, or even New
York City! From there you can direct your huge new enterprise."
"How long would that take?" asked the Mexican.
Twenty, perhaps twenty-five years," replied the American.
And ! after that?"
Afterwards? Well my Friend, That's when it gets really interesting,"
answered the American, laughing. "When your business gets really big, you
can start selling stocks and make millions!"
Millions? Really? And after that?" said the Mexican.
After that you'll be able to retire, live in a tiny village near the coast, sleep late, play with your children, catch a few fish, take a siesta
with
your wife and spend your evenings drinking and enjoying your friends."
And the moral is:
Know where you're going in life... you may already be there.
La Belle xox
Just FYI It only takes 10 days to get a pass port.
Coach When Joe came on the other day and talked about a beautiful blonde with big brown eyes and it turned out to be the lab doggie of his. You were were the beautiful blonde that I had thought was the chosen one, so I guess my radar wasn't off too badly.
Thank you for your honesty and your decision. As I've always said, there are some women that can go on and have fun with this. I know that I wasn't one of them. I'm very selfish about sharing the man in my life. LOL
Paul Are you one of the chosen are you sworn to secrecy?
Flowergirl Even though you are probably too young I bet you are one of the chosen.
Hugs Suzanne
That was very good LaBell...I loved it.
Skywatcher ,we used to singShine on ,Shine on Harvest moon....remember that one? Is Harvest moon a full moon???? What is a Blue Moon...I like that song too.
I wat6ched Oprah...It was good...some fantastic ladies on there I cried when the blind girl was telling about her kids she taught in Tibet. Tomorrow is the one that I watched the taping. Has anyone heard from Paula?? Have a good eve. I'm going to go fix a braums frozen spagetti dinner and make a salad. MM
Hi, desert flowers..you are so sweet to say that..but I am 50.
I wrote Richard a letter and thanked him for everything. I was so glad I went and met so many wonderful girls. However I did let him know that I have had a change of heart about continuing with the adventure due my mom having some serious unforseen health problems.
She had been dagnosed with lung cancer and given 6 mos to live and that has been over a year ago..she believed the lord had healed her. just recently I found out she is doing much worse..will you guys please keep her in your prayers?
I do hope to continue to maintain some of the fabulous friendships I have made.
I don't think I would have probably been Richard's pick or type anyway. I do wish him only the best and thank him for bringing us all together.
You are very beautful and young yourself so you may not be the chosen one. I have enjoyed geting to know you thru this site. I'll bet the guys won't leave you alone.
Did you say that you were still waiting I am a little behind just checked in a few minutes ago.

A question to my friends in Canada.
A lady in Canada said she tried to take the Free Personality Profile with Perfectmatch, but could not, due to her "zip code." I contacted Perfectmatch and they said they have a lot of members from Canda. Has anyone from Canada taken the Profile? Did it "go through" or were you not able to take it? You can reply on the blog or to my e-mail. Thanks for any input. Richard Roe
Hi Cheryl AKA CB....
I loved your last post and how true it is! I think I'm pretty close to being there!
I love my life right now. The only thing missing is a man...I guess it's not my time for that yet. God will send me someone when he thinks I'm ready...
I do love to travel and already have my next trip planned...a cruise to Acapulco, Ixtapa and Manzanillo in Dec. All 4 of my children will be going and also all 4 of my grandchildren, also a few friends and my mother. We planned this about 2 months ago so I guess I already knew I wouldn't be one of those 12 or now 24 ladies. I was going to talk to Richard about that IF I was chosen...but now I don't have to do that.
I am curious as to who these very special ladies are and wonder if any of my choices are among them? Guess we'll find out tomorrow? (Tuesday).
As I have said all along, Richard has been a true gentleman to all and I thank him for the camaraderie I've found on his blog with so many wonderful ladies.
Houstonkaren
I have read the book and saw the movie "White Oleander" I enjoyed the book more but isn't that always true?
Merry Mary
Thanks for missing me! I'm going to watch for you on Oprah tomorrow...I'm sure you'll stand out in your bright pink.
Angie AKA Italian mistletoe/popcorn222
You may not blog often but your words were greatly appreciated...Isn't it wonderful how we try to comfort one another? I'm sure some are taking it harder than others. Yvonne in honolulu quoted Helen Keller as I also did a few months ago on the blog:
"When one door of happiness closes another opens: but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us." (Helen Keller)
Lady Base Camp
I am looking forward to traveling vicariously with Richard and his ladies and hearing all about the wonderful places they will be visiting...I hope this blog remains open during this time and if not, where shall we meet?
Rachel
I will keep your mother in my thoughts and prayers. What is your mother's first name? God hears our prayers and prayer in numbers can work miracles...
I want to thank each and every one of you for your comforting remarks here. We know that we can count on each other for support and isn't that a wonderful feeling?
I'm not sad, I'm happy for having met some of you and talking with so many others on the blogs.
Hugs and blessings to all
I have a date again...
with my sister... :)
I'll check back later this evening.
I have a story on the subject of passports........my brother-in-law and his wife were on their way to Bali recently and when they arrived at the airport her passport was denied because it was DUE To expire March 2006. Seems that if you have less than six months left on your passport you cannot travel to another country. As it turned out they were blessed because of the delay they would have been in Jakarta the day of the bombing.
hey RR; I did not try the Free personality Profile on PerfectMatch; i'm "form phobic" and besides, i cannot fit into a form, i DEFY anything formfitting, hah ha hhah
cheers,
pj
Hi Everyone,
"chocolate47" OMG, that had Nancy and me rolling on the floor!! Have you been looking through our windows? I assure you, I have the dubious title of "Mr. Mom" in our 'hood and am the "go to" guy for extra sugar, flour or an emergency pick up of some child at school. I've coached just about every youth sports team of both my son and daughter since kindergarten. I've helped out at their schools ad infinitum. I think I have spent so much time with my kids they are happy now to go off on their own to middle school.
I decided over a dozen years ago to work exclusively at home for any company and it has worked out great. After my 20 foot, 15 second commute to my office, I put in a very productive day which allows me free time to take the kids to and from school and embarrass them mightily by working the lunch supervision. You want to see the look of sheer terror on a newly minted teenager's face--- go up to them like you are going to give them a hug in front of their friends at school! I live more the life of "Canadian Blogette"s Mexican fisherman as I have already found the life I want to live. Thank you for your concern, however.
"coach" you're my pick for California Blonde of the year!
Investigating streaming video on the website. We want you in on all the action now and on the Journey. Also, wouldn't fret about the passports. That will all be worked out in the logistics. Many main post offices are able to get them expedited in less than two weeks. Same thing for some visas, if required.
Wonderful comments all- have to go and get your surprise ready for tomorrow. All I will say is get your cups of coffee or tea and comfortable reading chairs ready!!
Hey Nancy - Thanks! I'll send the pic to your Email!
Hi Jayne. No Selena's has been gone for quite a few years - but was one of my favorite places! I went there every Friday night - and listened to The Fred Johnson Group and Belinda Womack (who now, ironically, is actually a friend of mine). I never really met any of the Bucs there (did you see that they beat Miami Dolphins on Sunday - 27-13 ... and I think are 3-1 now :) ... but I did meet a lot of the Rowdies there (The Soccer Rowdies - who 'are no more' - like Selena's)... and went to a lot of free games. They would leave tickets at 'Will Call' for us - and then we would all meet up at the Friday's on Hillsborough after the games. Friday's is still there!
I meant to comment to you the other day - when you mentioned about living in Tampa. I have been here 20 years now ... since it was first named 'America's Next Great City'. : ) When did you live here?
Thanks Merry Mary. Glad you enjoyed my commentary. We will just all have to take a lot more trips ... so I can do more of them! ; )
Hey Angie (Popcorn222)! Thanks for sharing that - and confirming what many of us thought about Richard. It is nice to hear that from someone who has had a personal experience with him.
Hi Coach ... you were one on my 'list' of people who I thought might be chosen. What an amazing woman you are, to make the decision that you made. You seem to be a very wise person. Hope that we have the chance to meet some day!
Hello Rachel (Flowergirl) - Like Suzanne, I was thinking you might be on 'The List' too. You are an amazing (really amazing!) 50! And it was so great meeting you in Chicago.
So sorry to hear the news about your mother ... and you will definitely be in my thoughts and prayers!
Hey Willy! Don't want to speak for Richard ... but I feel certain that this Blog will remain up ... but, if not, I will definitely keep mine up and running! I'm having too much fun with it (I think I'm up to five Blogs now)! Please feel free to join us over there! We will be 'rotating' Blogs periodically - to give everyone a chance to have people come to their site. It is quite fun to go to your Blog - and see messages from so many wonderful people. So ... hope you will join us!
Wow! What a ride! And ... it continues!
I 'feel' for everyone who has gotten 'Letters' ... but I am also feeling for those who have been chosen. I am looking with excitement and anticipation ... to knowing who these women are ... and to sharing in the continued journey with them ... and Richard! And, of course, Joe and Umberto!
Peace to All!
Brenda
Coach/Sharon: I only talked to you five minutes in MB, and I knew you embodied the qualities that would be desired by 'any' man! Or 'any' friendship with a man or woman!! It is Richard's great loss, but sometimes it is more of a gift to have 'friendship' than 'love'..........I applaud you for knowing what you don't want, as that is as important to know as what you do want, in my opinion.
For ALL OF THE LADIES: I want to make a DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD, but I also want to make a WORLD OF DIFFERENCE in the lives of those I care about....I care about ALL of you and I pray that ALL OF YOUR HOPES and DREAMS COME TRUE!! Continue to DREAM, and BRING BUBBLES!! Anyone seen Connie lately? lol....Where oh where is our Dancing Girl????
Peace and Hope,
CJ
Willimena thanks so much for your prayers you are always so sweet to support everyone.
Clickgirl, It was also great meeting you in Chicago. you are a very talented and sweet lady.
Thanks so much for your prayers for my mom.

Good Evening to All and this is to Coach.
Is it any wonder that you were one of "the chosen". Obviously, Richard could see your honesty and integrity, and we all could see your beauty. The first two are the best qualities any human can have.
Wishing you the best and a very happy future. You're my new hero!!!
Sincerely,
Deb Eddy
Night all.

RICHARD: I was one of the 'Canada' ladies that filled in The Free Personality Profile on PerfectMatch.com and yes it went through because I received a couple of emails informing me that they had gentleman interested in meeting me who had 'compatible profile information' I did not expect such a rapid response from PerfectMatch.com, it kinda knocked the wind out of my sails, to tell you the truth:) I made it quite clear that I filled in the Free Personality Profile enabling Richard Roe to view it if he so chooses;)
Here's to ROEMANCE AND ADVENTURE
Senior Bachelorette:)
val the gal
Click Girl, Brenda, I lived in the Tampa Bay area from 11/88
to 11/91. When I was there Selena's was owned by LuAnne and I can't remember her husbands name. Sometimes he would come in the lounge and play his sax. I knew David, the Director of Catering quite well. What a sweet guy he was. Did you know Peter, the manager of Selena's. My friend, Don, from Toronto lived in Palm Harbor when I met him. Then he bought a place at East Lake Woodlands. I loved the Tampa Bay area, but I can't recall if it ever did become the next great city. I love the water and have been planning to go back to that area. I could tell you some stories about the people I met in the Tampa Bay area and some of my experiences. WOW!! Do you remember Donald and Company, a stock brokerage firm? I think the whole area is just great. Jayne
Coach Sharon,
My hat is off to you. What you did made me realize how important it is for us to know ourselves, before we can know someone else.
I knew from meeting RR that he was not the type of man I would go for, but still found myself caught up in the excitement.
I got a letter, so I was not put in the position you were. I would only hope and pray I can be as stronge as you are someday.
I have learned a lesson here-thank you.
A standing ovation for you :)
Marty
Sharon,
One more thing-YOU ARE A REAL CLASS ACT and I hope I can keep this lesson you have taught me, whether you know it or not in my heart forever!
Marty
Coach Sharon,
Even though I didn't meet you in MB (I don't think), I agree with all the others in what you have done. It took strength of character and being able to look in the mirror from that day forward and say, "I like who I am and what I see!" Obviously you are as beautiful on the inside as on the outside. That very essence has been and continues to be the incredible "story of fantastic females" we all are sharing in meeting so many wonderful human beings. We ROCK, WOMEN!!!!!!
Rachel, my heart goes out to you with your Mom's situation. Your request for prayers can be multiplied many times over by calling "Silent Unity" at 1-800-NOW-PRAY (1-800-669-7729). For those of you who have never read it, their Daily Word is always close at hand at my home -----
learned that from my much-loved MOM. Rachel, I met you in CHI on Sat. night where you, CathyinCarolina and Marilyn were working on the blog comments .... was struck by the fact that you are SOOOOOOOOOO gorgeous!!!! Whatever you are doing, keep it up! And if you send me your address, I'll mail you a copy of my CD entitled, PEACE. Shoot me an e-mail at CLMPeace@AOL.com.
Joe, you inspire me, too! I never realized they grow 'em so GREAT out in CA! Again, thanks for all your hard work AND give Umberto a big HUG for me, too. Love that guy! And wipe the perspiration from RR's brow, too! He's got a few hot irons in his fire right now. My hat is off to all of you for all you have done for ALL of us!
Hugs to All,
Peace Bachelorette, aka CarolLee in CO
PS..............
Decided I'd try and get this damn BLOG up to 100 so you guys could get those pics out to us .... got the coffee pot ready to roll as we scroll tomorrow and see how many we know! HOORAY! We can go back to (normal?) life again!!!!!!
Hey Jayne,
I will send you an Email later ... because I just noticed on your Profile - that you were raised in Miami too. I was born and raised in Miami! Anyway ... we will have to 'chat' by Email about that.
I didn't know the owners of Selena's - but loved the place. And I know friends of theirs - who said that they closed down because Old Hyde Park Village was really starting to grow - and their landlords raised the rent so high - that they just decided it wasn't worth it ... and closed down. It took the Village a long time to recover from that loss - because Selena's was such a huge draw to that area. The Cactus Club remained on (I did know the owner there) - but they eventually moved on as well. Anyway ... we'll have to discuss all of this more ... via Email. Very cool! : )
I actually just read an article - because it has been 20 years, this month, that Tampa became one of America's 'Next Great Cities'. Which is when I moved over here - from - would you believe ... Palm Harbor! I lived there for several years too. We definitely have to chat. : )
Will try to write to you tomorrow!
Warm regards,
Brenda
Would someone send me a copy of "the letter?" I haven't gotten one and I am dying of curiosity as to what it said. Best of luck to the 24. May you all have a wonderful experience. I enjoyed meeting some of you in Manhattan Beach!
Best, Kathryn (one of the redheads!)
"If it is to be, it is up to me..."
The Newsletter is scheduled to go out Tuesday morning, barring a last minute "hold the press." A lot of work has been done to create a new Page, mostly by Joe, called Fabulous Finalists. The Newsletter will have pictures and short bios of the Fab Finalists, and the website will have a longer version of biographies. I hope you enjoy everything. Time to go to bed!!! RR
Click Girl, Brenda. Please do send an email to my profile address. I left Miami when I was two years old (back up north) and then to Louisiana at age 8 or 9, and actually raised there. I have been all over the place, Brenda. I am an Irish Gypsy. In fact a priest from Ireland once told me that he thought my family were decendants of Irish Gypsies. My father said that his mother's brothers were all horse thieves and drinkers and probably buried under the court house in New Rochelle. Ha-Ha. I am trying to do a geneaolgy study on the clan, but can't find them. So, the tale about the court house and the thievery might just be true. Do write when you have a chance. Jayne
Good morning all....Joe, I put one of those Shitsu???vibrator pads in my computer chair for my pinched nerves and Wanda I've got a cup of Swiss White chocolate International Coffee so I'm all set for the arm chair journey in the comfort of my condo. I still think it would be great if a group of us ....The RR Reject Club, could meet in New Orleans this time next year. There are some short ecconomical Carnival cruises going out of New Orleans, like 4 days starting like $400.00 for inside. If we wanted to invite a man that would be fine...whatever. Rachell, your Mom is in my prayers. I lost my mom 5 years ago and sure do miss her. The good news is I'll see her again. Sometimes if I don't feel good I just imagines she's here stroking my hair. She used to do that and it would so relax me. Also, Jean, Prarie Criters Mom needs our prayers. COACH - you were pretty clear in MB that you were not wanting to do this, go with your heart.
LADIES OF THE BLOG - it really is about the journey. May your lives be filled with light.
RR & JOE - I have not heard from you either way.
Love to all - take care Michelle
Just a Hi to everyone!!!!
Our Adventure is entering a whole new level!!!
It is easy to be inspired about something when you stand to gain personally from it, when you keep involved because it's a very cool thing that is happening and want to keep investing because you feel that it will be a good thing for more people than just yourself now and later, well I think that is a higher level of thinking!!!
I've had to pull out one of the concepts presented in "The Four Agreement"(someone else will know the author, I already passed the book on to someone else), anyway, I believe the first concept is:
Don't take Anything personally
Hard one for me!!!! I even took not getting a rejection letter personally!!!!
I knew someone else must be feeling this way, and had to write about it here.
The fact that all my friends and colleagues will not shut up and cannot understand why, I did not stand out among over 2000 entrees makes my day and I continue to feel like a winner!!!!
By the way Joe or Richard, Did I miss info on press release for local newspapers???
I still want to post my pic with Richard and invite local singles to e-mail me for information on our on-line community.
I am a local celeb, with my Limo sevice and Theme room motel and I am sure would be contacted for more info, may be can get more men involved!!!
Understand you have been busy, I know what i want to say, just thought it would be opportunity to get your message out on the local level as well!!!Lots of Love!!!
Dreamweaver18:
Well I won't keep you waiting in suspence....seeing that Joe has said that the chosen have been contacted already and seeing I have not recieved any kind of email
( no not even the famous letter )
I am sitting on the reject mat, but I am in good company.....what about you ....did you ever recieve the letter Val?
Your sweet to remind me of the cruise...I look forward to meeting you one day
CALLMELIN I'm on my Cuz's computer to day so look out I'll write 6 word instead on 3 LOL.
So good to talk with you and Barbara is sending you a picture of you and Richard. It's beautiful.
DEBBI EDDI How was the party? knowing you it had to have been fun.
Nancy
My Honest Opinion:
Looks like several of us never recieved the letter and believe it or not .....it hurts more then having recieved it...DOUBLE OUCH!!
Makes me feel like I was not even deserving of a Dear Jane
I'm sure it was of no intent on your part Richard....but I thought you would want to know how I felt.
You might want to revise your system, I think by newsletter would of been faster and more realiable.
Thank you Joe for letting us all know the deed was done.
Cathy in Carolina, Soft Rain, and others who haven't received 'the letter' -
A day or two ago, RR said to email him directly if you haven't received it.
Nancy (in Ohio)
Aloha Cap'n ROE, '1st Mate jOE, UmbertO, Posse:) and Gals on the blog!
SOFT RAIN: They say 'no newz is good newz' I guess we have to wait to see the 'lucky 24' up on the silver screen, so to speak, then for sure we know what is truly happening and to whom;) The shift has taken place, so we gotta handle it with 'GRACE'
LOVE 2U2
