Trip Preparation and Cruises

Hello folks, For the first time since this endeavor started, which was really mid-January as that's when the Oprah segment was taped, hardly any of my thoughts have been on the actual Journey. Now my e-mails are all caught up, the tapes and biographies have all been seen and read, the Finalists Week is set to go, and I can FINALLY concentrate on the Journey itself, and my ultimate quest of finding a life partner. Also, shortly, I expect to have some information about the Cruise to Alaska next summer. Joe continues to work very hard on new Pages for the website with a major goal of attracting more men, and shortly will be informing you of how you can have your picture and a biography on the website, just like the Fabulous Finalists have. Umberto finally has run out of work helping me and he is concentrating on his new passion-surfing. Very best wishes to all, Richard Roe

P.S. This entire venture is far, far, FAR from being over-it's just beginning. By that I mean the goal of Promoting Romance, Adventure, and Recognition for All People 45 and over. There are so many things in the works, but it is premature to discuss them. Stay tuned. All of this is for the good of ALL OF US. RR

Richard, I am excited for you and the 24 finalists, and I am also excited about the other 2000 plus women who entered this adventure. My hat is off to you and Joe for continuing the pursuit of Love and Romance for those of us over 40. The cruise sounds fun, exciting, etc., and I have made a committment to be on the first one!!

Ladies of the blog, I commend you on the incredible humor, intelligence, compassion, and time you put into blogging. I laugh and think everyday when I check it-thank you!

Wanda,
I read everyday, but rarely post. I feel like I know you, though. I try and check the entries everyday, so I have followed everyone's trials and tribulations closely.

I am off to a small, quaint town, Calvert, Texas, for an outdoor wedding, and a much needed weekend at a Bed and Breakfast. When I return on Sunday, I have a "blind" date-wish me luck-I don't often do that.

I am sorry I beat you on the blog this morning, and I have no idea why mine posted twice!!

I remember you...

I went to a wedding a few weeks ago that was outdoors...in a garden surrounded by rolling hills and vineyards...It was a beautiful wedding.

Many who live here make their vows near the ocean. There's a popular place in Pismo Beach with a beautiful gazebo overlooking the Pacific ocean...

I hope your blind date turns out to be a good experience for you...who knows? Good luck.

I'm off to Saturday soccer games...will check back later.

But first, I'm going to click on soft_rain's name and see what happens...

Good Morning Friends,

While we wait and I spend some time catching up in my journal, I bet you can't fool your rt foot with this exercise;

1. While sitting at your desk, lift your right foot off the
floor and make clockwise circles.

2. Now, while doing this, draw the number "6" in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change
direction.

I told you so...And there's nothing you can do about it.

How smart is your right foot?

Can you out smart your foot?

Try this one with any kid under ten:

Ask them the following questions really quickly- tell them to answer quickly. (You can try this on yourself by hiding the answers and speaking speaking them out loud:

1. What is the opposite of bottom?

TOP

2. What does a bunny rabbit do?

HOP

3. What is another name for a policeman?

COP

4. What do you do when you get to a green light?

Did it get you? I guarantee any kid will fall for this. Any more out there?

Hi Lady Base, I am sitting here laughing and laughing at your reference to my Dad. My father was born in 1898. He was 18 years older than my mother. I mention this so you won't think I am Mathusala's daughter. I don't know that he was ever on a bike. He was deaf and really didn't like riding in a car and always made me promise to never go over 30 mph. When he would get in a car, he would slam the door very hard and then jab it with his elbow to be certain it was shut. I now know that in his hey day, the early part of the 20th century that people died because they fell out of the rickety doors on the cars of the day. Mike was a character!! He lost his hearing during WWI. His ship hit a mine and blew up and he lay on his back for two years with all of his injuries. This was long before I was born. He was not totally deaf, and knew how to speak and read when he was injured. He was educated by the Irish Christian Brothers so he had a masters degree upon graduating highschool. He was the oldest of the clan. He was sort of an Archie Bunker type only well educated. He was extraordinarily handsome, opinionated, well educated, spoke 6 or 7 languages, and did not mind letting folks know how brilliant he was. Even though he thought women should never have been given the right to vote, I still loved him. As bright as he was, I don't know that he would like the internet. I know that he did not care much for T.V. I do think that he would like your writing style. He read everything and thought his girls should be reading and studying a page in the dictionary everyday. He was quite a character and definately left his mark on our world through his daughters. He would have never understood the forces! That is why I laughed so hard when I read your post. Well, LBC, that's litte bit about Mike, my Dad. I know he would have been impressed by your style of writing. I sometimes get a little sensitive when I read bullying and bashing of men. I saw my Dad bashed and bullied and I have witnessed some really nasty remarks uttered to my sons by women, and I don't like it. What would we do without our men? Even though we don't always like some of things they do, we don't have to constantly bash them. I just know you will agree with me. Jayne

Isn't that something that we both were thinking of the same song on the same day?

I agree, that's a little spooky...just show what good taste we have in music...

I am not much in to karaoke but when I lived in South Korea, it was very popular and I had some Korean girlfriends who took me to karoke clubs and I remember they wanted me to sing La Bamba with them...What a hoot!
Even the taxi drivers in Korea have karoke music to entertain you while you're sitting in traffic... I love Korea...beautiful country with beautiful people...I have some wonderful memories.

One fine evening, an old man living in Florida grabbed
a five gallon bucket and decided to go picking some
fruit not far from where he lived.

The fruit trees
happened to be next to a pond and as he neared the
pond, he heard voices shouting and laughing with glee.

As he came closer he saw it was a bunch of young women
skinny-dipping in his pond.

He made the women aware of
his presence and they all went to the deep end.

One of the women shouted to him,
"We're not coming out until you leave!

The old man frowned, "I didn't come down here to watch
you ladies swim naked or make you get out of the pond
naked."

Holding the bucket up he said, "I'm here to
feed the alligator."

Moral of the story: Old men can still think fast

Observer96432,
Thanks for your opinion, but it is just that. YOUR opinion. I have my own reasons for being involved, as do others, and I personally don't spend any time worrying if anyone is making money off this endeavor. I really hate it when people like you feel they have to 'wise up' the poor people who must not know what they got into. I am a grown woman, who sees around me that everyone in this world seems to want to make money from everyone else. I think I am intelligent enough to be involved, for my own reasons, in anything I'd like. It is up to me to decide the intentions of others as I see it; I don't need to base my decisions on what you think may be going on. Yes, we are beautiful, intelligent women, and it looks to me that most of us are gaining friends and having a good time conversing and we don't need anyone to tell us we should be looking over our shoulders for some ulterior motive. I sure if any of us feel that way, we know how to disengage ourselves. Give us credit for doing what we want to do; that's what life is about!

Hello Ladies of the blog - just checking in to wish everyone a happy weekend. I love the jokes - keep them coming. What great spirit here for the most part.

Observer 96432? Are you new here on the blog or have you been following the journey all along?
Speaking as one of the finalist - please don't worry about me and my agenda and state of mind- I have no agenda except my love of travel and perhaps meeting my soul mate along the way. Plus I have met these fabulous ladies.

btw..Have you read the bios on these women? They are not broken or needy people - but smart, savy, educated, and professional women. We are stable enough to make our way in life, make our own decisions about how we live it (no one here is just starting out) and live with the consequences. If you have never failed, you have never lived.

I for one think this is a ton of fun!! I love every part of the adventure - can't wait for more..I will feel the same and better for it after the decisions and trips are over whether I am chosen or not.

Have you never had such incredible women in your life? I have and they make me better! You are missing out if you don't have friends like some of these women around you. I am including all the women on the blog. They are all fabulous! Take some time and get to know us before you judge us please. Just might help you get to know yourself better in the process.
Good luck!

Hugs to all
Paula

Everyone is entitled to their opinions...there are some who may agree with you and some may not...that's what's so great about living in the USA... freedom of speech...
By the way, 96432 looks like a CA zip code but I could not determine where that is? Or is it made up maybe?

My son in Denver has always liked the Buffalo Bills...we have never lived in NY but that's HIS team...My daughter-in-law is a BIG Denver Bronco fan...even has a tattoo of their logo on her back.

I am a baseball fan. Atlanta Braves are my team of choice...used to live in Georgia and got hooked. Andru Jones/left field is my favorite player on the team.

This morning I took my grandaughters to watch my daughter Lisa (35) play soccer. It was a beautiful morning here sunny and warm. They tied 1-1. Now were home and my sweet little chick-a-dees are making halloween decorations for my house... They are very creative with stickers, paper, glue and markers...I always keep these things on hand for them...also pom poms, pipe cleaners, and anything else I can find.

I am going to play with them but I'll check back later tonight. Have a great Sunday everyone!

Hi Ladies,

There are people who are posting under new "names" who were definitely "anonymous" posters from before. Please ignore them when they post such negative comments. They only want the kind of attention I am providing right now. They think that you cannot think for yourselves and feel compelled to step out of their unfulfilled lives and try to tell you how to run yours (I mean, who would waste one moment of their precious lives reading and writing in a place which they find so offensive.)

I keep going back to what I have said time and time again-- if you don't like what you find here, please leave. And don't keep coming back. While it is a supreme compliment that they can't stay away, they should obviously find other places where they are more welcome. Others have done so before to what I can only hope are happier results.

Thanks, everyone! Back to putting up the Halloween decorations. At what age do the kids not care about that anymore?!

I am back from a beautiful, outdoor, romantic wedding, and I certainly have those feelings of wanting that "special" person in my life! The bride's grandfather did the ceremony, with a touching tribute to "family and love". The flowers were rich fall colors, spectacular. The reception was under huge oak trees with deep rust silk cloths, and gorgeous flowers. There was a live band-fiddle and all-that was one of the best-played all kinds of music, but is actually a country western band. Lots of us stayed in B&B's around town, and it was just a perfect weekend.

I am off to a blind date-oh my gosh, what am I doing??

Good luck to all of the finalists-Pauls seems to be one of the few posting, so keep us updated, and enjoy this time-it may turn out to be the most important time of your life!!

Hi Joe! Good to see you around here. Thx for deleting the "nergatives." We don't need that here.

How old are kids when they don't care about Halloween anymore? Heck! my 29-year-old daughter has already had her decorations up since right after Thanksgiving! It's her favourite day of the year! She has loved Halloween since she went out as Little Red Riding Hood at age 2 and is now excited about dressing up her almost 2-year-old son as a pumpkin! So...keep those decorations handy for the eventual grandchildren. :D It will never end.

I hope you don't mind my using this forum, Joe, but I am looking for women who were widowed between the ages of 40ish and 60ish. I am looking into the possibility of writing an inspirational book about women who have been through such a devastating loss. Anyone wishing to get in touch with me can do so through my blog site. Thanks so much.

By the way, say Hi to Richard for me - I hope he'll get lots of rest this week because he's got a mighty big week coming up very soon. Ciao for now.

Ooups.... Sister Paula

Hey Wille....now I need to learn the BLUE thangy thing

***********

A Guy walks into a bar with an octopus.

He sits the octopus on a stool and announces that this is a very talented octopus, which can play any musical instrument in the world.

Everyone laughs at the man, calling him an idiot.

So he says that he'll wager $50 to anyone who has an instrument that the octopus can’t play.

A guy walks up with a guitar and puts it beside the octopus.

Immediately the octopus picks up the guitar and starts playing better than Eric Clapton.

The guitar man pays up his 50.

Another guy comes up with trumpet.

This time the octopus plays like Miles Davis.

This guy pays his 50.

Then a Scotsman hands over a set of bagpipes.

The octopus fumbles with it for a minute and then sits down with a confused look.

"Ha," the Scot says.
"Can ye no play it?"

The Octopus looks at him and says: "Play it?

I’m going to make love to it as soon as I figure out how to get these pyjamas off..."

Three scots and three englishmen are traveling by train to a football match.

At the station, the three englishmen each buy tickets and watch as the three scots buy only a single ticket.

"How are three people going to travel on only one ticket?" asked one of the three Englanders.

"Watch and you'll see," answers one of the Scotsmen.

They all board the train.

The Englishmen take their respective seats but all three scotsmen cram into a toilet and close the door behind them.

Shortly after the train has departed, the conductor comes around collecting tickets.

He knocks on the toilet door and says, "Ticket, please." The door opens just a crack and a single arm emerges with a ticket in hand.

The conductor takes it and moves on.

The Englishmen saw this and agreed it was quite a clever idea.

So after the conference, the Englishmen decide to copy the Scots on the return trip and save some money.

When they get to the station, they buy a single ticket for the return trip.

To their astonishment, the Scots don't buy a ticket at all.

"How are you going to travel without a ticket," asks one perplexed Englishman.

"Watch and you'll see," says one of the Scotsmen.

When they board the train the three Scots cram into a toilet and the three English cram into another one nearby.

The train departs.

Shortly afterward, one of the Scots leaves his restroom and walks over to the restroom where the Englishmen are hiding.

He knocks on the door and says, "Ticket, please."

Okay, now that you have the picture thingy down here's the instructions I posted on a previous blog to post in blue, bold and italic:

For blue: < a > your word goes here then close with < / a >
Take out the spaces...I only use them here to show you what to type.
example: < a > willy < / a > but close the spaces before and after the word you want to be blue...got it?

for bold: use b instead of a
for italic: use i instead of a

does this make sense?

By the way, I really have enjoyed the jokes today and mary r that circle with the foot was wierd...I tried so hard to keep it going in the right direction...and I thought I was a multi tasked person...

Good Morning !!!

I am in Hopes that our Dear Friends in Florida are okay.

Thank You Joe for taking care of yesterday's Blog..

I wish that the world could have compassion for others and reach out with even a smile to brighten ones day if they have nothing else to give.

Often, I have found because I am not a mind reader, but a people watcher, a Smile, or a HUG, sometimes - will brighten a persons world, then lend a helping hand, no words need to be exchanged. That is how Love is spead around the world.

Even a tear that is shared - happy or sad, still Love is spread around the world.

If you need an example: watch a baby, they cry when they see their mom cry!
You laugh when they laugh.
They Smile~YOU SMILE:)

LOVE MAKES THE WORLD GO AROUND..

HERE IS A HUG FOR ALL OF YOU
REMEMBER A BEAUTIFUL DAY BEGINS WITH A LITTLE LOVE...

hey paula and anyone else down there on the eastern coast of florida--i am up in boston and haven't been able to get in touch with anyone in my home town (wellington--about 15 miles west of palm beach and about 1/2 hr south of palm beach gardens) apparently the news up here isn't focused on what's going on down there, but would love any update. i know it came onshore as a cat 3, but don't know what it is doing as it crosses the state. hope you are all well and safe. after spending one month without electricity and phones last year, i decided to wait out hurricane season this year before i headed back down. i opened up my barn (it's built like ft. knox) to friends who have barns not quite hurricane proof. can't get through to them either,so hope all is well for everyone who is experiencing this storm. may it at least pass through quickly to minimize danger. click girl you look like you lucked out up north--hope so.
thoughts and prayrs for all
