New Newsletter Going out Today- August 9!

Ladies,

You may be very interested in today's Senior Bachelor Newsletter. Many questions are answered and I've updated information about the Search. My goodness, not enough time in the day!!!! Here is a snippet:

"I have been asked, very frequently, for specific characteristics in a woman that I feel would make for the best partners. Do I like blondes, brunettes, or redheads? Do I prefer tall or short women? Does the woman have to be white? Does the woman have to be a certain religion?

Hair color or style is not an important factor at all as far as I am concerned. A woman in between 5 feet and 6 feet works fine for me. I am unconcerned with a woman's color or religion. I have been asked what is my description of "fit." To me this means being able to be busy all day, whether it be wandering around a jungle, hiking, swimming, boating, racing from one form of transportation to another, and the like. I mentioned earlier in this Newsletter that I hope I am fit enough to travel as I have in the past. To that extent I am "in training" and hope to be in the best physical shape I can be when the journey begins. The short answer to a description of "fit" is being able to be on the go 12 hours a day under challenging circumstances."

Ciao. RR

PS- Several Newsletter subscribers are saying they are not getting the Newsletter. Check your email service and see if it is routing it to your "junk" or "spam" mail inbox. If you find it there, there should be a way to "add" the email address to your allowed email list. Thanks.

PPS- Of course, your comments are always welcome on the blog!

Good afternoon Richard,
Your description of "fit" is exactly what I thought it would be. I do consider myself to be in this category. I can sometimes run circles around my two daughters who are in their thirties. Well, actually only one of them, because the other plays league soccer at 34! (guess she gets her energy from mom). Or it could be our dutch genes? I'm glad to hear that you have such a broad, open mind about who may be chosen to travel with you. I do hope the person you choose is active and lots of fun to be with!
Am I first to respond today? WOW!

Hey Richard....
There seems to be a problem with your link to sign up for the "new" newsletter..........when one goes in to register: your name ,address, phone number ,zip and email all show up on the screen!! Plus if one tries to overwrite it...no can do, it will not submit!!
Just thought this might be a "great" to know!

Dear Richand,

Not meant to be anything but a compliment, But now you are talking, well--actually WRITING!!! This letter is by far the best you have written. I took an extra shift last night cause they were so short and I had nothing better to do. I know I had to be there today at 8AM anyway to teach a New Employee short 4 hour class, so I just worked my 12 and stayed on. It is so exciting to have all your new info to ponder as I fix and eat something serious. (I hate going to resturants alone.)
There just can't even be any complaints from the other bloggers this time. GREAT! (and you know it is,tooYou knew what you were doing before you ever asked usfrom all of your past experiences, but thanks for asking us anyway.
Hugs,
Mary Rose

P.S. Lets hope you have enough info to make your decision before the price of Post Cards goes up again. :-)

Ladies,

May I ask you help in testing the corrections to the SB Cruise Newsletter Signup. Could some of you please go to the first Newsletter I sent today and follow these directions and see if it works for the email address you use to receive the SB Newsletter. Please post your test results on the blog. Thanks so much!

1. Near the very bottom of the Newsletter (below the blue border) on the left side is a link highlighted in blue called "Update
Profile/Email Address." Click on that link.

2. A new screen will pop up called the Senior Bachelor Free Newsletter Registration. If you have a pop up blocker you may have to disable it to make it work.

3. On the left side of this page in the middle you will see the words "Your Interests:" The "Senior Bachelor Search and Journey" is already checked. Let it remain checked.

4. To subscribe to the new Senior Bachelor Cruise Newsletter, please check the "Cruises" box.

5. At the bottom of the page, click on the "Submit" button. (Note: You may be asked to re-enter your email address for verification. Do so if asked and click on "Submit" again.)

You will now automatically receive the next special Senior Bachelor Cruise Newsletter! Thanks!

Ladies,

I'm told the only way to get on the list for the Senior Bachelor Cruise Newsletter is by using the "Update Profile/Email Address" link on any Newsletter I send (or have sent) to you. When you click on that link, the system knows it is you and changes your preferences for other newsletters, etc.

Perhaps what you can try is closing out all of your browser windows and starting over. Somebody told me the computer keeps things in a special memory area and the only way to clear it is to close the browsers.

Sorry for the bother and thanks so much for taking the time to help me with this glitch. RR

PS- Thanks for the positive comments on this week's Newsletter!!!

Sean Connery I mean Richard (you could be his double) and Fellow Blogger's,

I just finished viewing Pop&Me. Do you realize how fortunate you are to have three lovely sons! To see a father and son embrace the way you did with your three son was quite touching.

I think every father and son should view this video, and together if possible.

My father has just two girls and we have become closer in the later part of our lives. We always hugged and kissed as fathers and daughters do, and said "I love you", but I always wondered what it would have been like for dad to have a son.

He always took us camping, lake, ocean fishing, abalone diving (he dove, we were too young) but we got caught up in the excitement when dad would put on his wet suit at 5am, take a shot of whiskey, give a loud hoot and take off with his tool and bag. We waited in the warm trailer for him to return with his catch. He'd be so happy and his happiness was contagious.

I want to share Pop&Me with my three sons. It will be one of the gifts they shall receive in their Christmas stockings this year because I was so impressed. Not so much by the travel and scenery, but by the love, warmth, and male emotion and bonding.

I can't believe that you and Chris were busted for jumping around and karating chopping each other while on the bed, and then the sssshhhh thing. Something I could see my sons (my daughters too) doing.

It is a difficult time when your children leave home for the first time. It feels as though you've lost a limb and you have to retrain your body to funtion without it IMHO.

The scene at the beach the sun going down, yours and Chris' arms around one anothers backs. Meeting up with Gaby and Richard. Every minute wonderful (except for the hog butchering!!!)

All of your sons have such warm smiles and you can see the child in the adult through their eyes (you too, Richard).

One thing I do disagree with you about however. Getting old does not suck, getting old alone does though. But I'm still 49 (for 8 more days) and I don't think I'll be alone for the rest of my life. But I am certainly going to be very selective of who I want to be with.

So in closing (with the aforementioned topic) Richard you are so comfortable with your sons and it is truly quite lovely.

Now new topic. I have not traveled the world. I've been to Mexico (cruise, three ports-of-call), Hawaii a few other states of the union. And does traveling around to Colorado to follow my daughters collegiate b-ball games; Texas to see my sons collegiate football games count as making me a worldly traveler?

BTW, my daughter who lives in Denver is a triathelte. This week-end she placed 138 out of 2,000 and ranked in the top 7% in a triathalon. She and her sister can kick a** on the v-ball court.

I played softball up until a few years ago (outfield). I knew how to back-up the infield. If I don't make the cut can you put me on the back-up list for your travel companion choices *grin*. Golf is a sport I now enjoy, but haven't played much lately.

Well I did go on just a bit! Saawwweee.

PS I'd bungee jump, but only if we were set-up the way you and Chris were *another grin and a wink*. BTW great teeth. I'm a teeth and eye woman, first things I look at in a person (male or female). Then nails, must be clean!!!

Bye-bye now.

Aloha Richard/Ricardo!
What an exciting Newsletter today and the idea to have a seperate Newsletter pertaining solely to the upcoming cruises, as you so aptly put it Quote: "Love Boat Cruise next Summer" Unquote
I am so looking forward to the cruise next Summer be it the Alaskan, Hawaiian or Greek Islands Cruise. I must admit I am not 'super fit' but walk to and from both workplaces everyday...morning shift...home for a 3 hour break then the evening shift, I try to keep a brisk walking pace and can feel it becoming increasingly easier one day at a time! The only problem is when Winter sets in and the walkways are icy, it is treacherous to walk and extremely dangerous, so I lose a lot of walking time during the Winter months here in Toronto November to March, sometimes through to April...brrrr hate the Winters:)here. When I lived in Vancouver and Victoria Island I could walk every day 24/7 rain or shine! Not to mention South Africa...oh do I miss that beautiful climate!!!!!
To remain on a positive note, there is a lot to look forward to and Toronto is definitely a 'pit stop' :) even though I have lived here for the longest stretch (15 years) since arriving in Canada 1978!
By the way I love Ancient History and when travelling to distant lands it is fascinating to explore the ancient stories and culture attached to each place...Peru/The Incas....Guatemala/Mayans...Greece....Rome...Hawaii etc.....the people/storytellers....love to listen to the stories passed down from generation to generation!
Here's to Romance and Adventure for the 'Young At Heart'
When You Dream ....DREAM BIG
from the 'out of africa'
'dreamweaver'
Senior Bachelorette:)
Vj
Toronto Canada
p.s. I soooo look forward to the first cruise when we ALL meet each other...what a BUZZZZ it iz gonna beeeee:)

Ladies & Richard - just to let you know that Victoria is a city on Vancouver Island. It is the capital of British Columbia. Vancouver is a city on the mainland coast and the 3rd largest city in Canada. Vancouver and Victoria are both beautiful cities with a very lovely climate. If you hear about it raining around here ALL winter, it means there's a heavy mist - NOT rain like in other areas of Canada or the USA - I know, having lived in Ottawa and REALLY experienced what rain is! It seldom snows here because we are sheltered by the Strait of Georgia and the Coastal Range mountains. The weather is often likened to that of San Francisco. Who would like to come and visit? Would love to meet any/all of you wonderful ladies.

All right, Ladies, I think we are good to go with the instructions for signing up for the Senior Bachelor Cruise Newsletter. Thanks to everyone for trying it out and reporting back. Technology can be helpful and frustrating all at the same time.

Please start thinking of ways we can reach out to men to participate in the Senior Bachelor Adventure- particularly the Senior Bachelor/ette Cruise. What I hope to show them is that there are so many wonderful and exciting older women they can enjoy meeting- whether it is online or in person.

Someone mentioned in a blog a long time ago about seeing so many thousands of motorcycle riders going to a big meeting (in South Dakota?) Can you imagine the same sort of meeting for us single Seniors?! Sort of a Senior Woodstock (but cavorting on a ship or a resort instead of the mud)! I think we have a very good start here...

Hello Richard,
I can relate to your story about the unusual things transported on motorbikes in Vietnam. I lived in Seoul, South Korea for 2 years and I witnessed someone hauling a 20 foot palm tree on his moped! You should have seen him turn the corners...I learned how to ride the subways to get around because traffic was so crazy...In the USA and most other countries, we stay between the lines on the road. If there are 4 lanes, we see 4 cars across. Well, not so in Korea...if they can fit 7 cars in and between those lanes, they will, and the person in front always has the right of way...so, of course everyone wants to be up front. Don't get me wrong, I love Korea and the Korean people are some of the most gracious people I have ever met. The memories will be with me for the rest of my life.
I learned to drive as a teenager in the Los Angeles area and used to complain about the traffic there. I vowed never to complain again after travelling the highways and byways of Korea and China.
Good night to all...

Good night dear Richard

Step right up, come on in……

Dark skin in linen, perfume on my wrist
Restless hearts, sleep alone tonight
I am forever yours faithfully.

These dreams are only when I close my eyes
Every second of the night, I live another life
Every moment of the way, I further run away

There is someone out there I can’t resist
I have been thinking about you baby
I want to taste your lips,
Funny how in dreams, your feet never touch the earth
Sweet dreams go on when I close my eyes.

Every second of the night, I live another life
Now in dreams I believe, I’ll hold you in my arms and never let go
I’d surrender everything to feel the chance to live again in a journey of discovery
I am forever yours, faithfully....

Hello Richard, and the lovely Ladies of the Fog, oops Blog...lol,
First of all to the Ladies who commented on my suggestion to talk about fitness, thank you for your kind remarks, the great examples of your fitness, and all the great quotes! Wow,I was blown away by you all, thanks so much!!! I had a good meeting with a Wellness Coach at the Y, I did some work on the legs with the machines. I was encouraged that my legs are still quite strong. I also found out about some good ways to do cardio in the pool. I've made a good start today and am satisfied...:)

Richard, thank you for the very informative newsletter! My "cruise connection" worked just fine, I read your correction newsletter first actually. Thank you also for taking on the fitness topic along with other topics from the Blog. I am also "in training" so I can be in the best shape I can be for my 30 year high school reunion, the Journey with you, and the upcoming opera season, in that order. Oh, and Richard, I found it amusing in your travels in Vietnam that the pigs had "paws". I was raised on a ranch and the pigs I remember had "hooves"....lol.

A couple of my own quotes for the Journey: "A Sense of Humor, Don't leave home without it"
"Heaven ain't for Wimps"...whatever your idea of heaven is.

You all are a blessing to me....:)

If every Bachelorette would/could invite a Bachelor (brother, friend, cousin, co-worker) on the cruise -- with a discount price as incentive)-- perhaps that would help. The Oprah Winfrey Show is "syndicated" which means whichever network pays the most money for an area gets to show it. As a result, TOWS is on NBC, CBS, and ABC, depending on the area where you live.... Thanks for your suggestions on the blog for yesterday's Newsletter. As you read, many of your questions were answered. By now, I think you know that most all of the questions you have will be answered at the appropriate time. Sometimes there are very good reasons for not answering some quesries at a particular time. I am pleased so many wonderful ladies have made new friends through the blog. That's really great!!! Again my thanks to the blog for starting the ball rolling re cruises. The number of people who have signed up for the Special Cruise Newsletters was amazing. I sure see lots of fun on these cruises, and yes, a challenge will be to get more men!!!I just had an idea, so let's try it out here. What if I asked all of the ladies on the regular Newsletter list to think of one man to have sign up for the Cruise Newsletters??? They're free, and no one else will ever see any names for a spam list, and this way we can get more men!! Just an idea. I'd love to hear your valuable feedback via this blog. Thanks for all of your help. Most sincerely, Richard Roe

Although I signed up for the cruise newsletter, I won't even consider going on such a cruise because (1) I don't like huge cruise ships ... much prefer very small >60-passenger boats, and (2) my previous experience with a "senior" cruise was disastrous and hilarious at the same time!

A few years ago a friend and I went on a Windjammer "senior singles" cruise which promised an equal number of men and women. They did keep their promise. With only a very few exceptions the women were vibrant, fit, and attractive, but the large majority of men could barely move around, either because of poor health or alcoholism!!

As CC said (and I've said it before in a previous blog) - any healthy, fit men who would go on such a cruise are looking for much younger women than I! Doesn't keep me from still dreaming optimistically, though!
Ciao ....

Dear Richard and Friends,
So many thoughts:
1st is -- let's get more single Gentleman on the cruise??? Great!!!But if I knew a lot of them to choose from, with active lifestyles and attitudes like ours, I wouldn't be on this Blog.

I have already mentioned this activity to my male and female friends as I will the cruise. Everything seems to come right back to each of our desires and what we will do to achieve them.

A lingering Maintenance Perscription from theGood Old Days: A good wife and good health are a man's best friend.??

Us singles are doing more then just limping along thanks to the help of so many good friends. (I love to dance, but don't Line dance. I prefer a man to start my engine. I prefer a gentleman's company in so many activities, not because I won't try/do them without a man, but BECAUSE the LIKE MINDED man makes that Activity/Process/Whatever better. I don't alway get what I prefer, but will continue until I do or change my mind.

Like I have said, us ladies prove we already have the Cake. Men,like you, Richard, are the icing and a whole new presentation.

From my experience, the first thing so many men work towards, some more openly then others is: "Lets go to bed. We won't do anythig you aren't comfortable with." That of course starts a whole new Adventure.

I am glad to be part of this wonderful active growing group enjoying life's Buffet of People, Places and things with FIT Attitudes. The hardships just seem to be obsticles to get around.
I am glad to be old enough to have had enough experences to teach me what I know today. Often when I am with youngsters, I know I have survived what they still have to go through.
Part of what I started to say is that because we want our dreams to come true, we aren't over sleeping as so many mature males do.

It seems we 1st make our habits then our habits make us.
Life is short but it's the longest thing we get to do.
I love this Adventure and it's opportunities!!!!
(Cuddling isn't an Adventure.It's a Pleasure.)

The time I spend on this Blog???? Gosh!!!
I have more things to do today then I can possible get done. I'm out for the day.
Is it Sept 16th yet????
Love you all.

UUUMMMMM........what if you get creepy men? (k, there are creepy women too).

I've stated in prior posts I am not interested in the cruising thing but yikes (not to think negatively) there are some FREAKS out there, and to be confined on a ship with a few of them could blow what could be a fun vacation. Is this ging to be a floating meat market? Overall, intentions are good I suppose, if you're into this sort of adventure.

Would there be some sort of screening before they sign up and pay?

Would you handle it like one of the other national cruise company's? Just curious.

Dear Richard and Friends,
Guess I am almost out of here. I updated myself which meant I got to read Richard's blog that posted while I was writing.

I have personally wondered why men haven't been monitoring us or are they??
The one that took a leap and went on found what he wanted???

Maybe a Guy's sign up spot.

Where is a good balance??

Sometimes I question my own single minded focus, but it has proved successful for me in the past and at least doesn"t dilute my efforts.

RICHARD, CJ:
Does anyone know, offhand, what the demographics of Oprah's audience is? My idea would be to have "our" Richard of course back on the show for an "update", and at that time bring up the cruise concept. Then appeal to all those women watching who have what they believe to be an eligible brother, brother-in-law, father, cousin. Also appeal to some of our ladies who are keen on the cruise to offer their family and friends, and their http://....blogspot.com site for a "look-see" for the potential bachelors.

I believe this would be a good time to set up a separate Blog site, a venue dedicated to the healthy exchange between potential "cruise mates" (pardon the pun!)on who they are, what they enjoy in the opposite sex, etc. Something that you, RR, wouldn't necessarily have to monitor (delegate!).

Word of mouth, Oprah, Today, heck, even "Squawk Box" or MSNBC might plug it, and a lot of intelligent, active men watch that!

My 2 cents-worth!

Dear Bloggettes and Richard........

I would love to share the following documented results of highly important, extremely useful and incredibley significant medical data that has been backed by substantial scientific evidence. I found this data in my "inbox" this AM
This is restricted to audiences over a "certain age" only...you may want to activate your "censor" button....... this could very possibly either be deleted or I may be banished for life to the infamous naughty mat....but I found it so fun and worth sharing that I thought I would give it a try!! Sooooo here goes ....enjoy!!

This is hilarious! Be sure to read the warning at the bottom. I didn't change a word! I'm not messing with the Sex Fairy!

1. Sex is a beauty treatment. Scientific tests find that
when women make love they produce amounts of the hormone estrogen, which makes hair shine and skin smooth.

2. Gentle, relaxed lovemaking reduces your chances of suffering dermatitis, skin rashes and blemishes. The sweat produced
cleanses the pores and makes your skin glow.

3. Lovemaking can burn up those calories you piled on during that romantic dinner.

4. Sex is one of the safest sports you can take up. It
stretches and tones up just about every muscle in the body. It's
more enjoyable than swimming 20 laps, and you don't need special
sneakers!

5. Sex is an instant cure for mild depression. It releases endorphins into the bloodstream, producing a sense of euphoria
and leaving you with a feeling of well-being.

6. The more sex you have, the more you will be offered. The sexually active body gives off greater quantities of chemicals called pheromones. These subtle sex perfumes drive the opposite sex crazy!

7. Sex is the safest tranquilizer in the world. IT
IS 10 TIMES MORE EFFECTIVE THAN VALIUM.

8. Kissing each day will keep the dentist away.
Kissing encourages saliva to wash food from the teeth and lowers the
level of the acid that causes decay, preventing plaque build-up.

9. Sex actually relieves headaches. A lovemaking session can release the tension that restricts blood vessels in the
brain.

10. A lot of lovemaking can unblock a stuffy nose.
Sex is a natural antihistamine. It can help combat asthma and hay fever.

This message has been sent to you for good luck in
sex.
The original is in a room in the basement of the Dwight House Pub. It has been sent around the world nine times. Now sex has been sent to you.
The "Hot Sex Fairy" will visit you within four days of receiving this message, provided you, in turn, send it on.

If you don't, then you will never receive good sex again for the rest of your life. You will eventually become celibate, and
your genitals will rot and fall off. This is no joke! Send copies to people you think need sex (who doesn't?). Don't send money, as the fate of your
genitals has no price.

Well..hmmmmmm..what to say??
Perhaps we could start a Bolg site for those interested in signing up for this research project, solely for the interest of medical science!! That would sure help seperate the men from the boys (as it were!!)
I do beleive this Blog thang has created a nightmare: namely moi!
Hopefully no one is offended, just meant to lighten things up a notch...plus by the sounds of it we all could use a little "good luck in sex" and a visit from the "Hot Sex Fairy"......also I am sure at this stage in life we do not need one more thing to "rot and fall off".......EH???
ROCK ON!!!!!!

Richard, with all due respect, it sounds like you plan on "racing" around and so are "in training" for this trip. No matter how fit a woman is, the man is usually stronger and if you keep up a pace that's comfortable for "you," you'll probably end up having to carry the lady to the airport to send her home.

I hope there will be time to stop and smell the roses, simply admire the view, and get to know the ladies.I never take a video camera with me because I prefer to feel the moment rather than look at it through a piece of glass. Sitting at an outdoor cafe, sipping a lovely cold drink, and watching the people go by can be just as interesting and fulfilling as trying to cram everything you can into a few weeks.

Regardless, I'm certainly willing to "try" to keep up with you. And as Dustin Hoffman said in "Midnight Cowboy" - 'Don't get a hernia' as you work out to be in top shape for the adventure. Remember, you're already probably way more fit than any of us.

HOT SENIOR FIREMEN

One dark night outside a small town in Wisconsin, a fire started inside the local chemical plant and in a blink of an eye it exploded into massive flames.

The alarm went out to all the fire departments for miles around. When the volunteer fire fighters appeared on the scene, the chemical company president rushed to the fire chief and said, "All our secret formulas are in the vault in the center of the plant. They must be saved. I will give $50,000 to the fire department that brings them out intact."

But the roaring flames held the firefighters off.

Soon more fire departments had to be called in as the situation became desperate. As the firemen arrived, the president shouted out that the offer was now $100,000 to the fire department who could bring out the company's secret files.

From the distance, a lone siren was heard as another fire truck came into sight. It was the nearby Norwegian rural township volunteer fire company composed mainly of Norwegians over the age of 65.

To everyone's amazement, that little run-down fire engine roared right past all the newer sleek engines that were parked outside the plant. Without even slowing down it drove straight into the middle of the inferno.

Outside, the other firemen watched as the Norwegian old timers jumped off right in the middle of the fire fought it back on all sides. It was a performance and effort never seen before.

Within a short time, the Norske old timers had extinguished the fire and had saved the secret formulas. The grateful chemical company president announced that for such a superhuman feat he was upping the reward to $200,000, and walked over to personally thank each of the brave fire fighters.

The local TV news reporter rushed in to capture the event on film, asking their chief, "What are you going to do with all that money?"

"Vell," said Ole Larsen, the 70-year-old fire chief, "Da first thing ve gonna do is fix da brakes on dat *%#*!@* truck!"

I agree with Neva Watts...The men I know also watch early morning and late TV only. I haven't met many men that TIVO Oprah....Now meeting woman, that's where you want to visit Oprah (right Richard?)

I would love to get my brother on this cruise....I know he doesn't watch Oprah. Actually he works so much, he doesn't watch too much TV and doesn't have time to meet quality women. He needs to find a nice woman who will "persuade" him to enjoy life a little more!

I like Richard's idea..."Senior Woodstock" Taking it a little further. Fun and Frolic on the 7 Seas. Ten fun filled days and nights....Find your soul connection
while being wined, dined, and pampered on the Senior Love Boat connection. On a larger cruise ship, there is lots of room and the more the merrier, and greater odds of meeting a possible partner. A survey could be taken ahead of time to find out major areas of common interest and then on board there could be group parties centered around the most popular topics.(Dancing, Travel, Investment/Tax Seminar, Real Estate, Photography, or whatever) There are probably people in the group who could give a presentation or set something up.

Maybe EHarmony could help with the survey to match people up on the cruise,or get similar people together in the same room, at least.

Fun party mixer with a raffel of a great trip or something. (There's got to be a sponsor for that..look
at the great market that is being tapped....us! The possiblities are endless.

I think it's going to be so much fun....Hey, I'm gonna go pack my bags now!!

ZOE! It's exactly what you think, if you let your mind "get" the sex part of the joke: What (who) "CAME" first? The chicken, obviously! (the cigarette being the symbol for the satisfaction afterwards!) Now, come on!!

To Annony mouse: Scroll back a bit and you'll see that I, and lots of others, have proposed the same thing. But now, especially, the cruise blog would be appropriate, and would free up this Blog talking/writing about it.

Ladies, yes, if you already knew decent guys ... you wouldn't need to go on the cruise. But if fellow blogettes, Oprah viewers, friends contribute who THEY think are decent guys, hopefully that would vet out the so-called "creeps" some are concerned about. Then again, one person's nice brother might be a "creep" to someone else. But the male contingency would tend to grow exponentially once it got around. And from there you just might meet one or two pleasant enough gentlemen to keep company with. Or,I guess it's good a lot of you are keen on just meeting each other on the cruise.

Have a great day!

You could fly into Seattle and then take a sea plane or boat into Vancouver if you have the time and want to add some adventure.

The sea plane usually lands and the boat docks not too far from the Empress I think.

Hey Suzanne aka desertflowers

*LOL* @ you! Honest injun ... knickers not in a twist ;).
Was scrolling merrily away and saw that anonymous posting and was a bit taken aback (especially as it was just after a comment I made about Elizabeth Kubler-Ross) so just shot back a response ... you know me ;).

Yep I live in Dublin. Believe it or not I have never heard of your grandmother's maiden name before. Was gonna ask you if you're sure *LOL*.
I feel I should say here that everyone in Ireland DOES NOT RED HAIR although your mom obviously had and then we have BDNC turning up with the most vibrant head you could imagine ... she's so funny.

Seems to be that most of the bloggers live in US and Canada (I know you guys don't like to be lumped in together :)) but all part of the North American continent. Wonder where Droma is living. (think she's German??)

Wanda does seem to have disappeared ... maybe with Cathy's friend!!! As for BBPolice, they probably weren't even british, just some eejits hanging out for a while!

I had a look at your site today and congrats to you again. Lovely pic. Didn't leave a message cause my email address is my full name and was just being careful so I don't get any spam. Will set up a different email address.

By the way, where in Arizona are you? I met a lovely man on my travels who lives in Tuscon. Works at the University there.

Gotta go ...

Be good (not)

Bonjourno Mary R,
My thinking (for what it is or is not worth!) is that I believe many women of "a certain age" more than likely do not have access to computers and are not super tech literate as we Bloggettes clearly are, which could be why there aren't more women Blogging in to SB's site.
So whatever that is worth.... 2 cents?? that is my thinking!

Hey Phyllis!
You probably don't remember me, but it was way back in those days when YOU also posted as Anonymous. I was getting miffed 'cause we weren't getting any personal info from RR. I believe I was the first who asked you and you gave your name to. Up until then, I really thought you were Italian (Ciao - P sign-off!)!!! I was also one who wondered where you went off to, wishing your caustic humor back, and glad to have you, and it, back! I also remember the many times since that you've referred to yourself as Irish! I'm half Irish, too, on father's side.

Well, I sincerely think that YOU were the "British Police" that some are referring to. Censorship seems to have stopped, or is it that overall griping has diminished substantially?

Anyway, we've all spent hours on the "chicken and egg" joke. So, ladies, what's the next general topic??? Anymore good jokes out there?!!!

I must go back scrolling and find the "Anon" comment......I too will be miffed especially after our Kubler Ross exchange!! Not nice!

Ah ladies ... I hope no one gets mad at me for saying this! Perhaps one of the reasons there are so few new bloggers is that so much of what is posted is totally irrelevant! It's nice girly (oh my goodness - I just used Schwartzenegger's favorite word!) chit-chat stuff which I certainly am happy to engage in with my friends. But on the Internet in full view of everyone, and on RR's site? Uh, uh!! And I sure can't imagine any man choosing to join in such conversations as these.

On the subject of RR's definition of a "fit" lady ... considering the kind of traveling he's done, he probably should have warned everyone who may travel with him that they'll have to be very tolerant about the general levels of cleanliness and sanitation found in the countries you will probably be visiting. You may be staying in nice hotels with modern toilets, but on the road and off the beaten track, you're likely to find bathroom facilities worse than the worst outhouse you've ever used ... or perhaps nothing at all but the nearest tree, rock or bush! And I've been in places where even those weren't available! You'd probably turn him off if you whined and complained about this!

Ciao from Ann Arbor, MI

Good Afternoon All,
to mary r, phyl, and canadian bloggette: you were asking and commenting about new bloggers. i'm new as far as signing on, but not new to reading the blogs. i've only sent a couple of blogs, but i always read them. i'm kind of quiet, and haven't had much to say so far, but i love reading everyone's comments. the harmony between you is great. some are so funny, and every now and then, there's someone who slips through with negativity, but i'm glad that this site is being used in a postitive manner. i'm really just learning how to use the blog, and i follow instructions given to others, like how to insert photos. i didn't know how to insert in bold letters the person's name i'm responding to so i just put it in my text. i'll continue to read and follow the blogs, and will chime in from time-to-time with some comments. there may be others who just read and never comment also, but know i'm always reading about what's going on. i did sign up for the cruise newsletter, so who knows?

See, you're contributing comments like many others! And usefull ones at that! It's just that some of the ladies comment on comments, which turn into what seems to be a dialogue (when this happens, quite a few go to each other's blogs to get more personal, and out of blog/everyone's view). And then, when there's a hot topic, then all heck breaks loose, and everyone has to comment (or not!)!

So, welcome back! Your earlier comments on age, your vitality, and "joie de vivre", served as inspiration to comments by many, and I for one am grateful for your presence and continued contributions here!

Desert Flowers.

You might try travelocity.com and/or cheap tickets.com.

I was referring to Victoria on Vancouver, not Ottawa. I think Leslie is in Vancouver also.

United Airlines sometimes has specials to Seattle, but I am not sure what their service is out of Phoenix. (usually weekend getaways)
United.com

Aside: The sea plane from Seattle is somewhat expensive. The boat is not but takes about 3 hours I think. If you go to Seattle, stop by Pike's Fish Market to add adventure also.

Dear Droma:
On that topic of "virginity" - it actually came up in my office acouple of days ago, and the unanimous vote by all the men was that it was no pleasure to them to take it (what few who could say they did). The women just laughed, saying it wasn't great for them, either! But as you say (write), once initiated, it's easier to do it again. Which takes me back to my frustrations with uploading pictures to this blog!

Leslie, bdnc, Suzanne:
And I still can't do the BOLD or BLUE. All I get are the symbols ... nothing else happens.
Is it my computer at work? My laptop at home can't do it either. Nor can my doing it in Word, then copying onto this ... And I just got (several) error messages telling me "Your HTML cannot be accepted: Tag is broken." ?????

My blogs aren't as pretty as y'alls, boohoo!

Suzanne aka desertflowers ... of course I know its you (artist formerly known as Suzanne Mesa Arizona). Didn't realise Mesa was a place, that's why I asked ;). Girl, your sinuses are deffo blocking your head today ;).

Suzan Forest Hills:

How could I forget you :). I remember all ... honestly ... I even remember reading that you were wondering where I was gone ... I just got pissed off being deleted when I had a different opinion .... didn't post for a while!
However, babes, I DEFINITELY WAS/AM NOT THE BRITISH BLOG POLICE... cmon... sure the Brits starved most of us to death *LOL* (said tongue in cheek). That's why so many of us ended up in the USofA bringing you guys into the world ... LOL ... No way would I take on a British nickname!! Having said that I don't obviously blame any living British person for the Famine, all the British people I know have apologised *LOL* even though it wasn't their fault. (again, said tongue in cheek)!!Hey, I'm even invited to one of my UK friends wedding in Norfolk in Nov .. so you see ..... all pals etc etc.... just the odd little undercurrent ;). BTW Suzan, I always use 'ciao' ... I know its Italian but it's kind of a general European thing also. In Ireland we tend to adopt whatever we like about different cultures and use it ourselves ... sorrrrrry and all that (not). Ah lovely to know you're half Irish too and from Queens ... now there's a surprise ;)

CB .... wow ... was your daughter visiting Ireland or living here for a while. I think you probably mean that her boyfriend is from Galway?? cause I have NEVER heard of Calloway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What is patootie???

Heiresschild: Hi to you. I've noticed your postings. I think like you said that there are probably people reading the blog but not necessarily posting on them for various reasons. You're not Paris Hilton are you ..... *now you know I'm just kidding you*
I think!

Droma: Hi fellow European albeit displaced :). Yeah what does bb stand for??

BTW Suzan, censorship is still around ... I was deleted very quickly a few times over weekend which I think brought about the comments from the anonymous person telling me to GO. That posting was on previous blog ... that's just for FYI.

Neva .. wow ... flying into Seattle and taking a boat or boatplane to Vancouver sounds fantastic. When I go there that's what I'm gonna do.

The parts of the US I've visited are the New England States, NY couple of times, Florida, California ... all beautiful.

This is so long I'll probably be deleted for length instead of content this time so read FAST.

Love to all

Ciao .... Phyl

p.s. To Tangolady:

I addressed you in a post which was deleted. This was just to say that I think you're fantastic. I'm determined to learn the tango, probably will this year ... an Italian DJ friend of mine does the music for some Argentinians who teach the tango and my sense is that the South Americans are the best people to learn from. I'm getting that from your posting on your tango travels to SA with your teachers etc. I really do think you rock!

Agree with whoever said that most men would be ok about chatting here. the 'Geezer' was fine, he just didn't agree with Richard's method of finding a partner (which was his prerogative ... the disagreeing I mean) and he just said what he thought .. no crime there. La la la ... heading merrily into deletion territory again ;).

So dance on mon ami ... Ciao.... Phyl

As for moi ... over last 30 years worked as PA in lots of industries, then ex and I started our own business in mid 80s. Separated nearly 3 years ago so moi not involved in the business anymore. Have a diploma in Personal & Business Coaching which I've been doing but hasn't really caught on here yet so money not great. Also I find it quite isolating working on one-to-one basis with people so I've decided to job hunt again. Weird when you've been working for yourself for so long. But then again I might enter this competion *LOL* and go travelling. I reckon I'd be in with a chance (like yourself) but Richard and I would probably end up killing each other *LOL*.... body deletion in the jungle!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Bloggettes!
Some of you are so funny ... and cracking me up! You know who you are. : )

Regarding why more people don't post here - I agree that it might have to do with some people not being computer literate ... but it may be a question we can't answer here. I used to spend a lot of time on the Message Boards for Trafalgar Travel ... which is a very active Board.

Lots of people would post their trip journals and share their travel tips, etc. A great site. But over and over, new people would come on and try to find out who was going on their particular trip - and get no response. And people would come back from their trip - and say that no one on their tours even knew about the BB.

So ... though all of us may be excited about this site and 'into' it - many others may not even be aware of it ... or not interested in it. And - if guys came on here, obviously, the dynamic would change (which could be great fun). But ... since the main topic is supposed to be related to SB - I can understand why there are few or none on here. But if there is a Blog for the Cruise ... that would surely be interesting. And I bet guys would join up got that.

Anyway ... just my two cents on that. : )

Also - I told a single guy that I work with about the Cruise today (he will be 50 next month) and he was very interested and wants me to send him the info on the Newsletter. So ... I'm going to make a list of potential 'Cruise guys' that are nice - but just not for me. Unfortunately, I have a lot of those kinds of friends. : )

Have a good one!

If you are not in favour of sharing a cabin, then the 'FairyGodMother'will hopefully be in a financial position to grant that wish for you to have ya own cabin! By the way if we do agree on sharing, I take it you are FEMALE:) considering the beautiful romantic poetry/floetry that is directed from you to our 'man of the moment'Richard:)

Richard: You came up with a very good plan suggesting we use 'code names' and then when meeting on the
first cruise, trying to guess who is who...as you put it..... hilarious, that in itself is an 'ice-breaker' weez all gotta get along while sailing them high seas...how romantic! Makes me think of the song my Mama used to sing: "I'll Be Sailing Along On Moonlight Bay"

I was zoned out by the experience for a few days. I envy you that particular skill ..... wow wow.

As for me being here to keep people on track ... wouldn't count on it .... could be deleted any moment now but please erect a memorial *LOL*.

Hi Ladies,

Sorry I've been so remiss in spending time on the blog-- very busy with the tapes. I do read every comment but sometimes it's a bit of time in between. I still try to make time for the beach volleyball everyday-- did someone mention they saw a paunch?!

Please don't let my definition of "fit" overly concern you. I find the adrenaline of being in a new place can make one scuttle fast enough to catch the water taxi in time. And the cruise will be just the thing to relax after the journey. Although, we should plan some adventurous side trips. We'll get those old guys moving!

Keep up the "fun" on the blog. I like the travel stories. Now who was it that ended up in the bushes???!!! I bet we all have those kind of stories.

Got to go now and watch the sunset here and hang out on the porch a while and rest these weary eyes and keyboard fingers. Good night, Ladies. RR

Hi Richard,

Love your idea about a cruise and while I didn't think I would fit your idea of the perfect woman for you, I just might be someone else's perfect woman, however here's what's bothering me...with the amount of women that responded to your call alone...you're going to need another boat, plus, if the ratio is too one sided....you're going to need security on that boat or enough chocolate to placate the masses because there is only one thing scarier then a woman scorned, is two women after the same man! And, in your case Richard, I hope you have a dingy in case you have to jump ship! ....just kidding ....would love to be on that boat (hopefully, it's afordable - (damn Cdn. dollars) :)

Yes I can see it now. Phyl deleted - and the Amazon Herald reports – strange sighting along the dense forest and Amazon River. White woman with red hair and gazed looked, foaming at the mouth………LOL

No I’m retired, kind of sorta. My kids and I are starting a furniture business on-line. I wanted them to gain their independence and not let a corporation run their lives. So many ups and downs when you income is only as secure as who likes you. I’ve always believed that running your own business in the best way. So “PA” to me would be either Personnel Assistant or Program Analyst. Which is it?

CathyinCarolina My gosh girl where ya been. I’ve been worried sick about Starliteinmyeyes. Glad to hear she has not been abducted by your friend or vice versus. LOL. You need to go get caught up on the cruise thing at Clickgirls site.

Dear Richard et. al.

Re: Getting Guys on the Alaska Cruise

Richard needs a counterpart in his Senior Romance Quest. We need a representative that has some of Richard's pluck and drive, and is as appealing and adventurous.

If Richard could connect with Oprah to concoct a venue for this female (or female team), perhaps something substantial could get going.

The venue would not have to be Oprah's Show. It could be Monday Night Sports. Her staff could orchestrate it all.

I suggest the woman (or team of women) might be from a pool of well-known ladies like Lauren Hutton, Oprah's best friend, Gayle King (isn't she divorced?) and/or Diane Keaton.

All the men competing for an opportunity to get to know these women could then provide a potential pool for the Alaska trip.

Richard, what else do you think would entice the men to sacrifice time and money to go on this Alaska cruise? Retired famous baseball players being on it too?

Hello Richard and the Login Ladies,
Richard, I wish I could have shared the porch with you this evening...:) I have a Machu Pichu(sp?) story or lack of one actually. My exhusband and I were in Peru with a church group 20 years ago to work on a Bible school. We spent a couple of days in Cusco at 11,000ft where everyone drinks coca tea just to handle the altitude. I was fortunate enough that I just had a headache from the altitude, took an Exedrin and that was all that was needed. One of the days we took the train to see Machu Pichu. My poor Ex had been sick to his stomach the whole time we were in Cusco and on the train to Machu Pichu. At that time the train tracks ended at the bottom of Machu Pichu and you had to take a bus up a switchback road to get to the ruins. Since my ex was sick all the way on the train he didn't want to chance being sick on the bus. Being the good wife that I was(and will be again),and since I know some Spanish I decided to stay with my husband at the train station so he wouldn't be alone since he didn't speak Spanish. Well he was fine the whole time we were at the train station..#!@!!&*(expletives!). Machu Pichu is at 9,000 feet. I kick myself to this day that I didn't drag my ex to the bus, give him a window seat and go see the ruins! So Richard, while we are in Peru are we going to Machu Pichu???? I think it's been called the 8th Wonder of the World if I'm not mistaken.
Have any of you Ladies been to Machu Pichu?

Richard, I actually like my men not to be too thin so the paunch is cool with me, if my paunch is cool with you...lol

A suggestion for advertising the Alaska Cruise: advertise in several mags that cater to women of a certain age such as "More", "Town and Country", Donald Trump's mag, "Conde Nast Traveler", and heck maybe National Geographic(I'm sure some men read that). Yes, I would be happy to sing on the cruise as Desertflowers suggested.

I'm singing the National Anthem again this Saturday afternoon for the Socal Scorpions Professional Women's football team who have won both of their games against the Long Beach Aftershock. They are kicking Fannies!!! They are playing against a team from Houston and those girls are big! Well you'd be big too if you ate the biscuits, crawdads, chicken, that they do...lol

Bon Nuit Mes Amies,

Hello Richard,

I certainly enjoy reading your descriptive writings re Vietnam. I can visual the bananas design on the back of the motorbike. Your peacock interpretation is great and possibly somewhat introspective? Just kidding!

I enjoy photographing parts of common items that create unusual designs. Both the peacock bananas design and the two upsidedown pigs would had been fabulous photos! Sounds like you are also creative and have an artistic eye.

And I publicly thank bdnc for helping me, off-blog, with my doubts re uploading my photo to my profile, like so many of you ladies have already figured out! Thanks to all!!

BEV: Good Idea!! I suggest you (and the rest of us!) go to Oprah's website, and make a suggestion for an upcoming show! Here's how:just go to her homepage at www.oprah.com, click "Be On The Show" "Find out what we're working on...", then click on "We Want Your Show Ideas".

I did it, and maybe if more of us do it, a groundswell of us ladies clamoring and promoting Richard's message of SeniorBachelor/Senior Bachelorette's Adventure and Romance, the cruise idea(s), other ideas, the feedback re the hundreds and hundreds who have sent in their videos ... Whatever! The publicity would be enormous. At least we'd get a producer's attention!! Right?!

Any other ideas?

That was a GREAT idea about e-mailing Oprah. I have done it before and it's really simple. If enough of us said we wanted to see a follow-up story on the Senior Bachelor, maybe that would help. Every one of Richard's newsletters has the same heading, about promoting romance and adventure for people of all ages. And he said in a recent newsletter that really means people 40 and over and especially 50 and over. So let's help our common cause.

I am excited...just ordered POP&ME DVD from the local video store, will have it in two weeks! I don't yet own a DVD player but on the wish list, so typical of me to put the 'cart b4 the horse'...get the DVD then the machine:)
I have not heard from the two to whom I recommended your 'cruise newsletter' they are both 'gun shy' even though they know me for a few years, they are good friends 'spiritual brothers' the one turned Vegan/Monk so maybe he is still practicing 'restriction'ie
celibacy. The other contact in Laguna Beach California is a unique individual early sixties, one of my spiritual guides on the journey of Life but not meant to be anything more than that in this lifetime:) My wish for him is to meet his Soulmate and who knows maybe it is going to happen on your cruise, if he chooses to sail away with us! He invited me to visit Laguna Beach but for whatever reason am hesitant to accept his invitation at this time.
So, 'cruise control' signing off for now:)
