Explore. Dream. Discover!

Hello Ladies,

"callmelin" that gave me goosebumps on the prior blog. I think of the "dash" anytime I visit a graveyard. I spoke of my "Mexican fisherman" life because I didn't want it written on my gravestone- "Man, he really worked hard at work" or somesuch. I just found this great saying from Mark Twain we should all consider--

"Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things
you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines.
Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover."

"Carol in Riverwood" very well put. Ladies, I've grown to know Richard much better these past six months (added to the many years I've known him prior) and I can tell this has been difficult for him. It was made even more difficult by the many applicants and him giving his word that he would review all the materials sent in. On top of that, you've heard how he has tried so hard to answer each and every email sent to him.

This has been a daunting task-- not just the physical part of doing the administrative work but literally putting his "heart" into it. He made a commitment to each of you that he would seriously consider all your materials. He does not want to travel alone anymore. He does want to find his soul mate. He has been seriously looking for you-- that takes a lot of work. A lesser man would have taken so many short cuts. I know Richard did not.

Good night!

Hi, CB
Does it make it funnier if you knew we each had one bun hanging off the same stool. I agree, it IS really funny!
And, Willimena,
No, Cal Poly does not host tournaments. But I love the area...maybe I'll just take a little road trip...would love to see you again!
And, finally, to my good friend, LindainTucson I posted a message to you on your blog tonight. You will also have lots of prayers comin' your way. The naysayers can talk all they want, but I KNOW how powerful prayer is, and you've got lots of that power comin' atcha!! love, shar

The Set of the Sails
by Ella Wheeler Wilcox

One ship drives east, and another west
With the self-same winds that blow;
'Tis the set of the sails
And not the gales
That decides the way to go.

Like the winds of the sea are the ways of fate,
As they voyage along through life;
'Tis the will of the soul
That decides its goal,
And not the calm or the strife.

I hope and pray this all true. Time will tell.

I just wanted all of us to stay in touch and felt the pain in the blog.

Sorry to any of my sister's if I affended any of you, that was not my intention. I didn't want to lose the journey-no matter what it took.

Linda, the power of prayer is everything. It got me through some tuff spots-as you know. So hang in there call if you need too.

Also, someone said my blog site doesn't have my e-mail address. I thought it did. I hope to be able and work on that some.

I am on my way to Washington State for a granddaughters birthday and see all of my children. See all of the grandchildren (15) and smell the trees, the air, the horse, and look at gray clouds. I do love Washington, but for personal reasons AZ has been home for 2 years.

Again, please forgive me if I upset any women on the blog.

OK, one last post...
Cheryl, here's how you do the blue, bold, italic thingy

For blue: < a > your word goes here then close with < / a >
Take out the spaces...I only use them here to show you what to type.
example: < a > willy < / a > but close the spaces before and after the word you want to be blue...got it?

for bold: use b instead of a
for italic: use i instead of a

does this make sense?

Goodnight...it's been fun with you and Cheryl tonight...

Hi Willy, Shar, CB, et al How're y'all doin'? Willy I went to Hearst Castle when I was about 12 years old and you've made me dream of going again! I'm coming down and we'll go together. That's a beautiful area around there. I remember almost drowning in the surf at the beach at San Simeon.

Well, our school won the Cross Country race overall for our division today! It was a drizzly day, but my Gr 4 boys won for all the Gr 4 boys of all the schools!!! I got a lot of great shots of the kids and would love to post them but, well, you know the internet - I wouldn't dare. I will try to post a shot or two of the area where they ran, though, plus a picture of me and my birthday cake! :)

Been SO busy at school - enjoy the kids but all the OTHER stuff that teachers have to do is overwhelming! The public school teachers in BC are all out on strike right now, but I teach in a private school that is not affiliated with the union. It's a real mess between the union and the government! At least I'm getting paid.

Hey girls! We better reserve the whole bar - I'm coming for a drink, too. Party on...

Hello Ladies,
There were so many ideas, commentaries, and uplifting words on this blog in the past two days; it put me in a very pensive mood. I have found myself trying to share uplifting words with others who have seemed to need a kind word or two (including myself), as is usually my nature.
After reading the story about the dash,I decided to do something I haven't done in a long time. That is, give myself a long overdue, but well deserved pat on the back. I stayed off the blog today, because I spent time thinking about myself and the life I've led, and the things I have accomplished. You see, when I thought about it, I know I said something about feeling as if I don't measure up to the accomplishments and the fulfilling lives that the chosen 25 have presented as their reasons to be selected. I felt a bit insignificant. That is why today I spent time thinking of my contributions to this world. I hope you don't mind if I share my greatest milestone with you all, for it has been nine years since I retired, and sometimes it feels as if those years were another lifetime. I rarely speak of my old career anymore, sometimes I feel it just wasn't that memorable.
I was a police officer for the City of Rochester, NY for eleven years. Today, I thought about the commendations I have, and pulled out from my closet the tattered box filled with commendations I recieved over the years. Most in aged frames, I got to think about The three lives I saved; people desperate enough in jump into the river we have going through the middle of the city. The 6'3" rapist that I took into custody alone. The burglary suspect I had to confront and subdue in the rear of an apartment complex, again alone because my backup was so far away. The three different murder suspects that I helped capture, the night I spent five hours standing in a burned out building, in 30 degree weather because next door, a man was holding his three year old hostage with a shotgun. The night a constantly suicidal man made a fatal mistake, and accidently blew off the lower half of his face. I had to stay in his emergency room watching the doctors futilely work to keep him alive; it took him half an hour to die.
I apologize for the horrendous thoughts, but that was the career I chose to be of help to people in this world. I can't believe I sometimes minimize my contributions to this world; thinking others are somehow superior to me in their accomplishments. That is why I feel we all should take the time to reflect on the life you have led. remind yourself of what you have given to this world just by being you.Remind yourself that as long as we share with and care about others, we are all winners in this life.
Thank you, my sisters for allowing me to share.

His divorse isn't finished but who knows what will happen down the road. He's definely fun.
Willemenia, do you type the a and b and i in ????On my email I just go click on it.
Well, I hope all of us who have been flushed from the stool of RR's Heart have a great Thur. There was an old country song called Flushed FromThe Stool Of Your Heart and all this stool stuff reminded me of that. Dear Friends,

Thanks again for more great stories including, but not limited to "Dash" and "Set of the Sails".

At work last night as I was reading more about Karen's and others contributions and courage, I think something about our qualities should be in our title.

(Coming from the health care field, Stool automaticly raises a different picture)

I love you all for various reasons, However I do not have the time to go to all the spots and once I get to them and START "PEEKING," they are so big that my 'base' would get bigger just sitting so long.
I so want to keep involved (Growing) and not miss opportunities. I love being on the e-mail lists.

Lets brainstorm
Maybe somewhere lies a clue for how we can expand together. I always ansewer e-mails sooner or later. I know that is the old fashioned way. But, I started in the blog because I thought Richard set it up as communication to him that every one could read because we all had simuliar questions for the same answer. It has worked wonderfully! The real important stuff still comes through my direct
e-mail or phone.
OK--Richard gives us a way to subscribe and unsubscribe to newsletters, etc.as we want.

Now I feel like ereasing all I just wrote because it duplicates all they/we have worked so hard at. (But---Like us learning the simple basics; How many times have certain instructions been repeated, etc?? and many tips came through that I missed in Skimming or just don't remember and don't want to go back through old news or chatter to find.)examples: html's photoes, fab finalists, men's blog key etc.

(Or maybe now another link from Richard's for chit chat, instructions, movitations, recepies,
categories of links, etc. that he has no responsibilities for.(Mixing business with pleasure??)I know we have our own sights, but I am only interested in certain things and don't have time for everybody elses business..

I remember I had severial "How To Headquarter" sites running years ago, that grew so big I couldn't keep up. (There are many, many now.)
Also a 15 minute local TV network show, "Good News with Mary O'Day" (my birth name)that my X made me give up--(Too much time away from family). They were specialized, fitted to various interests.

Again, as I write this about this develeping NEED, now that finalists are chosen, Maybe Joe, and staff, **you are already addressing this with something you are working on. I am not rushing or even impatient, just brainstorming for evolving Departments/Needs and not interested in deluding via seperation..

The mature market has a lot of talent and expendible Time.

How many people can we effectively attract? (With possible answers from a pool of over HOW MANY?

You have learned that women like helping, will change their priorities and continue till the goal is done or they change their mind? They communicate and share with lesser EGOES. Lets be most efective. That is Fun and Enjoyment.

This is quite a journey with many Horizons.

*The Way You Set the Sails*
Thanks LaBelle

Hi, maryrose
Yes, that is what got the whole discussion started... with Canadian Bloggette's same observations...see the end of the last blog! All the comebacks are SOOOO FUNNY! You guys are great!

joeinmb At first I didn't like your idea because I thought of the "tattletale" OR "spy" definition of "stool pigeon". However, that is the second definition in my BIG dictionary. And the FIRST definition is PERFECT...so now I like it! (a pigeon used as a decoy to draw others within a net) GOOD JOB!

O.K. Willemena
Since you have made the offer, I am going to make a road trip and come to your place, buy you a drink, and share a stool with you, again!...FOR SURE! All who want to, can join us...just an informal, no big deal, just a chance to get together and kibbitz about the journey as RR and his gang relate it to us this winter. I am out of school the month of January (the month I was SUPPOSED TO BE on a trip with RR...INSTEAD, I am going to the French Med. Coast with a lady friend, but only for a couple of weeks.) How about late January? OR maybe between Christmas and the New Year? What's best for you, Willy? Whaddaya say, Lois? dandpointLois, Sound good?
We are gonna DO this. The three of us will pick the date, to save confusion...and then all who want to and can come, will be WELCOME! This is gonna be GREAT! LOVE TO ALL!, SHAR

Sitting in Dallas airport waiting for a flight.

Hope everyone is well, and can I please get off my matt now?

Congrats!!!You did it!!! the blue thingy... and Merry Mary and callmelin too! Good job!

Coach
Whatever works for you and Lois will be fine with me.(except Dec 2-10) I am going on a cruise to Acapulco, Ixtapa and Manzanillo...

Callmelin
Could we be going at the same time?

Debby Eddy and others
I live in Paso Robles, CA (just a 30 min drive north of San Luis Obispo) I do have an extra bedroom and a double blow up bed (I'll have to borrow some stools as I don't have any of those, but my daughter does! :) so we'll make room for anyone who wants to come...sounds like fun...we'll finally have that PJ party we've been talking about! Any time in January works for me too.

Everyone's welcome...the more the merrier! We'll make room. Oh! I forgot to tell you that Hearst Castle really isn't my home...so sorry to disappoint anyone...wouldn't it be cool if we could go swimming in the Neptune pool though?

Lois
I can certainly understand why you would want your own stool...sharing somehow doesn't sound very sanitary does it? LOL

Marty
Forget about that naughty mat...are you with us?

Joe
Now that coach has explained the definition of "stool pigeon" I like it too!

I quickly scanned here but I'll read the posts later tonight and probably respond again...

to everyone
some of you may be confused about the "stool thing".
It all started in MB when I met Shar/coach. We met in the bar one evening and I bought her a drambuie. Since there was only one stool available...we shared...and when our cheeks were getting numb...we switched sides...hey, that's what "stool sisters" do... We actually started conversing on the previous blog last night and carried it over to this one...

Gotta go for now...you ladies are so much fun... :)

Hi again,

The Roadway driver just came with a delivery.
Yes after he unloaded My Merc. passenger door replasement part from his truck and put it so nicely on my porch, all they have to do is get it to the end of their truck. The recipients are responsible for unloadint the goods) I was chuckling so hard inside, secretly thinking:

Just as was dealt with on the other 50 minutes of Oprah,(topic was about what was he really interested in) proceeding Richard's 10 minute section, we Ladies attract men anywhere we go or are!!!! Even walking to or on stools!!!!! We have the final choise of who are the keepers.
"Smile and look around us"

There is a big resturant in Chicago whose Ladies's room has several equiped chalk boards asking for the best Pick up line you have heard, The worst, what works, etc.

Of course I don't know what was in the men's room.

:-) ;-)

United soulmates sisterhood or just
"Soulmates Sisterhood" seems better to me.

As I learned in MB, we already are
"females with benefits".
Do we really want the guys that only want to play? The guy who is that now, might be that way forever?

Before SB in MB, I had never done an ALL Girl big party. It seems if I plan ALL Ladies, that is how it will be. I still would rather be learning in mixed company, closer to my dream instead of just talking about it.

(How long is my stay in the "Sent to by Ladies corner?") :-{ Long enough, just turn off my key.

xoxo

Good evening Ladies, what a day, to beautiful in my neck of the woods. Willy I leave on the cruise on October 23rd and return on the 31st. My friend from childhood and I try to travel at least once a year. She has MS and it is easier for her to cruise than fly and explore. We have vowed to travel together for as long as she is able even if I have to push her in a wheelchair. We are on Carnival - Spirit how about you? It would be great to see you aboard you would love my friend, Laura.

CJ Thanks for the suggestion for Ixtapa it sounds wonderful. Laura and I are going to swim with the dolphins, I think it will be really great for her. I've heard that the experience is really healing.

It has been a really fun day here on the blog but I think we had better think about a name. The one about stools would mean a constant explaining thang to new ladies don't you think? the same thing happened with nnbbsh. HeyCoach got something in your dictionary that would fit?

Hello there folks,
I thought I'd jump in here because it looks like I (and others) have ruffled some feathers here. Are we dragging down the mood here? Possibly, depends on your perpective. It also depends on whether this has become an east coast-west coast thing. Or whether you have a problem with people reaching out, for help, or conversation, or introspection, or fun, or any of many other reasons why we would be here sharing. Maybe you've forgotten that people who went to Chicago are also trying to reach each other, because some of us had a deeper experience than just meeting Richard. Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying reading about you gals and the fun you're having with your little stool thing. But I would never suggest that you're wasting our time, or talking about nothing that interests anyone else. As long as we give each other the courtesy and respect that each of us deserves, and we're not mean, and we are all still engaged in the adventure that brought us all here, I think this is a place everyone is free to reach out in any way they need to. I mean this in the kindest way possible. Lighten up!

I get from Dec 17 to Jan 2 off and will be craving some warmth! Both weather-wise and new friends-wise. By the way, how's the toe?

Lois Thanks for the info re the Cambria Pines Lodge. Of course, the romance will have to come from the ambience :D

Willy What the situation for B&Bs around your area? You might want to check that out in case there's a real crowd of us that want to get together. You can be tour guide.

When I arrived home this afternoon...I scanned the blog reading only remarks from those I knew and just now have read what you wrote last night at 11:01:20.

I truly admire you for the path you chose in life...one of the most noble professions I can certainly think of is being a police officer...You should be very proud of your accomplishments...it takes a superior human being to fill those shoes.

Please accept my hand of friendship and forgive me...I do not mean to ignore anyone on this blog because I consider everything said to be worthwhile... otherwise, they would have never said it in the first place.

I think I just got carried away with the craziness we started last night...

Ladies of the left coast;
Thank you all for your friendship, understanding, and kindness.
Willemina, Love2travel, Marty and Debby Eddy, I wish I had had a chance to meet you young ladies, as well as the new friends I made in Chicago. It's nice to join your chatter, even though most times you don't know I'm here. Right now it's after one a.m., but I'm so addicted to this, as it's new to me, that my right arm and elbow are starting to hurt!
Debby Eddy, just because your not good at sharing, doesn't say anything about your courage, or strength, or the great person you probably are. Our experiences in life can make us unable to express sometimes; Becoming a police officer did a lot to open me up, as I was quite shy as a kid. You seem to me to express yourself quite well, and you appear to be open and fun loving.
I'm wishing I was there! You gals are having way more fun than I am!
Have a good night, ladies.

Monday night, Mikey heard noise from his mothers room. He tiptoed down the hall and peeked in through the slightly open door. He saw her nacked on her bed touching her chest saying "I want a man." Tuesday night he heard more noise from her room and went to look again. Yes, she was the same as before only almost yelling, "I want a man."
Wed night He heard different sounds. When he went to check, he saw her with a man. He ran back to his bedroom, got nacked, spralled out on the bed, started rubbing his chest and screamed
"I want a bicycle."
Good night

Hello Ladies,
My suggestion for a group name would be "The Sisterhood of the Traveling......(what could we put here??). There was a movie that came out this summer with some 20 somethings called "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants", there's also a book by that name.

We could also be the Stool Hens, Buns of Stool..lol, The Stoolie Girls??

I do live in San Diego and would be willing to drive to said get together at Willemina's. I love driving up the coast! My time is kind of limited to between Christmas and New Year's.

Vanessa, I know you blogged on another blog but I hope you will blog here too. I read your profile, what a bittersweet story. I grew up on a horse ranch and did some riding as a kid. I worked with race horses as a teenager. Hope you enjoy your trip to CA to meet Richard!

Paula, my prayers will be with you in FL. My stepmom lives in Okeechobee, FL and I'm hoping Hurricane Wilma will go back to "Bedrock" namely the Atlantic Ocean somewhere. You must be getting excited about your trip to CA to see Richard!

Callmelin, I think it is so cool that you and Laura still travel together. My Pastor got to swim with dolphins in the ocean on his 50th birthday recently. It was a life long dream come true for him.
Enjoy your cruise!

A week ago tonight I finished singing at Yom Kippur services. To break the "fast" along with my paycheck the Rabbi gives out a pound of Sees Candy! I thought of you all and all the candy we ate in MB!

Lots of love to you all,
Lois

I have been to Hearst Castle a few times since I have moved here. I would love to see it decorated for Christmas...it's also open in the evenings during the holidays and sometimes they have special fundraiser dinners...I had a friend who was a tour guide and was told that employees may now swim in the Neptune pool! How cool is that? Hey, I see a part-time job in my future...maybe. It's about a 45 min drive from my home to the castle. Also, congratulations to your cross country boys! He has run the Disney World Marathon for the last three years...takes place in Orlando in January...

Where are you tonight? By the time you start blogging, I will be ready for bed...If you come out, I'll let you have your own stool with all the bells and whistles...how's that?

Earlier I made a comment to Lois that should have gone to you re: you wanting your own stool...I said that I could understand that as it's really not very sanitary to be sharing stools...LOL

Debby Eddy
Your invite sounds like fun! Let's do it sometime...Disneyland sounds like fun too. I try to go with my grandaughters and their parents at least once a year...whether I need it or not. Take care of that toe...I broke a toe once and remember how painful it was...ouch!

Debby...even I have trouble sharing my own heartaches in life, but I like to feel that I can help others to deal with their pain. Believe me, we all have issues and none of them are menial...

Another great place we could meet up is in Carmel...beautiful!

Hello to you Mary R
I always love to hear what you have to say. You're so intriguing...

Today is my grandaughter's birthday and we (the family) took her out to her favorite restaurant for dinner. Her party will be Saturday at the local bowling alley. My daughter is making the cake to look like bowling lanes, the candles are bowling pins...she gets the greatest ideas from Family Fun magazine...also made the invites for the party, paper bowling balls, black with white lettering...she's such a good mommy to her girls.

Haven't heard from you in a while...hope all is ok? I miss ya.

Linda in Tucson
I've been thinking of you all day today...I posted another message on your blog. Please stay in contact with us and God speed with your recovery...

hello to ada who doesn't post here because she doesn't have a blog set up...thanks for the postcard from Chicago :)

So many of the ladies have not been posting the last few days and I hope you are all doing okay...please just drop us a line to let us know that you are doing okay because we do care...

Mary R
Ooh...you're naughty...but you don't have to go to the naughty mat because it's darn funny...

On hearing that her elderly grandfather had just passed away, Susan went straight to her grandparent's house to visit her 95-year-old grandmother and comfort her.

When she asked how her grandfather had died, her grandmother replied, he had a heart attack while we were making love on Sunday morning."

Horrified, Susan told her grandmother that two people nearly 100 years old having sex would surely be asking for trouble.

"Oh no, my dear," replied granny. "Many years ago, realising our advanced age, we figured out the best time to do it was when the church bells would start to ring. It was just the right rhythm. Nice and slow and even. Nothing too strenuous, simply in on the Ding, and out on the Dong."

She paused, wiped away a tear and then continued, "and if that damned ice cream truck hadn't come along, he'd still be alive today!"

REAL STORY

Business Week, cover story, June 27, 2005

OLD SMART & PRODUCTIVE.

The next generation of older Americans is likely to make a much bigger contribution to the economy than conventional wisdom would have you believe.

If society can tap into seniors' capabilities, employers will benefit, growth and living standards will rise, and the financing woes of Medicare and Social Security will be easier to solve. —

Richard proves this right!!

KARENJW—thank you for your story, I could see you there looking at your things and remembering. That is a life I understand. I wish you mirth, gentleness and pleasure in your years ahead. It is an honor, a second nature and strength to respond and you will always have it.
DEbbyEddy-- 333—I like 3’s also https://alaskaair.recruitmax.com/ENG/candidates/ Oh man, you’ve got the cruisin’ machine on order! Tell us what it feels like! WOW! CJ IATA site sounds great, details por favor ! .
Ba-Bette! Fantastic photo!!! No Fabulous, fabulous photo!
Willemina-- I don’t even drink coffee and yours sounds too royally good to resist! Sharing dogs , that’s a sweet idea! I haven’t done that for years! I would much rather dog sit than baby sit—another confession . . . I do not like babies at all and it actually makes me very good in our ambulance runs that are Peds emergencies. Hearst Castle scenario—funny!
MM-My heart is with you in your loss. I love my friends so much. Carry them with you.
Linda in T, I’m not sure we’ve ever been given any clear, exact standards of procedure for blogging here, which is a looseness I appreciate. I tend to feel confined in places that are extremely restrictive. I would not worry about pushing the envelope for positive reasons of support.
Janie I love Cathedrals! No. . I didn’t even connect the two thoughts The real strong Christain comments are what provoked my need to share my choice that I am very proud of. I just need you all to know who I am- not important to me to focus on it. Check out grace Cathedral In San Francisco—My dearest friend and art instructor sells her silk angels there In the gift shop. Carlos Santana bought a bunch of them. I’m still pagan enough to light a candle ! I would love that! And I would love to hear about your daddy, Janie. A church is a beautiful place for people. Most hot tubs just don’t have that sacred aura.
Good one Soft Rain: Dessert, I like that! LESLIE. . . I’m wishing men WOULD come and go. If I catch scent of one , I’m going to throw out the net—you grab his legs.

Tonight was golden stethoscope night for a night of Medical Fear Factor. It was fun. Since our chief is also a cop and weapons instructor, we ended with a kind of Alaskan Roulette with working and non-working stun guns under fire helmets, guessing which was which. The losers got the stun. I hate tazers and stun guns – it really ripped my fear factor, but the stuff we had to suction and drink wasn’t too bad: beans and rice and lemonade. My team was 3rd.

Good morning ladies,
Boy, Mary R sent me to bed chuckling, and softrain, When I burst out laughing this morning, my two year old neice lokked at me like I was nuts! It's great to start the day with laughter.
LadyBase Camp, thank you for the sentiment, I return a salute to you, as I feel emergency responders may have a tougher job than officers do. By the way, I want to get in on grabbing that guy. I'll grab his arms, (I have fur lined handcuffs), and bring that taser. We may need it!:):):)
Have a great day ladies!
